Do You Believe God?

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Hebrew 11:6

I trust you remember that “virgins” in the Bible mean “Christians.” The “foolish virgins” in Matthew 25 are those who half-believe and half-don’t believe. In other words, they believe, but with a doubt. If you believe God, then why don’t you just believe Him? If you believe that God is God, why don’t you serve Him? Serving God is not running up and down the streets, telling people about Jesus and handing out tracts. To some people, that is serving God. In reality, even though it is part of it, it is the least of it. The greater part of serving God is to ALLOW the power of God to come into you (into God’s temple) to where you are a sanctified temple! When you allow God in, then God can do what He wants to do. You do not have to go all around telling everybody about Jesus. You do not have to go “doing” something.

For example, you went to minister the gospel in China. The day is going to come when we will walk through China, saying nothing at all. Not a word! Yet, breaking down the power of hell! Amen! Because the POWER of God will be coming through you! Hallelujah!

You have read of Charles Finney and men like him. I am not talking about those who you know, but I am talking about what you have heard about. Charles Finney went to a factory. As he walked through it, people fell from their seats and accepted Jesus without him saying a word.

Some people may say, “Well, we hear Brother duCille talk about God, but we have not known Him for ourselves.” But then, if you believe God, He will manifest Himself to you also.

Thought for today: Are you one of those who half-believe and half-don’t? Remember: if you believe God, He will manifest Himself to you!

This message by Brother Cecil duCille entitled “The Sealing of the Saints” is part 4 of a 4 part series and was given at a conference in Jamaica, December 2007.

The Sleeping Church

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Matthew 25:1-6

I want to talk to you today about “The Sleeping Church.” Turn your Bibles with me to Matthew and we are going to read from Matthew 25, beginning with Verse 1, “Then shall the kingdom of heaven (the church) be likened unto ten virgins which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.”

It is interesting: you talk to the people—everybody—and they all say, “We are waiting! Jesus will soon come! We are waiting for Jesus!” All the denominations are waiting for Jesus! But it is going to be “…weeping and gnashing of teeth!” (See Matthew 8:12, 24:51, 25:30).

It goes on in Verse 2, “And five of them were wise and five were foolish.” Spiritually, it is not saying that half of them were wise and half of them were foolish. If half of the church was wise and half was foolish, it would be a wonderful thing. But it is not even ten percent of the church that is wise. There is not even ten percent! So, therefore, we are dealing with all foolish people. Foolish ministries! Foolish congregations!

Let me explain to you what “foolish” means, because sometimes you have to say what the meaning of “is” is. The Bible says in Psalm 14:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” It says that the fool has said in his heart that there is no God. But here am I (saved, sanctified, baptized in the Holy Spirit) and still I will hide and do sin. I still will tell a lie. When you do this, you are saying that there is no God. You are saying that there is no God! But God is standing up looking at you while you are lying and thinking that you are hiding because the other person does not know about it. Because the people do not know, you feel quite confident that you and your situation are hidden. You come to church, straighten up, and try to sing—but you do not fool the Holy Spirit! Amen!

Let me tell you this: if we came in the congregation and our hearts were pure before God, then when we would open our mouths to sing, the whole area would be shaken! Yes! I am telling you we had had prayer meetings where we would go through the whole night. Then when we would get to three o’clock in the morning (for some reason the Spirit would always fall at that time), people in the town would come running out of their beds to the altar. They wanted Jesus! They would always tell the same stories—they could not sleep. “I was tormented! I had to come!” they would say.

So then, the glory of God and the power of God is getting into you and fastening right there, but it is not coming out. If the power of God was let loose in us, our meeting places would not be able to not hold the number of people. This whole town would be shaken! Sinners would be shaken! Oh, yes!

Forgive me please to deviate, but I have seen sorcerers to destroy churches. I don’t think you believe in sorcery. But if you do not believe in sorcery, if you do not believe that there is a living devil, then you do not believe God. For God said that there is a living devil. Let me say it again: if you do not believe in sorcery, then you do not believe God, for the Bible says that there is sorcery. Amen! In Ephesians it speaks of “…spiritual wickedness in high places.” What do you think He is talking about?

I have seen sorcerers oppress a whole church. Yes! They make the leaders of the church get sick, or some go crazy and out of their minds while the people are praising God, clapping, singing, jumping, and leaping. With all that, they cannot overcome the spirit of sorcery that was let loose upon them.

So, I am saying to you that the church is SLEEPING, but it is a time now to wake it up.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, December 2003, pg. 2-3)

Thought for today: Is the glory and the power of God coming into you but not able to come out? Then, stop hiding your sin but let the Blood of Jesus cleanse you so that you might be part of the five wise virgin company.

Scripture reading: 1 John 3:1-9

God moves by certain principles and if we understand the principles of God, we can walk with God. But we cannot walk with God by our own principles, by our own plans. We must walk by His principles and by His plans. So then, God has brought us to a certain place. You may think it is circumstances that have brought you there, but it is the hand of God. And God is still striving with us to bring us into conformity with His Son Jesus Christ. Amen.

The difference between the Christian and the sinner is that the Christian has the power to resist and overcome sin. On the other hand, the sinner has no power against sin. Let me say it again: the Christian has the power to resist sin, but the sinner has no power. Yet, the Christian sometimes commits the same sins and sometimes might do the same things that the sinner does. At one time I was surprised, but I am no longer surprised at seeing Christians cursing and doing wrong things, because I know we have the power to do it. And even though we have the power to do it, we pay the consequence.

God gives us power over the power of the devil. Some people want to have power so that they can heal the sick; so that they can speak the word and this and that happens; so that they can do this and that. But is the power of God “doing”? No! The power of God is to “be.” It is not power to “do,” but it is the power to “be.” Amen!

When you tell me that you have a sin in you, you are confessing that you are rejecting Jesus Christ. I am being hard by saying this, but it is true. I am just giving out the truth as the Spirit of God gives it. You cannot have a sin in you that continually bugs you unless you reject Jesus Christ. For the Holy Spirit will stop you from sinning. You have to overcome Jesus Christ and put Him aside in order to sin. So, therefore, the sin that besets us is not because God is not God and that’s why we sin. We sin because we reject God. For the Son of God (Jesus) was revealed so that we should not sin. I am quoting from 1 John 3:5-6, “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

If you sin, Jesus Christ is not revealed to you. Whatever sin we have, it is because we want it. Somebody goes crying, “Oh God! Take this away from me!” The Bible said that Esau sought repentance with tears, but repentance was elusive to him (see Hebrews 12:16-17). Repentance was running away from him. Why? Because he was only sorry that he had lost the birthright and the blessing. He wanted to consume them unto his lust. You can take God’s goods, God’s goodies and turn them into your lust in order to make yourself great. God help us!

There is a curse in the land. If I tell you what the curse is, it is going to be very hard for you to swallow it. It is the “religion” that we have in us. Amen! You were brought up in a Catholic home (or another religious home), and you say, “Oh, I am no more a Catholic! I am born again now, and I am filled with the Holy Spirit!” I would prefer if you said that you were “baptized” instead of saying that you were “filled” with the Holy Spirit. If you say that you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you are involving God into something that is not godly. Are you with me? You were baptized in the Holy Spirit, but even though you had the change from being a Catholic, your mind still thinks the same way that Catholics think. And this is happening without your knowing it. You said you used to be this and that and that you were the other, but please look into those things that you once were, for some of those things you still are. It is still hanging on you like a disease that did not come out at the first touch.

I pray that you, dear reader, would find yourself using the power that has been given to you to overcome sin in order to be conformed to God’s Son Jesus Christ.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, December 2003, pg. 1-2)

Thought for today: Let us remember that God has not given us His power in order for us to “do.” He has given it to us that we would “be” His righteous people laying aside every sin that so easily besets us.

Receiving the Word of God

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Revelation 7:15-17

Let us look at the verses above. If we put the things they mention in the converse, we will see exactly what was happening to these people. They were hungering, not just for natural food, but for spiritual food. They were thirsting. They were in darkness and He said that the sun would not light on them any more. They were under great pressure from sun and heat and the sufferings of this life. He said He “shall lead them unto living fountains of waters” and He “shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

Many, many people are Christians who are not receiving the Word of God as they ought to. They are not receiving the deliverance that is in the Word, in the truth of the Word. They are hungering and they are thirsting and they are dying in this state without having had the privilege of hearing the unadulterated Word of God. But there is something here that is beautiful and peculiar. He said that He would feed them. Does that mean that people get fed after they leave this life and go into the heavenlies? Is it possible that the heavenlies have food? Is it possible that Christians do feed on the energy from God? Yes, they do. The angels feed on God’s energy while praising the Lord and so do the people.

However, the truth is that we can begin to feed on God now. You can feed on Him not only by praising Him but also by associating everything you see and hear with the Word of God. Years ago I worked in an office with many men. Some of them would tell dirty jokes in my hearing and watch my reaction. One time one of them told a joke about a man who streaked (ran naked) across a stage. I immediately seized the opportunity to interject Isaiah 20:2 where God told the prophet Isaiah to go naked in the streets of Israel in order to get their attention and reveal to them their spiritual nakedness. The man who told the joke was hit so hard by my opportunistic preaching that he said, “You probably know every scripture in the Bible!” From that time on they kept all their jokes out of my hearing, which was a great blessing to me.

Thought for today: Begin to associate everything you see and hear with scriptural references for most of what is happening now has already happened in your Bible. And as you do, you will receive the Word of God and you will hunger no more.
