Scripture reading: Luke 10:19; Zechariah 4:6

Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” This says something. It says that the Church is in an attacking position! Gates are not used for attacking, but for defending. The Bible says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church, which means that the Church will be anointed of God to tear down the gates of hell.

God divinely put in the Scriptures the story of a man called Samson in a harlot’s house. He awoke at midnight; he was touched and anointed by the Spirit of God, and transformed into a mighty wrecking machine. This terrible anointed wrecking machine took hold of the gate. Mighty men of valor were standing behind the walls with their swords ready to pierce him through.

You see, no man can stand against the anointing of God. There are many among us who are coming against the basic gospel of Jesus Christ. Some are coming against the Blood; some are coming against the baptism of the Holy Ghost; and others, against the speaking in tongues, etc. However, it is God they are really fighting against.

These men were ready to tear down the man Samson. Their covenant with the demons and devils that motivated them was destroyed by the anointing of the Lord upon Samson. They were sure they had Samson all cornered now, but God Almighty touched him and he became a mighty wrecking machine. Only the anointing of God could make an ordinary man be able to lay hold of and lift the gate of a city. It probably weighed a hundred tons. He shook the gate, and the walls were torn asunder; he rooted the gate out of the sockets as he backed off with it. The gates of Gaza could not stand against Samson, so the gates of hell will not stand against the church (God’s anointed people)! Jesus said, “Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).

Remember – it is by faith! “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord (God) of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). By faith, the anointing will break the powers of hell and set the people of God free.

Start at your doorstep. Start in your home. Start in your area. Spot a man, spot a woman, target someone for Jesus. Start praying for them and the forces of hell will let them loose, because you believe God and because you are one of the “lively stones (Peter).” Hell will not be able to stand before the Church when she moves, for Jesus said, “…and whatsoever you bind on earth is bound in heaven! And whatsoever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven!

What is Jesus talking about? Look at the Church. I am talking about all the people of God who have been washed by the Blood of Jesus. They do not have to belong to our group. They do not have to believe what we believe. They do not have to have the same sensibility towards God that we have, but just look at the Church on the whole, big and small, and tell me if you see a free people. Or, do you see a people who are bound?

The people of God are bound everywhere and God is rising up a people and giving them the power to lose them. Those who have received the Word of the Kingdom have become responsible. The church that has eyes to see, the church that has the Holy Spirit, the church that has the river of God flowing through them, the church that has the firstfruits of God – those who believe, those who speak of having the firstfruits of God, those who desire the fullness of Jesus Christ – you have now become responsible! Every single one of you, from the youngest to the oldest, has become responsible for the condition of the Church at large.

Scripture reading: Judges 15:9-17

Let us look at the following story today: Samson, after destroying the corn fields of the Philistines, went into a rock Etam, stayed there and the Philistines came to arrest him. I trust you understand that I am not talking about Samson. What am I talking about then? I am talking about the church hiding in the rock. And I am talking about the brethren of the church who give up the others. Some of us give up the others. Some of us are weak, afraid of the enemy. The Israelites went up, arrested Samson and delivered him to the Philistines; the church delivering up church.

So the Israelites bound Samson with new cords, took him down and delivered him over to the Philistines so that the Philistines would not hurt them. The church system is about ready to deliver those who are different from them, who won’t conform to their ways. Deliver them up to the world to be destroyed.

Samson went down bound before the Philistines. The Philistines began to celebrate their victory and God said, “They shouted against Samson and against God.” I want you to understand that a shout symbolizes a certain going forth of energy in whatever you are doing. They were praising their god for giving them Samson. Now remember that I am not talking about Samson. They shouted against him and the Bible recorded that when they shouted, God came upon him. In other words, Samson needed a move of God to move. God is saying that we need the move and when we feel the move, we must move. When this move hit Samson, the Bible said that the ropes were burned as if by fire. The fire of the Holy Ghost is going to lose your bands and set you free. And when your bands are loosed, you must know what to do; you must do the right thing. The first thing Samson did was to look around for a weapon, something to fight with. There was an old dead jackass. His bones were bleached white, bleached dry bones, and there was his jawbone.

Let us look at the spiritual meanings of all this: Samson means the body of Christ; the rope is the bondage that they have put upon us; His brethren are the other Christians who don’t like us. So what is the jawbone of an ass?

Your Bible is a beautiful, marvelous book. There is no book like it in the world. When you read your Bible, you know it could not be written by a man. Moreover, there were several men that God used to write it and there was no way those men could have gotten together to discuss it, because they lived in different ages of time. Go in your Bible and read about the jackass. The first reference I can think of is in the law – the firstfruits belong to God. You must take the firstfruits of your field and carry them to God. You must take the first animal you have from the doe, or she-ass, or anything else and it belongs to God. But God doesn’t want a jackass to be offered up as a sacrifice. So what do you do with the jackass? You redeem it with a lamb. If you don’t redeem the ass, then you must break its neck, because it belongs to the Lord.

When you take that right along, you will see that the ass is referring to you. We are the ass and God says that “out of the mouth of babes and suckling He hath ordained strength” (Psalm 8:2). In the end time, God shows a picture of a sharp two-edged sword coming out of the mouth of the church and destroying his enemy. In Revelation 11 we see the two witnesses and the fire, the word of their mouth, was coming out to destroy their enemies. So you want to know now what the jawbone of a jackass is? God is talking about our mouth! Oh, yes! Samson said, “With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.” (Jg 15:16) The ass is redeemed. The ass was bleached dry bone, but it was redeemed by Samson picking it up in the name of the Lord. And he slew 1,000 men with the jawbone of an ass.

So we see God doing something in our time. Samson couldn’t do anything unless the Lord came down on him. God had to give him a special anointing for every job he was going to do. Brethren, it is the same with you. If you think that you can get up and run out there and do your own thing, you are making a sad mistake. We must have that special anointing of God to do what we need to do, but we have to understand that He has certain rules by which the anointing is given and we must go by these rules.

Scripture reading: Judges 16:22-30

I hear God Almighty speaking to us about our eyes. You see, when the Philistines caught Samson after he gave out his secret to Delilah, they slapped a hot sword across his eyes and singed out his eyes. They put him as an animal to grind corn. As he was grinding, he said, “Oh, God.” Now he could see. Do you remember the poem The Blind Plowman? “He took mine eyes that I might see.” Samson said, “O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.” Amen. Then, when the boy led him into the arena, they were laughing at him, “Look at the man, the mighty giant that used to kill us.” They didn’t know that the man’s hair was growing back. They didn’t know that repentance brings back your hair. What did God do that for? He did it to bring the man to repentance.

Oh, God loves us so much. We should be ashamed of ourselves and I will tell you why. We don’t love our children as much as God loves us. We love the nice pretty ones that do well more than we love those that don’t do well. We are disgusted with some of them because they don’t do well and they do us bad and evil. God loves the bad ones just as much as He loves the good ones. His entire plan is to bring you out of the darkness into the light and so He will do all kinds of things to you. Yes. He will sting you, He will bite you, He will cut you, He will bounce you to bring you unto Himself. Then, what a glorious morning when He hugs you and says, “I’ve got you!” Hallelujah. That is the love of God that is greater far than tongue or pen could ever tell. Oh, what a God we serve, far beyond our conscious understanding!

We can’t understand God. How could He love a wretched person like me? I look at my own life. Why am I here? It is only because of God; nothing else but God’s mercy. And He wants me to do something; He brings me here because He knows I will do that which He wants me to do. Amen.

You know the stubborn child that you have, the “bad one”? Sometimes if that quality is turned to God, that quality will be glorious in the sight of God. God sees some of us rebellious but the rebellion is the good nature that God put in you to be able to stand and withstand in a battle. The devil takes a hold of that good nature and turns it into rebellion. So, we see the rebellious one and oh, we are against the rebellious one. But, how beautiful he is when he turns to God. Hallelujah!

So, Samson began to find God and he said, “…O God,… for my two eyes,” and then he pulled down the temple of Dagon. Oh, my goodness, what a beautiful thought! Samson called unto the LORD, and said, “O Lord GOD, remember me…” (Judges 16:28). My God, what a prayer! Think of your heart saying, “Oh, God, remember me. Jesus Christ, have mercy upon me, I pray thee. Strengthen me, I pray Thee, only this once, oh God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.”
