Scripture reading: Hebrews 11:1

Today, I want to talk to you a little bit about faith, what it really is and how to walk in it, because sometimes you know a thing but you don’t know how to do it. That is a real problem. We will look at Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is the substance of things that we hope for and when you have the substance, you have the evidence. In other words, when you go to court, the first thing they ask you is, “Where are your evidences?” You have to have different people come and say, “I saw so-and-so,” and then the judge believes it. But God is saying that faith is not only a substance, but it is also evidence.

Now, let us consider what kind of a substance this is. Let me give you an example: if you want to make a podium here, you have to go and get wood. After you get the wood and get it all cut into the right place, you have to get a cover for it, maybe something laminated. You had to get the substance for this particular thing. But when you have the substance, you don’t have the podium as yet, do you? But you have to use the substance to produce the podium with some labor. It does not take just one BAM and the whole thing comes at one time, but you have to walk it out. You have to get the nails, the fasteners, whatever it is, and you have to walk it out.

One day in the service, many, many years ago, before some of you were born, the Lord spoke and said, “Faith is an unseen light that shines more and more every step of the way you venture to take!” Now, that’s not in the Bible but the Lord said it. Faith is an unseen light. If you can see it, it’s not faith. If you make a plan to get so much and to do so much, it is not faith. It is a plan. But God is talking about raw faith.

God said that faith is the substance. Brethren, I am going to ask you a very serious question. Do you walk by faith? Come, let’s get back to this morning. You got up, you had so and so to do, so and so to look after breakfast, clean house, do this, do that. Do you really walk by faith? God is challenging you. Walk by faith! Do you know what it is to walk? Let me show you how people walk; maybe you forgot. You go right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot; that is how you walk. But what if I jump forward? Did I walk? No, I jumped! Some of you believe that, because you have faith, you must jump from one place to another. God says, “Walk by faith.” Do you understand what that means? It means that you must make little steps, step by step, step by step, step by step. You are not going to be all good the same day, but you must walk by faith.

Scripture reading: Exodus 19:6, 2 Peter 2:9

Do you know that when you lay hands on a person that you are actually putting your life on the line for that person? Did you know that is what it means? Did you know that God made the people of Israel lay their hands on the priest and confess their sins over him, and their sins left them and went into the priest? Amen. You know, I have seen it happen. We had situations where brothers laid their hands on people but they didn’t have the spiritual virtue or energy to counteract the thing that was in that person and it came back upon them.

One day, we were called up into a mountain top to go pray for a woman who was possessed with some devil. We all left to go but this young man took a short-cut through the bushes and got up there first. What he wanted to have was the glory of being the person who delivered the woman. If you have those kinds of things in you, keep away from demons. They will kill you because they can spot a wrong thought anywhere. The boy ran up there. He laid his hands on the woman. When we got there, his hand was crippled, withered; and we never got him better. He started having epileptic seizures and had them until he died. We could not bring deliverance to him.

You have to beware of how you lay hands. Do you remember in Hebrews 6:1, Paul speaks of the “laying on of hands” as part of our foundation doctrine? You need to have that foundation doctrine well secured in your foundation. Because in the laying on of hands, you are actually accepting unto yourself the problem that the person has.

There was a woman in the Bible that had the issue of blood. You can imagine that it was some sin that gave her that issue. Now-a-days we might say it was some sort of venereal disease. She grabbed the hem of Jesus’ garment and Jesus said, “I felt virtue come out of Me” (Mark 5:25-33). Do you realize that when you lay hands on a person, you are giving out virtue? YES! He said, “I felt virtue come out of Me.” His disciples said, “But everybody is touching You and rubbing up against You.” Jesus responded, “No, no. Something else: there was a deliberate action that pulled the virtue out of Me.” Do you know what action it was? Faith. The woman believed it! I am telling you – you do not know how strong faith is!

FAITH! By FAITH then, we are going to fit the bill of God – not because we are righteous, not because we are pretty, not because we are good, not because we are better than anybody else – BUT BECAUSE WE BELIEVE WHAT GOD SAYS. He will make you a royal priesthood.

Now, God created the priesthood to be a mediator between God and man. Do you know that is what a priest is? When Jesus Christ came, Jesus became the mediator between God and us. So, the priesthood was abolished. But then, He said He had a new priesthood after the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:11). Who is this Melchizedek?

Abraham went to battle and he overcame the five kings of Sodom and Gomorrah. When he was coming back, there came a man to him. Abraham said, “Who are you?” The man said that He was the king of Salem (Genesis 14:18-20) and Abraham recognized that it was God and gave Him a tenth of all, his tithes. You know, I always wondered what God did with it. Maybe He just put it up into smoke or something. But Abraham gave it to this King of Salem; and Salem is Jerusalem. Yes! City of peace! So this situation brings us into something new – a new order of priesthood has been created.

Thought for today: By faith we are going to fit the bill of God – because we believe what God says. He will make us a royal priesthood.

Scripture reading: Matthew 4:4

In every age of humanity at least one man found immortality. We have already talked about Moses in our previous post so today let us go way back to the age of innocence. Enoch. There was a way, there was an opening, there was a door in that dispensation of time that men could have used to walk into God. Adam used to walk with God in the garden (Genesis 3:8), but when he sinned, God set an angel with a sword that turns four ways at the entrance so that no man can re-enter into the garden (Genesis 3:24). We have to think of it as a spiritual realm. There was a spiritual realm that had a barrier that no man could enter, and that realm is in your soul. You cannot go back there except in Christ.

Adam had been teaching the sons of God; he had been teaching them all. The seventh man from Adam saw something in what Adam was saying that was beyond Adam, and he was going to exercise that thing. Do you know what it was? Faith! There was an opening by faith – that God would count you worthy of faith. If you died, you would go to hell because you had sin, but if you had faith in God to believe that you wouldn’t die, you could escape death. That was the only way Enoch could escape, to get out of it without dying. Enoch never died. Enoch believed God and he got God into a corner. “You promise that if I believe You, I will never die.” The power (I am talking about energy), the power and the love of God were in Enoch. He exercised his right before God so that God had to say, “Come up,” and “Take him up.”

Did you know that Enoch lived 365 years? Three hundred sixty-five and ¼ days make a solar year. I believe Enoch even had the quarter in it and that is when he left. His wife said, “Enoch walked with God and Enoch is no more for God took him away” (Genesis 5:24). So Enoch got into heaven without dying. I don’t know what he did with his clothes. I know Elijah dropped off his. But Enoch is in heaven as a physical man, flesh and bone. Maybe the blood is gone, but the bone is there and Enoch is with God. By the power of the love of God that was in him, he was able to cheat death. So was Elijah; and we do believe the Bible confirms that many more went that way. Probably millions and millions and millions of people are in heaven with their natural bodies, like your natural body.

You see, the natural body you have can feed on two different types of energy. The energy we are getting from the earth is very low; it is low energy. That is the reason we have to eat three times a day. Although you might have eaten twice by the time of the evening, I am sure before you go to bed, you are going to nibble something again. Why are you doing that? Because you lack energy. You want more. You are getting your energy from the earth, but Jesus said, “I have food that no man knows of.” He said that “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

It so happened in Elijah’s time that God made a bread, a cake for Elijah. I notice He said, “cake,” not bread. That means to say that He must have put something sweet in it. The man, Elijah, ate the cake and after he ate it, he went to sleep. Then the angel woke him up and said, “Come, eat again.” He ate again and the food he ate that day lasted him 40 days (I Kings 19:8). He wasn’t hungry for 40 days! (I would like to find that food.) We are talking about life. God is light. God is life. God is energy. God is power. All that says that God is love; and that is what love means. Elijah ate this love or this life and it lasted him 40 days. He wasn’t hungry for 40 days.

I just want to show you what we are looking at. We are trying to look at the thing on a higher level. The love of God in you will deliver you from everything that is natural and carnal and physical. The love of God IN you. If you hate, you are going to get trouble. Do you know that to worry is part of hate? Have you ever heard that some people get cancer because of worry, because or stress? If you, by the power of God, overcome stress, you will save your life. “If” is such a powerful word. You have two ways to go. You can go one way and get trouble, distress, worry, pain and suffering. Or, you can go the other way and get life. The same trouble will be there but it won’t affect you.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, July 2005, pg. 41-42)

Thought for today: The love of God in you will deliver you from everything that is natural and carnal and physical.

Scripture reading: Job 19:25-27

We cannot speak about resurrection unless we touch the greatest passage on resurrection in our whole Bible, Job 19. Here is a man lying three years on the floor in ashes, trying to ease the pain of boils and blisters that are all over his body. He was suffering and he looked at the worms who were busily taking away his flesh. His flesh was just melting under the trial of this sickness and this suffering. He said in verses 25-27, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.”

This is just ABSOLUTE FAITH. Think of a man under such pressure and destruction of death! His flesh was melting away right before his eyes, and he said that HE WOULD “SEE GOD” in that same flesh. Not other eyes, not new eyes, BUT THE SAME EYES would behold His God in the latter day. He believed in the eminent appearance of Jesus Christ so he could say that with great conviction.

We can also have that same conviction. 1 John 3:2, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

(Excerpt from The Book of Revelation, Volume 3, page 104)

Thought for today: To have Absolute Faith as our brother Job had under such pressure and destruction of death!

Scripture reading: Revelation 12:10-11

The reason we know that Satan’s head was bruised at Calvary is that the Blood of Jesus Christ WAS AND IS the key to the destruction of Satan. Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” You ask, how did Christ’s Blood overcome Satan? In Exodus 12, God told the Israelites to kill the lamb and put the blood on “the lintel and the two side posts” (over the post top and on the sides of the posts). When the evil spirits came, they could not enter the houses that had blood on the top and on the sides of their doors.

The reason is that the blood was put there BY FAITH. It was only the blood of an animal but with the faith in Christ that He would come and deliver them. The blood of the animal shone with the power of God from the door posts and the lintel so that it struck the evil angels which God sent into Egypt. It struck them and they had to flee from every house that had this blood and could only enter into the houses that were not protected by the blood.

The Blood of Jesus Christ becomes a weapon of warfare for the children of God. CALL UPON THE BLOOD, BRETHREN. Any time you are in trouble, call to God to send the Blood of Jesus Christ to stand up for you. You will see the power of God come to you, because the Blood is right here, right over us, hovering over us, waiting for us to utilize it for our defense. The Blood of Jesus Christ then became the weapon to the church that finally will destroy Satan and deliver the earth out of his hand. Praise be to God!

(Excerpt from The Book of Revelation, Volume 2, pages 53-54)
