Scripture reading: Luke 10:19; Zechariah 4:6

Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” This says something. It says that the Church is in an attacking position! Gates are not used for attacking, but for defending. The Bible says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church, which means that the Church will be anointed of God to tear down the gates of hell.

God divinely put in the Scriptures the story of a man called Samson in a harlot’s house. He awoke at midnight; he was touched and anointed by the Spirit of God, and transformed into a mighty wrecking machine. This terrible anointed wrecking machine took hold of the gate. Mighty men of valor were standing behind the walls with their swords ready to pierce him through.

You see, no man can stand against the anointing of God. There are many among us who are coming against the basic gospel of Jesus Christ. Some are coming against the Blood; some are coming against the baptism of the Holy Ghost; and others, against the speaking in tongues, etc. However, it is God they are really fighting against.

These men were ready to tear down the man Samson. Their covenant with the demons and devils that motivated them was destroyed by the anointing of the Lord upon Samson. They were sure they had Samson all cornered now, but God Almighty touched him and he became a mighty wrecking machine. Only the anointing of God could make an ordinary man be able to lay hold of and lift the gate of a city. It probably weighed a hundred tons. He shook the gate, and the walls were torn asunder; he rooted the gate out of the sockets as he backed off with it. The gates of Gaza could not stand against Samson, so the gates of hell will not stand against the church (God’s anointed people)! Jesus said, “Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).

Remember – it is by faith! “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord (God) of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). By faith, the anointing will break the powers of hell and set the people of God free.

Start at your doorstep. Start in your home. Start in your area. Spot a man, spot a woman, target someone for Jesus. Start praying for them and the forces of hell will let them loose, because you believe God and because you are one of the “lively stones (Peter).” Hell will not be able to stand before the Church when she moves, for Jesus said, “…and whatsoever you bind on earth is bound in heaven! And whatsoever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven!

What is Jesus talking about? Look at the Church. I am talking about all the people of God who have been washed by the Blood of Jesus. They do not have to belong to our group. They do not have to believe what we believe. They do not have to have the same sensibility towards God that we have, but just look at the Church on the whole, big and small, and tell me if you see a free people. Or, do you see a people who are bound?

The people of God are bound everywhere and God is rising up a people and giving them the power to lose them. Those who have received the Word of the Kingdom have become responsible. The church that has eyes to see, the church that has the Holy Spirit, the church that has the river of God flowing through them, the church that has the firstfruits of God – those who believe, those who speak of having the firstfruits of God, those who desire the fullness of Jesus Christ – you have now become responsible! Every single one of you, from the youngest to the oldest, has become responsible for the condition of the Church at large.

Thought for today: Take the power that has been given to you, start praying for the people of God, and the forces of hell will let them loose.

Scripture reading: Matthew 16:13-19

Let us see if we can understand this passage in Matthew 16 as I believe that having this understanding is very important for every one of us. In the dialogue between Jesus and Peter, it is not something that God was saying just to Peter. Jesus was not saying to Peter that he was the only one who had the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, but that all of you who get this revelation are building on the rock and this rock is Christ Jesus. The word “Peter” means “a little stone.” Moreover, He punned upon the word “stone,” and said “rock.” Jesus is the “rock!” “…And upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The relationship between the stone and the rock is that a stone is a little piece of the rock.

Jesus went a little further and said, “…and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Jesus gave a people a mandate to bind the devil, thus giving us a mandate to bind devils. We have not been using it as much as we ought. We need to use it more effectively, for I have discovered that we can “overload” Satan’s circuits (if you understand what I am saying). Have you ever had a circuit overload? You turn on your stove on high yet you are getting low heat because your circuits are “overloaded.” There are too many things pulling power on the same circuit! Overloading Satan’s circuits might sound preposterous, but do you know why this is possible? It is because Satan is limited. He has limits to his ability and scope while God is unlimited! Therefore, we are dealing with a limited Satan and an unlimited God! Hallelujah!

Now, if you press Satan to his limits, he does all kinds of foolishness. Like one time he got some unfortunate brother and sister to write me a letter that was against the Blood of Jesus Christ. Satan had lost his marbles! Aren’t you glad that he is losing his marbles? He’s getting wild and desperate! When Satan writes to the church a letter going against the Blood of Jesus Christ as a weapon, he must be pretty desperate. The Blood of Jesus Christ is given to sanctify, save our souls, deliver us from evil, bring down the kingdoms of darkness, and destroy devils. He is really running out of ammunition and cannot seem to find anything else to attack us with. He is in trouble! Revelation 12:12b says, “…For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Let us look into a few pointers on how to overload the circuits of the devil and at the outset let me ask you to do it every morning, and every day at midday, and every night! So that, while the brethren in America are sleeping, the brethren in Germany will be doing it. Then we will call to the brethren in Africa, and then we will go further to the brethren in India (who are nine hours different in time from us), and so on, so that we will have an around the clock bombardment of the devil. We will break the enemy down and will destroy him from our midst. Hallelujah!

Scripture reading: Matthew 16:13-20

The Bible records in Matthew 16:16-17 that when Peter said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,” Jesus answered him and said, “Blessed art thou…for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” Then, it says that Jesus went on to say in verse 18, “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

What He said is very peculiar, for He did not say the “armies of hell,” but He said the “gates of hell.” You do not attack people with your gate. You do not do that unless you are in a defensive position and the people are attacking your gate. What Jesus actually said was that when the Christians move to attack, hell’s gates will not stand! Amen!

We saw the example of it with Samson. We read in Judges 16 that Samson got up at midnight while there were men behind the wall waiting for him. They were ready to jump him as he came through the gate. But by the time he got to the gate, the Spirit of God fell on him and he rushed upon the gate and took it off. It was nothing short of an earthquake for the men who were behind the gate. Samson shook the whole gate, pulled it backwards and out at the roots.

He was not that tall. You might be thinking that Samson was a man-mountain and that he lifted up the gate off its hinges. No! No! He pulled the gate out at the root, going backwards, and the men who were lying in ambush behind the wall fled for their lives.

Now Samson, in that section of the story, is a type of the Body of Christ that will rise at midnight out of the harlot’s house, out of the place of spiritual harlotry! Out of the place of mixture! Mixture! Mixing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the works of the devil. Mixing it with the words of the devil: half right/half wrong! Three-quarters right/one quarter wrong! You know what I am saying! God is going to redeem us from the harlot’s house by the Spirit of God falling on the Church at midnight.

I will tell you the secret. You cannot, overnight, get up and get the power of God to bring down the kingdom of the devil. Do you hear me? You cannot overnight just get up and say, “I am going to bring down the kingdom of Satan.” God did say you are going to bring it down, but it is not an overnight action. To understand what God is saying, look at the example when you take a gun in your hands. Let us say that you take a nine-millimeter gun and fire it. What happens inside of that gun? The first thing that gets the shock is the gun! The gun gets the shock (the recoil) of the bullet before the bullet can go forward to hit the enemy. If you do not have the fortitude in you, then how do you expect to overcome a devil with your words? Do you understand what I am saying, brethren? We will get help from God, but God wants us to be in a position to fight back.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, January 1997, pg. 7-9)

Thought for today: Let us use the circumstances we find ourselves in to gain our strength in God and rise into a position where we will be able to attack the gates of hell and they shall not prevail against us.
