We sing a song, “Flow through me, flow through me, let the life blood of the Body flow through me…” However, little do we know or understand about this flowing. Let me tell you what God is speaking about.
When God talks about the Body of Christ, He gives us an understanding of something we know about. We know about the physical body and we know how the body works. We know that the blood is pumped by the heart through the whole body, and even to the extremities of it, that is, to your legs which are way down there. For some of us who are very tall our heart has to pump further than for others. And so, the Lord uses the word “Body” so that we might understand.
Try to imagine now: if you have a blockage anywhere in your veins, the blood cannot flow. I remember one time my foot began to get dark, black, and I began to feel numbness in my toes. I realized I had a circulation problem. Therefore, I went to a therapist. He dug his finger down into my muscles and it pained me way up in my head! I asked him, “What’s going on?” He replied, “The muscles are tightened up and they squeeze and prevent the blood flow from coming down to your foot.” Do you think some of us tighten up and that is why we are not getting the flow in the Body of Christ?
So the therapist worked on my leg and worked on it and worked on it. And He said I had to walk. I got a treadmill and started walking. Sometimes, the leg felt like it was going to drop off and I had to stop. Then I would start again. I would not give up. I noticed that the more I walked, the better I walked. Do you think it has some relationship to the Body of Christ?
Each one of us has been made to be a certain part of the Body. However, some of us are not exercising that which God has given us. As a result of it, when the blood comes to you, it is jammed, it cannot get through, and it doesn’t flow out of you to the other individual that needs it. Therefore, when you get into an exercise session, for example to the meeting of the saints, you have to open up to the Lord, and as you do, the Blood will flow. God has ordained for His life Blood to flow through the Body so that the Body might function properly and be healed.
