Is God Walking in You Today?

Scripture reading: II Corinthians 6:16

Have you ever thought why God had Moses build a Tabernacle and Solomon a Temple? Could the natural structures have a spiritual meaning? Once we understand God’s word it will bring life to our souls. Let us look into the word so that we can comprehend what God is saying.

Every builder who contrives to construct an edifice first makes a plan to suit the requirements of that which suits the purpose for which he builds. God, the greatest master builder of all, made three distinct plans or patterns of that which He builds in earth.

  1. Moses’ Tabernacle in the Wilderness:  The First Temple – Exodus 25:1-9
  2. Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem:  The Second Temple – I Chronicles 22:9-11 3
  3. Jesus Christ the Man:  The Beginning of the Third Temple – Matthew 24:2

There were some marked differences between Solomon’s Temple and the Tabernacle of Moses in the type of materials used in construction. Skins of animals, which represent the will of flesh, and wood, which represents humanity, though covered with gold (divinity) were used in Moses’ tabernacle. In Solomon’s temple, stones were used for the walls, which, unlike skins, were not produced by the will of the flesh, but by process of God’s own operation. The individual stones were inlaid with golden mortar poured into a pattern of holes drilled into them (more like our cement blocks) and plastered on the outside with pure gold, thus covering the nakedness of their presence in the temple by His own divinity, and at the same time filling them inside also with divine life. God’s promise to man is that He would walk in them and talk in them.

II Corinthians 6:16, “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people.”

The work was no more to be just an outward covering up of the nature of man under the nature of God, but even as the GOLDEN MORTAR permeated the inside of the stones, so the Living God would work on the inside of man.

All brass objects, which symbolize judgment and justice against sin, were peculiar to the Outer Court, for the Outer Court is the place where God deals with sin.

Let us first look at the Tabernacle of Moses. God gave Moses a detailed plan of a tent he should build, which was portable, to go along with the Israelites as they journeyed from Egypt to Canaan. At once we see Egypt as the type of bondage, sin, and our old carnal Adamic nature, and Canaan as the type of the great promise of salvation and a life free from sin.

The outer fence was made of posts of wood covered with brass and set in sockets of brass. This signifies that humanity will be used of God as part of the means of shutting man into God. The fact that the posts were covered with brass and socketed in brass signifies that there is a compulsion in their position and ministry and that there is no latitude for vacillation or change. The whole fence was covered with linen cloth, with hooks and joinings of silver. Linen speaks of righteousness and silver of redemption, that is, their righteousness is held in place by the redemptive power of Christ. Another fact that is pertinent is that they were placed five cubits apart, which means that God Himself would place them in the Body and it would be a ministry. This fence was 100 cubits long and 50 cubits wide, thus making the perimeter 300 cubits, which was the number of Gideon’s overcomer company. This plan or pattern contains in symbolic language every iota of God’s word, from the Holy Spirit working in the life of the sinner outside of the tent, to bring him in through the gate, to the believer being installed into the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies with all the attributes of the risen Christ manifested in him.

This pattern therefore contains the very essence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His love. This revelation has now come to the Church so that all of God’s people might participate and be made ready for that mountaintop experience into which we shall soon enter through tribulation or fire.

Thought for today: Let us sanctify our temple so that we might be a fit habitation for the Almighty God. The choice is ours; let us make the right decision this day and allow God the freedom to walk in us and through us.

Overcoming the Mind of Man

Scripture reading: Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 119:11 & 105

The mind of man is like the head of a person. The Bible tells us that if your mind is stayed on God, then you will have perfect peace. If you have any kind of problem in your life that attacks you from the body and you have tried many ways to control it and you cannot, the reason is that you are NOT using the right tool, THE WORD OF GOD. Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Verse 105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

There is only one way of sustaining yourself in God and that is by saturating your mind with the Word of God. If you can keep your mind stayed on God, then you have the victory won. It is difficult. The mind cannot keep the mind. Unless we apply the science of God as God showed it to us in the Word, we are in trouble. You kneel down to pray and one thousand things bombard you. You say that you are going to pray through and you find yourself thinking about something else. You say that you must try again. You start to pray and again something else happens. The mind has to be strengthened by the SPIRIT OF GOD HIMSELF.

Sometimes it is almost impossible for you to get the Word of God into your mind. I remember when I was in that condition as a young man. I asked God, “What can I do to keep my mind stayed on You?” I was an avid reader and was always interested in a good story. God said to me, “Read all the stories in the Bible and meditate on them.” So I did. I would ask, “What was the meaning of this? Why was this story put into the Bible? Why did this happen?” The moment you begin to search the Word of God in your heart and mind, the Spirit of God WILL COME to your aid and instruct you and have fellowship with you. When the day is done, you will find that you have been meditating on the things of God. THIS IS A GOOD SPIRITUAL HABIT. When you get into the habit of meditating on the Word of God, you will find that you will begin to associate everything you see with the Word.

Years ago I worked in an office with many men. Some of them would tell dirty jokes in my hearing and watch my reaction. One of them told a joke about a man who streaked (ran naked) across a stage. I seized the opportunity to interject immediately Isaiah 20:2 where God told the prophet Isaiah to go naked in the streets of Israel to get their attention, to reveal to them their SPIRITUAL NAKEDNESS. The man who told the joke was hit so hard by my opportunistic preaching that he said, “You probably know every scripture in the Bible.” From that time on they kept all their jokes out of my hearing. It was a blessing to me.

Begin to associate everything you see and hear with Scriptural references for most of what is happening now has already happened in your Bible.

The Four Basic Beast Natures of Man

Scripture reading: Ezekiel 1: 4-12

THE SOUL OF MAN HAS FOUR BASIC BEAST NATURES. The mind is symbolized by the eagle, always flying, restless. The emotions are symbolized by the lion, terrible. The will is symbolized by the ox, stubborn. The face of the man is a symbol of the desires, human. Man is a creature of desire. A change must come forth in man’s soul.

JESUS CAME AND DIED TO SAVE MAN’S SOUL. Jesus did not die to save your spirit. Your spirit goes back to God in any event. Your spirit did not need to be saved. You were born in sin and your soul was in iniquity. IT IS THE SOUL AREA THAT NEEDS TO BE SAVED. See Hebrews 10:39.

The nature of the mind is joined to the nature of the emotions. The nature of the emotions is joined to the nature of the will. The nature of the will is joined to the desires. Whatever part of this nature is affected by any circumstance or outside influence then it will affect the other natures. A man gets upset in his emotions and it changes his thinking. He thinks differently. His thinking becomes intoxicated by the madness of his emotions. His will is then changed. Instead of having a will to do probably the right thing, he sometimes finds himself willing to do the wrong thing.

The mind, or the eagle, had a face of the man on one side (desires), the face of the ox on the other side (will), and the face of the lion on the other side (emotions). The mind then has a will of its own, desires of its own, and emotions of its own. There could be an emotional charge coming from the mind. The way you think about things could affect your emotions. This emotional charge comes from the mind and strikes the emotions and the emotions, being stronger, pick it up and affect the will and the whole being of the man. Thus God gave us a spirit, without which we would be just like the brute beast. The spirit, therefore, affects the whole process, to bring some temperance and some moderation to it. If they (the mind, the will, the desires, the emotions) will accept the pleading of the Spirit of God or the moving of the Spirit then this area will be changed to do God’s will. God comes through the spirit of man. “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly,” Proverbs 20:27.

The mind of man can be influenced by outside influences. Therefore, God plants the Holy Spirit into man’s spirit which has a stronger effect upon the soul nature of the man than any other outside spirit. After a man is saved and brought back from the dead (he was a dead soul and became a living soul), he wants life. A living creature must have living food so he cries out to God and God sends the Holy Spirit into his spirit. HIS SPIRIT MEETS OUR SPIRIT and testifies that we are the children of God. We BECOME THE SONS of God WHEN WE OBEY the Spirit of God (see Romans 8:14). The Holy Spirit, therefore, begins to charge the human spirit which becomes bright, and sends this radiation of power into the natures of the soul.

This soul area is a most complicated area because it has the bombardment of the world, the flesh, and the devil. There is a certain amount of bombardment of influence that comes through a man’s physical, carnal feelings. This is why Satan said in talking to God about Job, in Job 2:4 and 5, “Skin for skin…and he will curse thee to thy face.” In other words, Satan thought if God would let him work Job over (touch his skin, his flesh), then Job would curse God. GOD knew better. God had a relationship with the man. Job was not baptized with the Holy Ghost, but God knew Job had a character like a stone wall. Job was going to hold on. God said to Satan, “Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.” Job was hit by the devil. His children were killed, his cattle were stolen away, his sheep burnt up, his wife turned against him, and he was covered with sores. For three years the man lay on his side in sores and God watched him. Job was down and God withdrew from him that the man might stand alone. JOB STOOD AGAINST SATAN, BEAT HIM AT HIS GAME, and won a victory for all times for humanity IN THE NAME OF GOD, without much help or much strength.

The soul, therefore, is bombarded from the body – from the mind, from the will, from the emotions, and from the desires. God plants life in the soul to overcome death. John 1:5, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” The translation of the verb “comprehended” is a little bit weak. It could say “the darkness could not overcome, or overthrow, or have the victory over light.” Light shines in the darkness and the darkness flees. The soul has these four areas from which it is bombarded, but the chief area is the mind. If the mind is won for Christ, then it will radiate power and actually stop the bombardment from the other areas.

We Are Divinely Covered

Scripture reading: Psalm 91

Psalm 91:1-2, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High (between the cherubim on the Mercy Seat) shall abide (remain stable and fixed) under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I (confidently) trust!”

Verse 4, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings (symbolic for power) shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler (weapons of defense).”

Verse 11, “For he shall give his angels (special) charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

As the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses in Egypt to the promised Canaan land, God provided every form of care and deliverance possible so that they might survive what would be an impossible journey for women and children, old men and cattle, in a parched and dry wilderness void of sustenance for a few people, let alone hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions.

There are scriptures which give us an idea of the vastness of the miracle of provision which brought them out and carried them in, for example Exodus 19:4, “Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.” The symbolic term “eagles’ wings” means wings of power. This is borne out by the circumstances which prevailed in the wilderness.

When we look at Exodus 13:21, Nehemiah 9:21, Exodus 16:4, and Exodus 17:6 we can see that the children of Israel were provided shelter from the blazing sun and high protein food to keep them strong and vigorous. Shoes and clothing were provided by God supernaturally and there was never any people mothered and cared for by a loving God ever in the history of humanity to that time.

God is a provider. There is provision in Him to cover all our weaknesses and to heal all our diseases.

Some who read these lines may be in grave physical danger as war and revolution sweep the earth; but remember, David faced danger every day of his life and the Holy Spirit spoke through him more than any recorded writer of the deliverance of God from the enemy.

Psalm 23:1-5, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want: 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.”

This and more represents the response of overshadowing which God gives to the church as she moves in the Spirit. The embroidery covering (shown in the Tabernacle of Moses in Exodus 26) is symbolic of all this.

Thought for today: The Almighty God, Creator of the entire Universe, the God that made you and I is telling us that He is here. God’s Word says He will never leave us or forsake us. Our choice is not to forsake God! Let the Great Provider lead your footsteps today and rest in His peace that passeth all understanding.
