Scripture reading: Psalm 119:11

I want to talk to you today about one part of your soul – the mind. The mind is a vast area before God. Our perception is that we have this little thing that we call the mind, but the mind is not a small thing. In the Spirit, it is a very vast area and this area has deserts in it, barren areas, places where wild beasts dwell. But God wants you to clean up your mind. Do you know why? It is because this is where Jesus Christ is going to be reigning. He wants you to have the mind of Christ.

If you continue to think about your natural business, and do everything natural, you will find that it will prevent you from receiving the fullness of Christ. Christ is preparing us now for His coming. Jesus Christ is coming into the soul first before He comes in the world. How can we be prepared? We have to get guards by the doors of our soul, preventing the old time things from coming in, but allowing the light of God to be coming in, and pushing out the darkness that was in there.

DO NOT CONDONE DARKNESS! If you know that you are a thief, then when you go down to pray, say, “God, I am a thief, and I hate being a thief! I do not want to be a thief, Lord God. Deliver me from stealing.” Do you know what might happen to you the next day? The police may come for you. You ask God to deliver you and He is going to deal with you exactly as you need to be dealt with. Or, maybe the police will not come for you, but He is going to deal with you exactly with the fire that is going to burn the thing out of you. God is going to deal with you with that fire. Do you understand me, brethren?

So, the mind is the most important part of your soul. What you think is what you are. Oh, yes! Whatever you think, that is what you are. We are going to have to begin to understand that God wants this part of our soul to be cleansed before He can come in.

Watch your thinking. Have you ever done it? Take a note of the things that you think about from morning to night, and check up on what causes you to think that way. Now, if the devil can cause you to think certain things contrary to God, then the devil controls you in that area.

The thing I am saying to you is that the mind is the most important part of your soul. The way you think, the things you allow to be bombarding your thoughts—those are the things that are controlling your whole life. You have to begin to think the Word of God. The psalmist says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11).

I am saying to you, “Get yourself a Walkman tape player and put on the Word of God.” Put it around your ears while you are working in the house. Let the Word of God be in your ears. You might miss the telephone call, but let the Word of God be in your ears. It will keep you from missing God.

Scripture reading: Hebrews 11:1-6

Faith! You must have faith, but your faith must be in something. In other words, faith is a subsidiary weapon that cannot work by itself. Let me say it again: Faith cannot work by itself! You cannot have wild faith like the “Name It and Claim It” type. That is a wild faith and it does not have substance in anything. So, therefore, you have faith in a word. I am going to give you an example.

God anointed David to be king from when he was a young boy. He told David, “You will be king over Israel.” Now David knows that if God said he would be king then God could not allow him to be killed. So later, young David faced Goliath with impunity knowing that his God will bring Goliath down. He knew this, because God had told him he was supposed to be king down the road.

Have you ever gotten a prophecy? Do you remember in your mind what the prophecy said? Do you know that the devil cannot kill you, because God gave you a prophecy that down the road you are going to be somebody? Now, God does not say you can be presumptuous, go throw yourself over a precipice and say, “Well, God said I am going to be king (or queen), so therefore let me throw myself over this precipice, because God will keep me up.” Presumptuous sin is against God.

So therefore, you have a word from God. If you do not have a word from God, go to God and get yourself a word. Did you hear me? Let every man of God, woman of God, child of God get a word from God that is absolutely, completely yours; and hold that word because there is a song that says, “When the storms of life are raging and you are tossed o’er sea and land, you will find a place of refuge in the hollow of His hand.”

If you will take refuge under that word that God has given you, it will be “a lamp to your feet, and a light to your path” (Ref. Psalm 119:105). It also says in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”  Glory to God!

If God gives you a word, the word becomes a fortress and a weapon and something to hold on to. And so, you must have faith in something. You must have faith in a word of God and anybody who does not have a word, get one!

I will give you a word. When I was freshly saved, I did not know what salvation was and I did not know who God was. When God came into my room, He gave me a word and He has given me the same word seven times. He said, “As I was with Moses, so will I be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.” He also said, “No man shall stand before you all the days of your life. Anywhere the soles of your feet tread upon that will I give to you.” That is what He spoke to Joshua, but Jesus came to my room and He said it to me seven times. There is no way or possibility of anybody ever discouraging me—any demon, any devil, any man! Do you hear me? The word of God has become a fortress and a monument in my soul.

Because of the word, the soul of man becomes a bulwark of God! Do you hear me? Your soul becomes a bulwark for God! A walking, talking, conquering soul; not able to be defeated, because you have a word of God.

So then, the faith of God must work with the word of God. If God gives you a word, then you have faith. If God gives you no word, then you have no faith. You cannot have faith without having some foundation to your faith.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, January 1997, pg. 18-20)

Thought for today: Stand in faith on the word God has spoken to you. If you have not a word or prophecy from Him, then go to God and let Him give you a personal word so that you can have foundation to your faith.

Scripture reading: Psalm 119:11

Let us continue talking about the virgins today. God is looking at your lamp as we mentioned yesterday. Five of the virgins were wise and five of them were foolish (Matthew 25:3). They that were foolish took their lamps, but took no oil with them. Now, you have the lamp and you have the vessel. The lamp has oil, and oh boy, when you get saved, the lamp is burning bright. But as time goes on, that lamp is going to need more oil. So now, if the lamp is your spirit, God wants you to have a vessel that has oil also. Remember, the oil that brightens your lamp is the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God in you, the thing that quickens your spirit and makes you bright. If you have no oil in your vessel, what does that mean? We are vessels of righteousness. Do you know why we are vessels? The scripture says that ye are the temple of the living God, and that God dwells in you (1 Corinthians 3:17). So we are vessels of God. We are vessels that contain God. If we are vessels that contain God and the vessel is empty, it means we do not have God in the right place! I wonder if you understand. In other words, the devil knows this. He knows that if he gets you angry, you will be out of the Spirit; there is no oil burning there. While the flame of the body is burning, the flame of the soul is low. So the devil will tempt you to get mad. The devil will tempt you to get upset, disturbed! You cannot serve God while you are disturbed, while you are upset!  Do you follow what I am saying?

So God says that if your vessel doesn’t have the oil in it, then at midnight… Now, let me tell you about the word “midnight.” The word midnight has quite a few meanings. One of the things is that your midnight might not be mine, in one sense, right? When you are having trouble, when you are under distress, when darkness comes down upon you – that is your midnight. That is the time you need oil in your vessel, because oil has to be in the right place. Now, where is the vessel? My mind is the vessel. Brethren, for God’s sake, don’t believe, please, that you can spend six days out of the seven with your mind involved with worldly things, not a thought for God, and that at the moment of trouble your mind is going to shift into high gear for God. No sir! Your mind will only shift in high gear for God if you have been meditating on the Word of God. “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). The Word of God, hidden in the heart; there is a magic potion in the Word of God. I don’t know if I am using the right words, but the Word of God has something in it, that by itself there is energy and a power that works. Amen! When you are in trouble, you don’t have to think, “Let me think, which word should I use?” I know people who get in trouble and say, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name” (very fast, like a chant). Too late! The spontaneous response to the devil must come from your spirit, from your soul, and it must blast the devil. That is the only time the devil sees light. But if you have to start thinking hard what scripture to quote when the devil is before you, you are in trouble. It says, “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11). The Word of God must be hidden in your heart and it must come forth spontaneously with a power that delivers you when you are under pressure. Jesus says, “My sheep will hear my voice.” And He says, “I know them. And they will follow me” (John 10:4, 14). Did you hear that? God is confident that you will follow His voice when you are in trouble, if your mind is stayed on Him!

You know, all of us have our jobs to do. I remember at one time on my job I got to the place where I could be working and doing the job all day, and not be there at all. I was in the Spirit just talking to God, but doing the job. I never forgot the situation (there was a big joke in the department), when the auditor put up his report. There was a penny missing and nobody could find it. They gave me the books to audit. I was in the Spirit; I didn’t eat lunch because I was just praising God and auditing. Checking and auditing. Before the day was done, I found the penny. When you get in the Spirit, when you walk in the Spirit, you can do your work and it does not disturb your being in the Spirit. Yes. You can do your work, and it does not disturb your being in the Spirit. As a matter of fact, you do your work most efficiently when you are in the Spirit and you will discover things that you never thought of.

(Excerpt from Keeping in Touch, April 28, 2002)
