Destruction of the Church

“And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” (Revelation 18:2)

This scripture is talking about the church and I want you to notice the following: Why did He say, “Babylon…is fallen”? It is not because they were not picking up enough collection, it is not because they were not preaching some truth, and it is not because their institutions were diminished in any way. As a matter of fact, more souls are being saved there than in places where the word of the Kingdom of God is preached – but they are fallen! Remember, even many years after God rejected Saul he still remained as king, but he was fallen! He was finished! He was a “Dead man walking!”

God is saying that Babylon is fallen because it is taken by spirits! Isn’t this what it says? That all the evil men, evil spirits, devils – they were all hiding under the Babylonish system – posing as Christians!” It says, “From such turn away.”

I want you to understand. Mr. Robeson was a Southern Baptist. He was one of their star ministers, but “came out.” One day a man got ahold of him and he got “really” saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost; and he began to preach.

He tells a story. He said the church system was nothing but wickedness and rottenness. When he came out he preached to his own men. He said that he was shocked to see who came to the altar or to him secretly to ask him to pray for them, because they were in adultery and other kinds of sin!

Why didn’t the Church discover this? Don’t you think if somebody here in your midst was in adultery, you would discover it? You had better! If you have the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost is going to reveal sin in your midst!

I was pastoring a church at one point in time. One day I invited an evangelist to come preach for me. I went to the podium to introduce him, and the moment I said, “Brethren, today we welcome…,” the Spirit turned me around and I began to talk to the man in tongues. I rebuked him! I was ashamed and frightened. I tried again. I went to introduce him, and I turned around again and rebuked him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! We were distressed. We did not know what to do. It ended up that I had to preach the message. When I finished preaching, I called the man to ask, “What is wrong?” Some of the girls came in and told me what was wrong. The man was in sin. He was attacking the young people in the church – an evangelist who came to preach for me!

Another time I visited a church to preach, and involuntarily ran down to a man and prophesied to him in the name of the Lord. I did not know what I was doing. I found out that the man and many other members of the church were taken by sin. They claimed that I wrecked the church and never called me back. However, the truth was that the church was taken by sin, and if a church is taken by sin that church is “Babylon,” because it is taken by every foul demon and devil, and yet people live in it comfortably. If the devil comes to church and is comfortable with you, then you are in Babylon.

The spirits of Babylon will cause you to do things that are contrary to God. And you will think that you are doing right! The more you continue to do it, the worse it gets. You get so dead and so blind that you cannot hear God anymore, and when God speaks to you, you will say it is the devil. Then when the devil speaks to you, you will say it is God.

I remember going to a meeting with one of today’s great prophets. Many of you are eating his material and following him. Yet, the man is working in the occult. He does not know God but is one of the great prophets who is preaching to America as well as to the world. I go to Africa and they are asking me if I know him. Let me tell you my experience with this prophet.

We were in this meeting in Minneapolis. I had never met the man before. I was asked to speak but the moment I started it began to hurt him. By the time I was to finish, he was beside himself with madness. I took about ten or twenty minutes and when I sat down, he was up and immediately began to curse me. He started his speech with, “I am the prophet of the Lord,” and began to curse me. He had never seen me before in his life, yet he started cursing me and telling everybody that this man duCille came from nowhere, did not know anything about God, but had picked up some old teaching somewhere and came to pour it out upon the people of God. He said, “Don’t listen to him! None of you listen to him!” All the men in the congregation fell for him except the man I was with, another young man who was there, and a young pastor of the church in Kansas City. Those three men never fell for him. It went so badly that one other man also got up and started to curse me. Remember, none of them knew me except the person who I was with. I was sitting down contemplating, “God, why is this man cursing me?” Then, I realized that the spirit that was in the man was not of God. I was learning who those men were. They didn’t realize that nobody could curse me unless he is of the devil. I was made aware that my spirit was disturbing them.

The Lord said to me, “Don’t move, don’t leave.” You see, I was being cursed in order to leave. I sat there through the whole meeting, went with them for lunch and came back. I came back and sat down! One man got up and said, “Well, this is amazing. I thought Brother duCille would have left. The way he was treated I thought he would have left.” I said, “No,” and would not move. It was a spirit that wanted me to leave that place. But I decided to sit down on top of that spirit. So, I never left.

Later I found out that two more of their great prophets, one who I was acquainted with, the other one I did not know but had heard about him because he was so very mighty over the whole United States, sent a written message saying, “We are sorry we can’t be in the meeting with you for if any man comes to the meeting and says, ‘Jesus Christ will soon be here,’ know that this man nor his word are of God. Jesus Christ is not coming within the next thirty or more years.” That also proved to me that they were not hearing from God.

You know, I was a sinner all my young life. I knew nothing and Jesus Christ came to me. When He took away the spirits of war, the gun that was on my bed, and all the other things, I said, “You must be God! No man could do these things unless He is God. And because you are God, I want you to come to my room every day and teach me.” He agreed and began to come. When He did, all the human qualities began to leave me. The desire for food left. For the whole seven months I don’t know what I ate. But I was not starving, I was being blessed by Jesus Christ. One thing I realized though: I began to see myself; I saw all that I was. Every time I would have this deep regret, God would comfort me, deliver me and tell me, “This is where you have been delivered from.” A deep, deep pit that was almost bottomless. He showed me I was delivered out of that pit and I began to thank Him, I began to praise Him. Because I saw Jesus, I saw myself, and I knew how much “nothing” I was. When I hear men say they are great men of God and do things they do, I am sorry for them. They have never seen themselves, they have never seen Jesus. If you see Jesus, you feel lower than a dog. You just feel to bore down into the earth, because what you are looking at is so far above you.

On another occasion, I was in a meeting in Ft. Lauderdale. Derek Prince and others big ministers were sitting there before me. A brother got up and said, “I had a dream a while ago.” The others were curious so they asked, “What was your dream?” He replied, “I saw a dry stump upon the platform and dry bones growing out of the stump.” Another brother, who wanted to embarrass me, got up and said, “Brother Ces is the man to tell us the meaning of the dream.” There were thousands of people sitting there and he wanted me off the bat. “Come up, brother, come up,” he kept encouraging me. I went to the platform and wanted to say, “Brethren, I don’t understand one thing about this dream…” but the moment I opened my mouth, the Lord said, “This is what it means: somebody on the platform is a dry stump and is bringing forth nothing but dry bones.” I had to say it. When I did, those guys rose up against me! One Episcopal priest with his white collar got up, stomped his foot and said, “I am no dry bones!” But you know what the real truth was? The guy who called me up and wanted to embarrass me was a homosexual. A couple weeks after this incident, there was a big scandal for he attacked somebody in the group. The scandal broke up the whole group.

Then, I began to look at the Word of God. God told me that about the year 2,000 there will be a great destruction in the church. As a matter of fact, he showed me that it would be destroyed all together. He called it Babylon. And I call it Babylon, too, because it is a mixture of God and the devil. It doesn’t mean that somebody in there doesn’t belong to God, but they are slaves in Babylon. It so happened that this destruction, this explosion, has occurred and we never saw it. We never understood it. But the church was destroyed; the church has fully turned over to Satan. I will tell you what was the sign of it: the Toronto blessing. People fluttering on the floor means that they are taken by an evil spirit. When you see that happening, you cast that spirit out. When Jesus was called to cast the devil out of the boy who was thrown to the floor and torn by the spirit, He just said, “Come out of him.”

The destruction of the church happened around that time and in the year 2,000 it was completed. Brethren, be careful as to where you fellowship and which message you listen to. You don’t want to be found in the midst of destruction. May the Lord give you wisdom and a heart longing to know the truth.
