Obedience in the Outer Court

Scripture reading: Hebrews 5:12-14

Let me ask you a question today: Have you been baptized in water? You see, when you get the baptism in water and are determined in your heart to serve God unto death, and the Holy Ghost sees a heart that is wide open then He rushes in. When the Holy Ghost comes into your heart and into your life, there is a definite change. You undergo a change when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, and then when you go into the baptism you undergo another change, and then when you go into the Holy Ghost baptism you undergo yet another change. But you are still in the Outer Court. Baptism in the Holy Ghost does not automatically take you into the Holy Place. Baptism in the Holy Ghost is meant to take you into the Holy Place. Am I talking riddles? In other words, because you are baptized in the Holy Ghost and you blabber in tongues and so and so and so, you feel that you are all right. You are not all right, until you begin to walk in the Holy Ghost. Amen.

In my old age, I find something terrible; there are little things that you miss. My wife and I are sitting at the table, we are going to eat and so we start to pray; I close my eyes and bend down to pray and I see the rice falling to the floor like rain. Hear me now. This is foolishness, right? Old man having hallucinations. Well, if the old man was smart, he would have said, “Sister, don’t eat that rice.” Because I was seeing what God sees. What happens is that I have a message now to say to her, “That rice is going to hurt you.” It is as simple as that.

When God looked at Adam and said, “It is good,” even though He saw all the trouble that Adam would go through, He knew that He was looking at the end of the matter – He was looking at YOU!

I am not talking about one instance. It is every day, every step of the way. If you say, “Howdy do” to somebody, and you see something flash there, you need to learn to obey it and walk in it. The Holy Ghost life is an entirely different life from the life of a natural person. Slight little things and thoughts flash to you in the spirit and you need to work on it, and the moment you move on it you have a victory. But instead you say, “Oh, it is my mind,” and the devil robs you of the moment. You are not a fit man. Yes, if you call the Holy Ghost your mind, you are not fit, because we need to be sharp in the spirit. We need to be able to discern between good and evil (Hebrews 5:14). Yes, right and wrong, good and evil, little things, and I mean, that is simple. Remember now, He said this is A-B-C. He didn’t say this is big. You haven’t gone to college yet. You are still down there in elementary school.

The same mind that the kid takes to learn in elementary school is the same mind that is going to be up there in the college. If he becomes a scientist, it is the same mind and the same principles of thinking that he is subjected to that are going to lead him right up there. Hear me now. I am not talking to you about spiritual things yet. No, no, no, we are down there in the Outer Court. It is the obedience of the child of God in the Outer Court that makes you a son of God, that takes you through the door into the Holy Place. If we have not learned how to obey the Holy Ghost, then we are still in trouble, you can still lose your life and go to hell. What? What am I saying? I am saying that if you don’t learn how to walk in the Holy Ghost, you can still go to hell.

What Apostolic Teaching Are You Following?

Scripture reading:  Ephesians 4:11-13

God has put a picture in the Bible of the Body of Christ into the Tabernacle of Moses. Do you know that the Outer Court church is not the Body of Christ? Let me describe a picture to you of the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies as it is recorded in Exodus 26. The structure is made out of twenty boards. The boards on the corner of the end are double. There is one bar going right through the whole side. The bar is held by rings, golden rings. The boards are made of wood and gold. The gold covers the wood, so that the wood does not show at all. Wood means humanity and gold means divinity. So you see, it is God’s idea that our humanity should be covered by His divinity so that we would not have a human organization, but a divine organization. Human beings cannot organize a divine organization, so we have to be organized by God.

Let us read what God says about the five bars. All the bars are held by three golden rings through each board. It is the boards that hold the bars, and the bars keep the boards. These five bars represent five ministries. The long one is the apostles, and the shorter ones represent prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers. We are not talking about pastors, because the word pastor is Latin. In Latin, it means that you can keep cows, you can keep hogs, you can keep goats, or you can keep sheep. But in the Greek rendition of the word, you can only keep sheep as a shepherd. So, Jesus said, “I am the good Shepherd” (John 10:11).

Let us look at Ephesians 4:11-12, And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. It said the ministry is given for the perfecting of the saints. God is saying that He has set a ministry in the world to perfect the saints. Now, if you give the saints wrong doctrines and dogmas that are made by man, instead of perfecting them, it will kill them. So, it depends upon what apostolic teaching you are following – that is what decides whether you are in the Body of Christ or not.

Let us take some of the teachings that have turned away from God. What about communion? When you bless the bread, does it become meat? When you bless the wine, does it become the Blood of Jesus Christ? The answer is NO. So, if you have a doctrine that when a person takes the bread and the wine, it makes him holy, it is a false doctrine. Therefore, the true apostles of God must teach the truth to bring people away from these lying doctrines. Let us consider the doctrine of rapture. If you teach the people that they are going to be raptured from the world and taken away to another place, it is a false teaching. The people need to know that they are going to have to overcome here on earth and don’t feel that they are going to escape the tribulation while all the other people have to go through it. We saw the Chinese church destroyed because they believed they were going to fly away, and Jesus didn’t come and take them away out of their tribulation. The people of God must understand that God wants us to overcome. Therefore, the church must go through the tribulation. Also, the idea that only the ministry is hearing from God and that you only have to listen to what the ministries say, and not hear from God for yourself is indeed a wrong doctrine. There are many, many other doctrines that we would need to go into, but God promises us that He would bring the truth to us in the end time.

The Blood Work

Scripture reading: Acts 20:28

When you look at the Tabernacle of Moses, you will notice that the church begins at the Brazen Altar. Outside the Outer Court, there is no church. Any institution or organization which does not begin with the blood of the cross is not a church at all. Thus the REFORMATION of the church in general actually began with Martin Luther, who broke with Rome and again preached JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH (Romans 5:1), to a world which only knew penance, purgatory and Pope. This was only the first of the seven steps to perfection, but even in our time, some churches stop right here, at Luther, and refuse to budge. The fact of the altar being made of brass, shows that it is justice and not perfection. It suggests, also, the absolute necessity for a Christian to begin at the gate of the Tabernacle, and at the Brazen Altar, with no exceptions. “The wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23. The body of sin must die, because it is an alien nature to God. If we are taking on the nature of God, then the alien nature must go. The blood shed on this altar depicts the life of God. This life was sufficient to re-energize our realm. Death had entered into our realm, and had slain all our forefathers, and would continue to impose upon us that which we hated. What we needed was energy to fight our enemy. God is light, and LIGHT IS ENERGY, thus God found a way to reveal HIS ENERGY in our realm in the form of the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST: a ready source from which we can recharge our tired batteries. This is fantastic, but beyond all shadow of a doubt, TRUE. The life of God which was sent here in the veins of a man named JESUS was a PRISONER within His veins and within His body, and unless He gave this up, you and I would have no hope of deliverance. When He did give it up, the whole UNIVERSE was quickened, and Satan was cast down from his throne as prince of the power of the air (no longer in a position above us). MAN WAS ONCE AGAIN PLACED ON the throne OF GLORY, which is the HEARTS of the Sons of God (Throne of David). We find thus, that in this age, men obey God or the devil by free will choice, for NOW THEY HAVE A BETTER WAY than obeying the devil. This is the reason David could be a man after God’s own heart, and yet capable of such heinous sins.

The Place of Refuge

Scripture reading: Psalm 91:9-10

I always used to wonder, “How can Brother Wilkerson give such words about destruction of New York and yet remain there?” Have you ever noticed it? He would give a word that New York was going to be destroyed; he saw the destruction going into New Jersey and yet he was sitting down right there in the middle of it. Why didn’t he move? But he finally gave us the reason – he believed God would put the shadow of His protection over certain people.

I remember one time a brother came to a certain place and prophesied over that place that it was a place of refuge. It means that the shadow of the Almighty will cover His people at midnight, in the darkness. But you must believe it! You may be sitting beside someone who is in the Holy Place or Holy of Holies while you are in the Outer Court. God said to leave the Holy Place and run for the Holy of Holies! That is why we sing “flee to the mountain top.” You could be sitting down beside someone in the Holy Place but if you are in the Outer Court, you will be wiped out and the person left sitting there.

I never forgot what happened to us in Nairobi, Kenya. We were there when the terrorists put a bomb in that government building and blew the whole building out. Only skeleton of it was left. But guess what? There was a desk that was left in the center of the room; everything else was gone only one desk sitting down there. That night we went to church and here comes this sister. She had a little scratch on her forehead. She was praising God because she had been sitting at her desk when the bomb blast killed everybody else around her; she was left alive. Amen.

I am saying that God is mighty to save. God is able, glorious, but guess what? You have to be in the Holy Place, you have to be in the Holy of Holies, the place of refuge. Do you know why? The place of refuge is obedience to the Spirit. If the Spirit of God tells you to run and you say, “Oh, no, I’ll sit down, God will take care of me,” then you are a goner; you are in the Outer Court. Do you understand? So then, the people who are righteous are not righteous because they are better than the other people who are not righteous. They are righteous because they are obeying God and the other person is not obeying God.

Repair Your Vision

Scripture reading: John 9:1-7

One night the Lord came to me and began to teach me a lesson, which went through the whole night. He was talking about our ability to see, about our vision. He showed me that something is wrong with our vision. The Holy Spirit gives us vision and lets us see, but different things in our lives interrupt the sight and the vision so that we see half-way or wrong in some way. God is saying to us that we need to repair our vision.

The Lord began to show me certain things. When Jesus met the blind man, He spat on the ground, mixed it and put it on the blind man’s eyes. Very unusual. It was as if God used the way He had created Adam to recreate eyes in the man. You know we have a little song that we sing – Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. Somehow or the other, I can see God saying to us that some of us have such damage to our eyes that we are totally blind and need a new creation. We need to allow God to create new eyes in us. Hallelujah. Jesus said yet to another blind man, “Receive thy sight,” and he received his sight.

Then there was Samson who got himself involved with the harlot. He was so blind to the fact that she wanted to kill him and was kind of assisting her. It went on and on until she finally got him to tell her the secret that if his hair was cut he would lose his strength. Now, you would ask the question, “Why would he tell her that?” Let us look at the story. Samson had a problem with women and it disturbed his ability to see God. Judges 16:4, “And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.”

I want you to understand, your Bible is a very peculiar book. When you see that it mentions that the woman lived in a valley, immediately something should rise in you as you read your Bible. “He went to a woman in the valley of Sorek.” The moment you see that it said that it was in a valley, you know that the man was going down, stepping down from the standard of righteousness which God had given him, which God has created that man should live in. In other words, every man must have a certain amount of control over his own body.

Now, what made Samson always go after harlots? Did you notice it? This was not the first one. Every one he went after was a harlot. He had a problem. I am saying that this problem exists in the church, in the Body.

We know that the Outer Court will soon be trampled under foot. This means everything carnal, everything natural will be under judgment. Now, if I am a spiritual man but am carnal, I am under judgment. I might believe I am in the Holy Place because the Holy Spirit is in me. NO! The Holy Spirit can be in me and I am not in the Spirit. You can have the Holy Spirit and not be in the Holy Spirit.

The five foolish virgins had everything as far as equipment was concerned that the five wise had, and one little detail that was major. The detail is to have the God that is in the universe, the God that built the universe, the God that you have in your spirit, to have Him in your soul. This is the same God that speaks in tongues, that delivers His Word, and that manifests Himself to us as we sing.

The man Samson had a problem and the problem was one that would make a person be in the Outer Court, though your place is in the Holiest of All. God gives us the ability to be in the Holiest of All with Christ Jesus Himself and we choose to be in the Outer Court because of our carnal appetite! Brethren, do you know why God leaves your carnal appetite with you? God could take it away and kill it and just leave you happy and free. But He left your carnal appetite with you to give you an opportunity to kill it, to control it, to exercise the power of life over the power of death, the power of the love of God over the power of the love of the world. Do you hear me? He leaves you free to exercise the power that God has given you over the carnal realm. We know He said to Adam, “Take charge of the carnal realm. This is your duty, this is your power, and this is your privilege. You take charge of the carnal realm.” Did you hear the word that He used? Dominion! God didn’t say that we should have dominion one over another. You must not dominate another human being. God said to Adam, “Dominate nature! Dominate the world.” Glory to God. “Dominate the circumstances!”

Thought for today: God left your carnal appetite with you to give you an opportunity to kill it, to control it, to exercise the power of life over the power of death, the power of the love of God over the power of the love of the world.
