(The message for this issue is from a word given by Cecil duCille at the March 1997 Florida Convention.)
Let us turn to Matthew chapter 16, and let us look for context from verse 13, “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of the living God.”
As we consider these scriptures, let us remember that all this was spoken in Hebrew, and it had one specific meaning; there was no double talk, no pun, nor any such thing on it. It was saying exactly what it meant: “Thou art the Messiah.” That means the Son of God, who was expected to come into the earth at some time, and to redeem Israel. Peter said, “You are this one — the living God in human flesh.”
Verses 17-19, “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona (son of Jonah): for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (a pebble), and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and wliatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Amen.
Let us look at John 17 and apply a scriptural principle to these words; the same principle that the Holy Ghost applied when God spake to the Jews way down there with Moses, and with Abraham, and throughout the whole Bible. The principle is the application of the promises, which God gave to the Jews in the Old Testament to the church of the New Testament.
For instance: Jeremiah 31:31-33, “Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God and they shall be my people.”
Paul the apostle, in Hebrews 8:10, repeats the same promise as having been given to the church, thus equating the church with Israel, and quoting God as having said to the church, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.”
Thus we can see clearly that the Word of God was given to the Jews, but God did not call the Jews by the name “Jews.” He said, “I give it to Israel.” Amen? And in another place He said, “Israel is my firstborn,” yet we know that you, who are born again by the blood of Jesus Christ, are the firstborn.
When, therefore, God gives a word in the Old Testament, you have to see it in the Spirit to understand it and be able to apply it contemporaneously. In John chapter 17, we see Jesus praying to the Father, and in verse 20 He said, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.”
In Matthew 16:13, in the dialogue between Jesus and Peter, this principle is applied here in a different way, in that Jesus is talking to Peter, and it is applied to us! It is important at this point, that you understand that this is what God is saying to us, and not just to Peter. Jesus was using this same principle, which we see the apostle Paul use in applying the Old Testament promises to the church. Jesus was not saying to Peter that he was the only one who has this revelation, but that all of you who get this revelation that Jesus is the Christ — you are all building on the rock — on this rock, Christ Jesus. The word Peter means a “little stone.” And He punned upon the word “stone,” and said “rock.” Jesus is the rock! Amen. “Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The relationship between the stone and the rock is that a stone is a little piece of the rock.
Jesus went a little further and He said, “Whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Jesus gave a people a mandate to bind the devil, thus giving us a mandate to bind devils.
We have not been using it as much as we ought. We need to use it more effectively, for I have discovered that we can “overload” Satan’s circuits — if you understand what I am saying? Have you ever had a circuit overload? You turn on your stove and you turn it on high, yet you are getting low heat, because your circuits are “overloaded.” There are too many things pulling power on the same circuit! I might sound preposterous, but do you know why this is possible? [It is because] Satan is limited. He has limits to his ability and scope. God is unlimited! So we are dealing with a limited Satan and an unlimited God! Hallelujah!
Now, if you press Satan to his limits, he does all kinds of foolishness. Like getting some unfortunate brother and sister to write me a letter against the blood of Jesus Christ. Satan has lost his marbles! Amen. Aren’t you glad that he is losing his marbles? He’s getting wild and desperate! When Satan writes to the church a letter going against the blood of Jesus Christ as a weapon, he must be pretty desperate. The blood of Jesus Christ is given to sanctify, save our souls, deliver us from evil, bring down the kingdoms of darkness and destroy devils. Amen! He is really running out of ammunition, and cannot seem to find anything else to attack us with. He is in trouble! Revelation 12:12b, “For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
Let us look into a few pointers (on) how to overload the circuits of the devil, and at the outset, let me ask you to do it every morning, do it every midday and do it every night! While we are sleeping, the brethren in Germany will be doing it. Then we will call to the brethren in India, who are nine hours different in time from us, and then we will go further to Africa, etc., and so, we will have an around the clock bombardment of the devil. We will break him down! Hallelujah! And we will destroy him from our midst. Hallelujah!
Let us go back upon the Word a little bit, and take some context here. First of all, in Matthew 16:13, Jesus says, “Whom do men say that I am?” Actually, what the men say Jesus is does not really count! What counts is who YOU believe Jesus is! Amen!
We have not employed the power of Jesus to the extent and with the intensity that we should. We all get in trouble, and sometimes we forgot to call upon the name of Jesus. Hallelujah! But, we want you to remember, “That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow!” (Philippians 2:10) Amen. Hallelujah!
What does that mean — “That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow?” Somebody believes it means that these people are going to praise God and say, “Oh, Lord God, you are wonderful.” That is one way to bow the knee — that is the way Christians bow the knee. But, when a strong man meets a stronger man, he bows the knee — by force. We are talking about spiritual force, and we do have the power to overthrow Satan and all his works. Do you know why the church will do it now? It is [because this is] the hour — our time has come. The time has come. Our time is near at hand! Let me show you, because somebody does not believe that we are really at the time.
Daniel chapter 7:27. It says here, “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.”
Who is the power being given to? “The people of the saints of the most High” will break Satan! Amen. We are not talking about any rapture — I mean to run away and to leave things in this condition. We are talking about beating the devil by the power of the blood and the Spirit; beating him in this earth, in this life; overcoming him and standing on mount Zion with Jesus Christ! Amen! Amen!
We are talking to an overcoming people! Those of you who do not believe in overcoming, you might as well leave now. I am talking to a people who are slated, who are designated, who are mandated to overcome the devil! The same devil that is striking you in your body; the same devil that is making you sick; the same devil that sends some of us to the hospital; the same devil that sends some of us to every kind of degradation, sin, destruction and distress — that same devil!
We are mandated by God to destroy him, and we have the power. Oh, yes! Amen. We should not bow to the beatings and the slappings of the devil, because if God did not know that we were tough enough, He would not have allowed him to slap us so hard. Amen. Some of the things I see some of you going through, I say, “My God, what would I do if I were in that position?”
Here is a sister who is slapped by the devil with breast cancer. Yes, she had a mastectomy seven days ago. She must be in pain, but the devil did not stop her from traveling from Nebraska to this meeting. That is something to shout about! Amen! Because if the devil could have killed her, he would not have given her breast cancer. He would have just killed her.
The point is that God says of the sons of God, “They loved not their lives unto the death.” (Revelation 12:11b). God is making soldiers out of us. People who will not give up because the storm is raging. People who will not give up because things are going against us. People who will not give up because they are weary!
Sometimes, you feel like you cannot go another minute. You are weary, you are tired, you are distressed, you are embattled on every hand — that is the time to fight. Hallelujah! Amen! For, then, victory is just ahead!
Yet, we must remember 2nd Corinthians 10:4-5, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
The apostle Paul, writing to Timothy, encouraged him in the Holy Ghost. 1st Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
“Who do you say that I am?” That was the question that Jesus Christ asked the brethren — the apostles: “But, whom say ye that I am?” Yes. They told Him what the people were saying. They said that “He is John the Baptist;” “He is Elias;” “He is Jeremiah.” What does that tell you? That tells us that the doctrine that the people had was a false doctrine, because they believed in reincarnation. If you are telling me that John the Baptist, or Elias, or any other Christian who has passed on is returning to this life in another body, then you are believing in reincarnation. Right away, Jesus and the brethren saw through it, that these people were all wrong. They were not recognizing Jesus Christ — Jesus, the Messiah. They were not recognizing Him as God in human flesh.
God said that He will appear again, but they are not really believing it now, either! They are not believing that you have Jesus in you. Now, do you believe it? If you don’t believe you have Jesus in you, you are in trouble.
The people saw a man. They saw a flesh and bone (and) blood man standing before them. “Who do you think I am?” Jesus asked.
God called me. God sent me. God spoke to me personally, and I never doubted who I was, from that time until this. I never doubted who I am. So, God allowed various men to come against me. He allowed various organizations to come against me. He allowed all kinds of satanic forces to come against me. [But, it] never fazed me.
Somebody asked me, “Why do you survive? Why do you function?” I came into a place like the United States, and went right contrary, opposite against the doctrines that were being preached in the churches. Hallelujah! I have been kicked out of church after church after church. On one occasion, when they kicked me out, a brother was sympathizing with me. I said, “Brother, you are wasting your sympathy. You go sympathize with the people who missed the opportunity of haying the Word of God preached to them.” He said, “No, you can’t be serious! You can’t really mean that!” I said, “That’s exactly how I feel. That’s exactly what I mean, and exactly what I know.” You know why? Because I know who I am. I know when Jesus called me and said, “I want you to go and preach the gospel to My people.” Amen?
Black churches have called me. They said, “We want you to work with us. We want you to be our apostle. You don’t have to worry about money or anything. We will just make you (the) number one man.” I said, “I am already called and sent.” They never understood me. I said, “I am already called and sent, and I am sent to God’s people. I am not sent to anybody with any special color!” Amen! I said, “Anywhere God’s people are — who will hear the word of the Kingdom — there I will go.”
I think God laughs at people who see color and all that sort of thing, because we should know that God doesn’t have a color. I understand He doesn’t have a skin. Because the color is in your skin, right? And if He doesn’t have any skin, He can’t have a color.
The carnal man will always think of a carnal God to satisfy his own carnal nature. Let us try to think of God. We asked God to come and flow through us like a river. If God was a man, He couldn’t flow through us like a river. He could not fill us, and fill the whole earth, and fill the people in their various lands at the same time, and fill the whole universe! He could not do that. He would be restricted.
I want you to know that God is seeking a people at this time, and He wants volunteers. You are only going to fit the type for God to use if you can volunteer. And when you volunteer, you have to volunteer everything. Everything you have, everything you own, everything you are, and everything you ever hoped to be. That is what He wants! And that will qualify you to be part of the firstfruits company! Yes! That will qualify you to stand with Jesus on Mount Zion! That will qualify you to receive the name (or nature) called 144,000. 144,000! — it has never been fulfilled all through the ages. The question is — what does that number mean? It is not a figure. It is a name.
God is calling a people, and let us read what He says of this people, “And I say also unto thee (Peter), That thou art Peter, and upon this rock…” I am not Peter, and you are not Peter. So, who are you? You are one of those lively stones built up into a spiritual household (1st Peter 2:5)! You are “a stone!” You are Peter! Amen!
So, Peter — thou “stone” — you are part of this magnificent building which God is constructing in the earth, and this building must have a foundation! The foundation must be upon the rock, Christ Jesus. “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Yeshua Hamashiah! Hallelujah! “Thou art the Christ!” “Jesus!” “The Christ!” “The Son of the living God!”
I know what it is to call upon the name of Jesus Christ — in Spirit and in truth. The time you call best is when you have ten tons of demons on you. That is the time you really call, “JESUS!” That is the time you cry out (the) best. I am speaking from experience.
“Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”
No matter how I preach, I cannot reveal the “name” of Jesus to you. It must be a part of you! You must imbibe it! You must think about it! You must believe it! You must take it in, NIGHT AND DAY! He said, “Put it as frontlets before thine eyes, and let it become a part of you.” As this name — this nature (I changed the word from name to “nature”) — becomes a part of you, you become a part of Him. “…And I will love him …And we (I and the Father) will come unto (in) him and make our abode with (within) them.” (John 14:21,23).
When is He going to love you with that kind of a love? “IF you will keep my words, …and [IF] my words abide in you…” Did you understand it? Anything you continuously think about; anything you do; anything you study — IT BECOMES A PART OF YOU! Glory to God!
This is why I say to the people of God, there is grave danger in studying psychology! We should not allow the world to teach us and our children man’s psychology in their schools. Psychology is a destruction to the mind of Christ. God is a Spirit, and He created man as a spiritual being, and the mind as His dwelling place, through which He can communicate with us, Spirit to spirit. Psychology is a science which deals with the mind and the behavior of man from a HUMAN POINT OF VIEW.
Some of you, my readers, are bound by this spirit. Psychology is a demonic thing that man teaches man about man! You meet a person, and because you studied psychology, you keep looking into his eyes. You ask him a shocking statement, “Did you steal the book?” and you look into his eyes? You want to see his reaction.
You studied that, and it is difficult as children of God to get away from it, and trust the discernment of the Spirit. It is difficult to get away from physiognomy. You look at a person’s face, and you see the different marks in his face, and you begin to sum him up from the marks in his face! He might have just gotten saved, and all those marks remain there. Their meaning might have been canceled by the Holy Ghost, and now they have no meaning, but you are believing a lie, because you are trusting what science says about those facial marks. Glory to God!
I now speak the word in the name of Jesus Christ! I loose you from the psychology spirit that is in many of you — which you are learning at school. I command your deliverance in the name of Jesus!
I break your yoke, you lying spirit! Get out of the church of God! Get out of the house of God! Get out of the temple of the living God! There is no place here for you. You have long occupied the people. You have long deceived the nations. Now your time has come. In the name of Jesus Christ, I speak against you! In the mighty name of Jesus!
And by the power of God, we break up your organization — that organized spirit that is coming into the people — creeping into the church! That demon of the world, that has crept in among the people of God, and crept into the minds of the people…and take them from the houses of preachers, and preaching, and churches and Sunday school…And the demonic psychology which is destroying the people. Let the people go!
“Thou art the Christ…” “…I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom…” After Jesus said this to Peter, Peter went and he opened up the church at Pentecost to the Jews and to the nations. The bible said that at Pentecost, Peter got up and used the key! Amen! He used the key to open the kingdom of God to the world of men. It says Peter went down to Joppa, and he used the key again. Every time Peter used the key, they who believed spoke in tongues.
Remember the principle which said God was not speaking to Peter alone, but He was speaking to every stone. God is speaking to every Peter (every living stone in this spiritual house), and as you go forth you will open doors to the kingdom of God.
The word says that in the kingdom, there was a way and a highway, and that, “…no fools shall err therein” by the highway, because it was “the way of holiness” (Isaiah 35:8). We have become the way through Jesus for some little child, for some adult, for some person out there. God has made you a way, a gate, an entering in, a path! You might be rubbing shoulders with them every day, and you might be the way which God has ordained for them to enter into the Kingdom.
“..J will give you the keys…” Let us thank the Lord Jesus for the key. We have the key. “THANK YOU FOR THE KEY, MY GOD!” I am a little stone, but part of the household of God. We are lively stones fitly joined together, building up the temple of the living God.
“Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” This says something. It says that the church is in an attacking position! Gates are not used for attacking, but for defending. The Bible says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church, which means that the church will be anointed of God to tear down the gates of hell.
God divinely put in the scriptures the story of a man called Samson in a harlot’s house. He awoke at midnight, touched and anointed by the Spirit of God; and he was transformed into a mighty wrecking machine. This terrible, anointed wrecking machine lay hold of the gate. Behind the walls, mighty men of valor were standing there with their swords ready to pierce him through.
No man can stand against the anointing of God. There are many among us who are coming against the basic gospel of Jesus Christ. Some are coming against the blood; some are coming against the baptism of the Holy Ghost; and others the speaking in tongues etc. But, they are really fighting against God.
These men were there, ready to tear down the man Samson. Their covenant with the demons and devils which motivated them was destroyed by the anointing of the Lord upon Samson. They were sure they had him all cornered now, but God Almighty touched him. He became a mighty wrecking machine. Only the anointing of God could make an ordinary man be able to lay hold [of and lift] the gate of a city (it probably weighed 100 tons). He shook the gate, and the walls tore asunder, and he rooted it out of the sockets as he backed off with it.
The gates of Gaza could not stand against Samson, so the gates of hell will not stand against the church (God’s anointed people)! Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19).
Remember — it is by faith! “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord (God) of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6). By faith, the anointing will break the powers of hell and set the people of God free.
Start at your doorstep. Start in your home. Start in your area. Spot a man, spot a woman; target someone for Jesus, and start praying for him [or her], and the forces of hell will let him loose because you believe God, and because you are one of the lively stones (Peter). Hell will not be able to stand before the church when she moves: “…And whatsoever you bind on earth is bound in heaven! And whatsoever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven!”
What is Jesus talking about? Look at the church. I am talking about all the people of God who have been washed by the blood of Jesus. They do not have to belong to our group. They do not have to believe what we believe. They do not have to have the same sensibility towards God that we have, but just look at the church on the whole, big and small, and tell me if you see a people bound? Tell me if you see a free people?
The people of God are bound everywhere, and God is raising up a people, and giving them the power to loose them. Those who have received the word have become responsible. The church that has eyes to see; the church that has the Holy Ghost; the church that has the river of God flowing through them; the church that has the frrstfruits of God; those who believe; those who speak of having the firstfruits of God; those who desire the fullness of Jesus Christ — YOU HAVE NOW BECOME RESPONSIBLE. Every single one of you — from the youngest to the oldest — you have become responsible for the condition of the church at large. Responsibility carries with it a certain amount of guilt. (Now, do not go on a guilt trip.)
We need to begin to bind the devil in every area where we live. We must start now to bind Satan; to bind his work in your different areas, in your towns, in wherever you live — to bind the ruling spirits. Amen! God has given you [the church] the power, and a mandate to bind and to loose! Amen! You have become responsible through your knowledge, and “…for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9). As God’s people recognize their responsibility, the power of devils will be bound all over the earth from continent to continent; from sea to sea.
What will happen next is that Satan will attack the church. Some people are afraid to bind Satan, because they feel that he is going to attack them, but since we have the power to bind him, then his attack will not mean too much. I believe that the reason he is attacking us so much at this time is because we are not binding him enough. If one has the firepower to stop an enemy, then that one should not be afraid to provoke him. [We have] the firepower to stop him.
Satan dares not to manifest in the world as he would like to. I remember the time when flying saucers were the talk of the town. Everybody was talking about flying saucers. People were reporting seeing flying saucers. I happen to know some friends of mine who actually saw one of the things land in their yard. Do you know why those reports never came off to anything? Most of it was demon activity, and the littlest child here, the youngest baby here in our midst, if she binds Satan in the name of Jesus, it would destroy him, and disrupt his charade. It would pull up all his organization.
I remember brother Mark giving us a revelation in Champaign, concerning when we speak and say “loose,” that it breaks up the concentration of the devils. You have the power to loose and to bind. When a devil comes out to do a job, he is programmed, like a computer is programmed, to do certain things to you, and he can not help but keep on doing, doing, doing — unless you hit him! By the power of God!
When you speak the Word of God through the Spirit of God — (I don’t say you must go around and speak, “Loose! Loose! Loose!” The devil does not hear that.) — But, when the thing comes from the Spirit, and the Spirit of God moves in you, it becomes absolutely effective. In your private prayer time, call upon Jesus; call upon His name. “Fill my being, O Lord God. Fill my cup, Lord. I lift it up, Lord!”
When you are filled, you are going to overflow, and it will flow through your mouth, and as the revelation came to brother Mark, he said when you speak the word “loose” to a spirit, it disorganizes him. It pulls him up like you pull up an engine, (and the) parts are scattered all over. He cannot function, because you have ripped him apart with the Word of God. The order “loose” from the Holy Ghost to a spirit breaks up his organization! Glory to God!
Let us look at one more scripture before we close. We are to bind spirits and we are to loose the people of God. Your power to bind and to loose is to bind spirits, to loose their organization and their orders that they have gotten (their program). You pull up, break up, dismember their program. To bind them is to stop them from being able to do what they were supposed to do, and to loose and to deliver the people of God. That is our job.
Let me ask you now to go around everywhere, every place — beginning to pray, right now, that the devils in your area be bound, and we will also bind all the spirits in these areas where we live, so that this meeting might go forward with power, and the glory of God might come down in our midst.
Let us read Ephesians 3:10, where God says that we were brought here to teach devils, and that by the church would be made known to them the manifold wisdom of God.
“To the intent (meaning to say that this is God’s intention) that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.” Meaning to say, the church is teaching the whole spiritual realm, both heaven and hell, “the manifold wisdom of God.”
I remember meeting a devil one time, and when he got the blow from the blood of Jesus Christ — now, I know all my friends don’t like to hear this, so I give them a little more of it — when he got the blow from the blood of Jesus Christ, I saw the cross of Jesus rise up before me. I saw the blood falling down, and when the demon got the blow from the blood of Jesus Christ, he said that he had never seen this before. He had not seen this happen before! Now, it means that he had been conquering; he was hurting Christians; he was doing his thing. He believed that he was invincible, until that moment when he met the church of the living God, and got slammed! Glory to God! Amen!
Brethren, please pray with us. Begin now to call upon the name of Jesus to break the yokes and bondages that have long enshrouded the people of God. Call upon the name of Jesus to break the power of Satan in your area. Hallelujah!
Let us all join together to pray to God that the bondages be broken, and that everyone of my readers who is bound by spirits will be let loose in the name of Jesus Christ; that every sickness will be touched, and every body will be healed (healing is the children’s bread); that the Lord God will manifest Himself in our midst to set at liberty them that are bruised! “For the day of deliverance has come,” saith the Lord God. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.
We pray, my God, that You send forth Your mighty angels, and bind every devil in our areas. Bind the satanic forces. Bind the powers of darkness. Bind the principalities in our various areas. Bind them now, Lord God, and set the people free! Let men be saved! Let men be delivered. Let men be cleansed! Hallelujah! In the mighty name of Jesus! Hallelujah! In the mighty name of Jesus! Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus! Hallelujah! Amen!
