Scripture reading: 1 Corinthians 6:13-20

We are supposed to be overcomers, and the first thing of all that we have to overcome is inside ourselves. If you do not overcome the man in you, you are not going to be an overcomer of anything else. I do not know if you understand. We have already talked about the sexual urge and the things, the burdens, that God put upon us as natural men. It said that Elijah was a man, a natural man, as we are. Paul said, “I am natural like any one of you. I could lead around a wife” (1 Corinthians 9:5). He had to tell them that, for some of the people were looking up to him as if he was not natural. But you have to overcome the natural man!

How do you learn to overcome the natural man? I can only tell you how God taught me. As a young fellow, I received the Lord. When I say “young,” I mean in my 20’s. The Lord taught me to fast and pray. He taught me to have food to eat, and not eat. To be hungry! To love what I am looking at and smelling, and yet not eat. I think the worst thing for a hungry man is a smell. Oh, it just kills you! Amen! The hunger you have when you are hungry and you smell fresh food (especially things that you like)—it is like a kind of madness that takes you! God wants you to be able to have food and not eat it.

Some of the brothers feel that, “Boy, I need a wife! I need a wife so badly. Oh, you know, I need a wife!” Let me tell you something. The person who hasn’t got a wife has less problem of temptation than those who have a wife, for you have to lie down every night with a wife in the bed and you have to be spiritual. You have to control yourselves, and you have to put your desires and your wants away. So, therefore, you have to learn first by FASTING: To have food and not eat it—HUNGRY! To have water and not drink it—THIRSTY! Yes! I have gone through such thirst that my throat began to split and bleed. My lips would bleed because I was thirsty, there was water and I would not drink it because I was fasting a fast of THIRST!

Now, I am not telling you to do it. Your God must tell you what to do. As a brother shared with us one time, he said, “This is not my body. This is not my property.” His body is the temple of the living God. So if God tells you, “Do not drink water,” then you do not drink water. You see, when Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days, nobody can convince me that He carried a bottle of water with Him.

That was thirst; and thirst can become a kind of madness. When you are thirsty, you have hallucinations; but then that is where I was trained. I was trained at the point where we did not have breakfast, or lunch, or dinner, but we had to go to take the Word of God and preach. Amen! Our children were hungry but they learned not to even say, “I am hungry.” They just played until they fell asleep. We learned how to control the body.

When we came into Miami with $12 in our pocket, ready to do a missionary journey, we did not know anybody, any organization, or anything in America. Nothing! If we had gone to the Salvation Army, that would be a defeat of the faith that we had in God. So we stood and waited until God sent a raven (1 Kings 17:1-6). Oh, yes! But, you know, many would have said, “Get away from me, you dirty raven! I do not want your bread!” Do you think that is what Elijah would have said? Well, a drunken woman came and with all the liquor coming out of her breath fell on the shoulder of my wife, hugged her and said, “Let’s go to Fort Lauderdale.” From a drunken woman, we heard the voice of God. We didn’t say, “Get away from me, you drunkard!” No! But we heard the voice of God speaking through her, and there our missionary journey started.

Thought for today:  God has a way for you to overcome the natural man. Listen to His Voice and hear what He is telling you to do so that you may succeed.

Scripture reading: Ephesians 1:15-23

Let us look a little closer at the body of Christ. I am a part of the body and you are a part of the body. For example, you are an eye; then I ask you, “Brother Jim, what have you seen?” Because you are an “eye.” The other one is a “hand,” and I say to him, “Help me to heal my wound. Massage my wound; minister to my wound.” Amen! “You are a hand! Help me here.” Then I am yet another ministry. Maybe some of you are just a “nose.” But the nose was made to “smell.” The great thing about God’s business and what God is saying to us is that a nose cannot “see,” it can only “smell.” A smell is not something that you can see. So if I am in the room and I discern, I call out to my wife, Mavis, “Something is burning!” How do I know? My nose tells me that something is burning in the kitchen. Don’t you hear me? This is the body of Christ! You are different parts of the body of Christ made in order to function, but you will not function if you do not submit to the Head. Amen.

Some noses have a cold, and they cannot smell. In order to smell, you must be healed of the cold. So sometimes the hand has to take some smelling salts (or whatever heals colds) to give it to you to heal the cold, so that your nose might smell. So then, for God’s sake, for Christ’s sake, let the body function, IN YOU! Amen! Praise God!

The thing is now coming together. But, guess what? We have to rise up into the cloud. The more you submit your mind to Jesus, the more you will go up into the cloud and begin to see the will of God for your life. Don’t you understand? Let us rise up by thinking on the Word of God! “By the Word of the Lord, we are made overcomers.”

I wish that I could tell you all that is in my heart. There is a quickening, and the quickening lifts the frequency of your mind, and your mind lifts the frequency of your soul (your feelings, your desires, your will). The more you think on the things of the Lord, the more the frequency lifts, and all of a sudden you find yourself in a heavenly place where you are seeing things of heaven. Paul said that he saw (in the heavenlies) things that could not be uttered (2 Corinthians 12:4). Don’t you understand?

Let me close with this: When it comes to your healing, you need to learn how to submit to the Spirit of God so that He might flow through you. For I cannot see the Spirit of God flowing through a sick body without healing that body. The moment you submit it to God, He is going to heal the body of the sickness. Praise God! Thank you, Jesus.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, December 2003, pg. 20)

Thought for today: Submit to the Head in your daily operations, let Him flow through you in all you do and the body will function in you.

Scripture reading: Hebrews 11:32-40

Brethren, we are at a place where God has shown us a problem. I will give you this vision that I had:

We were traveling on a road that ended; there was no charted road to where we were going. So then, we started going across fields and woodlands, and we were totally blocked by flood waters. Flood waters! The Scriptures in Revelation 12 said that Satan would cast out floods of waters out of his mouth to drown the woman church. We came to a point where we could go no farther, and God showed us that there is only one alternative. We had no choice! We had to go on higher ground! That was our only hope, because all the plain was covered with flood waters and we could not walk through the flood. We had to go on higher ground.

As we started going up the side of this steep mountain, there was a contour (you know, how they make roads on mountains—the contour on the mountainside). We could see that it might be a track that people would walk on before, but this was covered over with grass and weeds. (Nobody walked there for a long, long time). Do you hear me, brethren? Nobody walked there! We are going into uncharted country. We are being led into a place where there is no compass to guide us. There is no road to guide us. The Holy Spirit in us is going to guide us, and that is going to be our only way to go!

Turn with me to Hebrews 11. Let us look at the last two verses and see if this has some indication of what is happening. Verse 39, “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise.” Do you know what promise he is talking about? “And I will walk in them and I will talk in them…and ye shall be My people and I shall be your God.” They received not the promise. Verse 40, “God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. In other words, these men overcame lions, they overcame all manner of evil that attacked them on earth, they were sawn asunder; some were killed in various ways, but none attained unto the stature of the overcomers that God must have in the end time!

What must these overcomers do? Let us turn to Revelation 12:7, “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

This is a mystery, but let me explain this simple mystery for you. You know that the Bible, the Word of God, was written in seven mysteries, and these seven seals were broken to us one by one. This mystery that God is talking about here is the serpent in heaven occupying this human body—this heaven that God must live in forever, that God must walk in and God must talk in, and God must reign in!

I heard you singing, and when you sang songs about Jesus Christ being King and reigning upon His throne, did you notice that there was life? Why do you think there was life? This is the word that God is saying to us: that He wants Jesus Christ alone to reign in this kingdom and that we must get the devil out! The devil must be cast out! God said He would send Michael, the archangel, the mightiest force in heaven. It is not that Michael “will” come, but Michael “is” here helping us in our infirmities. He is helping us to overcome the mighty devils that have been let loose, which were bound before but are now loosed and are giving us the hardest battle that mankind ever faced!

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, July 2000, pg. 28-29)

Thought for today: Remember, we are going into uncharted country where there is no road to guide us. Our only way to go is to be guided by the Holy Spirit in us.

Scripture reading: Hebrews 10:20

The four pillars at the entrance of the Holy of Holies is a type of the four cherubims of Ezekiel 1 and 10, Isaiah 6 and Revelation 4. These represent a picture of man’s soul, which in Revelation 4 is mentioned as “four beasts,” and in Revelation 7:1 as four angels of death and destruction standing on the four corners of the earth (soul).

To re-enter Eden, we must go through fire. The flaming sword is the Word of God, and the baptism of fire through which man must go to come into perfection. Note that the angel with the sword was at the east of the garden, and the angel of Revelation 7:2, the fifth angel, was rising from the east to seal the saints. The east represents the mind of Christ.

The picture of man’s soul is as follows. Man's SoulWe could re-enter into this Eden realm, and eventually partake of the tree of life which is Christ, which would re-cycle our nature to the nature of Christ, BUT for these four beasts which occupy our soul realm. Man has the nature of the eagle in his mind, which makes him soar in his thoughts away from God. In his emotions, he is like a lion, a wild savage beast that thrives upon the death of others. In his will, he is stubborn as an ox. In his desires, he is a man. No other creature desires as much as man. He will desire heaven and hell at the same time. He is a creature of desire.

The breaking through the veil, therefore, speaks of man breaking through his own flesh nature. Paul writing to the Hebrew Christians spoke of the veil being the flesh of Jesus Christ in Hebrews 10:20,

“By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.”

Jesus prepared the way for us by breaking through His own flesh, thus He established the “how” of it, so that we too might break through and be OVERCOMERS.
