Some years ago I had a vision, which I would like to share with you. In this vision God was preparing us, the people of God, for a race. When we got up to the starting point, we suddenly turned into horses. At this point I noticed that there was a lion that wanted to eat one of the horses. He came in and sat down in our midst like a man. We got very indignant and felt that if we got together, we could kill him. But God spoke and said, “Don’t kill the lion for he has to have his portion.” Nevertheless, we were so indignant that we were going to kill him anyway. I went over to him to strike him, but he said to me, “Remember what God said!” We all had to back off.
The time came for us to run our race. All the horses began to run. The lion was running in the back. We couldn’t see what was going on there, but we knew instinctively that he was going to eat some of the horses. It was very sad but we just had to obey God. The horses in the back were going to be eaten by the lion.
It has been a source of sadness in my soul to know that some of us are going to fail. When I look and see what is happening with some of the young people who, at the time when it is the most important for us to press on in God, are pulling back, it makes me sad. Even among the ministry, I have seen a pulling back. Many have lost the excitement they had at the beginning. Instead of pressing forward, they are looking back to the weak and beggarly elements of the world. The world has nothing to offer. Whatever we gain now, we are going to leave behind and lose anyway.
Brethren, some of us are losers and are becoming lion’s meat, devil’s food, because of the decisions we make. Nevertheless, there were overcomers in the vision, too. God has ordained all of us, every individual, to be an overcomer. And, you can be assured that God would not ordain you to be an overcomer if He did not see that you could make it. God knows that you can make it. That is why He has called you to this hour. Esther was called “for such a time as this” and so are you.
