“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38)
In the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles Jesus cried, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” It means to say that once you drink Jesus, you do not want any other drink. Some of us say we drink of Jesus and yet desire other drinks, but it only means that we have not yet had Jesus. For when you take this drink in and absorb Him into your being, you become a fountain of living water.
I remember the time when we were in Florence, Alabama. We were having a series of meetings in the Assembly of God church. There was a young man there who was a pianist. He played the piano so marvelously! I preached to them about God anointing a person to do His will. This young man came up to me after the meeting and said, “Brother duCille, I want God to anoint me so that I could really play the piano.” I replied, “All right. Let us pray and fast for that anointing upon you tomorrow night.” He stopped eating and I fasted with him and prayed over him.
He was so anxious for the anointing of God that he arrived at the meeting about a half an hour before everybody else and just started to play. As he did, the whole building began to vibrate with the energy of God. That day we did not have the regular song service. People walked from the door straight down to the altar and wept and wept under the power of God. That young man said not a word. All his talking was with the piano. And the people were on their knees weeping for their sins.
This is what the anointing of God does. It is like rivers of living water flowing out of you and bringing life wherever they flow.
