Atomic Weaponry

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Psalm 91

We remember when the atom bomb was first used. It took a man with the type of strength of character and the type of mind to do it. He knew fully well what it meant. It has been proven that every weapon used in any war in history is used again against the very people who used it first. Check into history. I believe it was the British that first invented the war tank and it came to pass that that very tank was used by Hitler so effectively against the Allied forces.

The people of the United States of America were the first who used the atom bomb. They used it against Japan and whatever the arguments might be and whatever the circumstances might be, THE BOTTOM LINE IS that this weapon was used against a civilian target, used in an open city, killing in a flash of lightning 80,000 people and maiming many more. People like me look with horror upon what was done. (Although I understand that it saved many American lives and ended the war with Japan, and only under those circumstances would Japan ever think of surrendering.) This is what is going to happen to us.

That same weapon is going to come back full circle right into the heart of cities like New York and Chicago and all the big cities (populous places) in the United States. THIS IS NOT A GUESS. This is what we see in the Spirit and this is what is coming. One day that burning mountain is going to be cast into the middle of the sea and many, many will die. Of course, you know what will happen when that is done. America will retaliate and make it a conflagration as never before seen in the history of humanity and I am sure will never happen again. This is going to happen. This is the type of thing we are reading about in Revelation, when the angel cast this thing out into the sea of humanity and it is going to do its work of destruction, no matter what we do.

The people who are the real culprits have the bomb and are waiting for the hour and the time when God will release them to use it. It takes a certain type of human being to make up his mind to use a destructive weapon of this magnitude. I believe that the Arab people, with the bitterness they have against the rest of the western world, might one day too have the power to use this weapon against places like the United States, Israel, and Europe.

Revelation 8:9, “And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.”

“The THIRD PART” can mean man in a spiritual sense, the third part of man who is spirit, soul, and body. It means that their flesh died. It does not mean necessarily that they had gone to hell, but their flesh died. “The third part…died.” “And the third part of the ships” are those that traffic upon human life. There are some who make their living by trafficking back and forth upon humanity. They “were destroyed.” Organizations that do business back and forth would be destroyed. Nevertheless, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Thought for today: Let us remember Psalm 91 where God’s promise is to save His people.

What Pleases God?

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Revelation 8:4-5

Revelation 8:4, “And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.”

Leviticus 16:13, “And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not. This scripture says that the smoke, or the essence of the soul of man, must cover the Mercy Seat and the Ark of the Covenant before we speak to God. That means that our offering must be perfect before God. Revelation 8:4 says that the angel had it in his hand and was offering it up to God and to His throne. This is the very essence of the soul of the people of God. We are talking about a mind that is dedicated to God, a heart that is in tune with God; the emotions that have been weaned from the world and from the emotional outbursts of the normal, carnal, natural man; the will that is dedicated to God; and the desires that have been completely turned to God and belong to God. This is what was being offered up to God. Another scripture says that it comes up to God as a sweet smelling savour. GOD IS ABSOLUTELY PLEASED with the man who offers his heart and who cries from his heart and soul towards God.

Revelation 8:5, “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.”

What on earth are we looking at here? All of a sudden, we see people offering themselves to God. Without that offering, there is no overshadowing, no covering. In other words, God is saying that the true people of God will find safety under the shadow of His wings before the destruction breaks out. The angel came and took the fire from the altar and “cast it into the earth. There is a similarity here between this language and the language in Revelation 16:18. The “fire” that is “cast… into the earth” is the RESULT of the rejection of the Word of God which will be preached.

Thought for today: May our offering be perfect through the cry of our heart and soul unto God.

The Prayer of the Saints

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Romans 8:22-28

Revelation 8:3 says, “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.”

The concerted prayer of the people of God and the cry of the people of God is coming from the whole earth and is coming up before God. God has ordained a special angel to present this. Let me show you exactly what happens to the prayers of the saints.

Romans 8:22-23, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” It is a cry for His kingdom to come, His will be done, in our earth even as it is done in heaven. Verses 24-26, “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit (not just the saints of God, but the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost in us) also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

God is Himself causing us to pray the right prayer. The Holy Spirit within us is groaning and causing us to groan and pray the right prayer to God so that the kingdom of God might come in the realm of earth even as it is in heaven.

Romans 8:27-28, “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”

Revelation 8:3b, “And there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints…” What is the meaning of that? In the Tabernacle, the priest offers the incense at the Golden Altar. THE INCENSE IS A TYPE OF THE SOUL OF MAN. He was offering his soul and the souls of the people for the sins of the people and his own sins.

Thought for today: Remember, God Himself is causing us to make right prayers through the groanings of the Holy Spirit within us.

Scripture reading: Matthew 19:9-12

We have been talking about overcoming our emotions. You know, there were two men in the Bible that God speaks about as not being able to control their children. They let their children loose in the things of God to destroy God’s work. One of these men was Samuel. Apart from Jesus, of course, he was one of the most perfect men in the whole Bible, but he appointed his children as judges over Israel, when they were not judge quality at all! Do you know that that is one of the reasons that you do not see my children here? I would not appoint them to positions in the church. I could have kicked them upstairs. They know more in the gospel than probably anybody else in our midst does. I could kick them upstairs and get them functioning in the things of the Lord. No, Sir! They must come to the standard of holiness and where it is God Who gives them that position.

The other man in the Bible was Eli. God sent a message to Eli, and said, “If you don’t set your sons in order, I am going to kill you and destroy your whole household in one day.” Can you imagine Eli’s response? He said, “Well, you are God…do what you want.”

What a presumption! “Do as you please, God… You are God.” Would you say that? He should have gone down in sackcloth and ashes, calling the elders of Israel concerning his sons, “Arrest them!” That is what he should have done! But the old man had not controlled his emotions when he was a young man, and he could not control them as an old man.

Let us look at Matthew 19:9. Jesus is speaking here to His disciples and says, “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.I believe that adultery is not the unpardonable sin. I believe you can get forgiveness for adultery, but I also believe that you need to seek forgiveness.

Verse 10, “His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.”

Hear the answer Jesus gave in Verses 11-12, “But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake.”

Praise be to God! The answer was “eunuchs.” In other words, everybody who is normal, God expects you to be married, have a wife, and walk in holiness at the same time.

God sent Jehu to take vengeance upon the house of Ahab because of the wickedness of Ahab. In 2 Kings 9:30 Jehu comes riding into Jezreel. He looked up and it was the day of judgment for Jezebel. Jehu saw Jezebel, who looked through the window and saw him. He called to the men up there, “Throw her down!” They could not. Jezebel had gone in and painted her face; she put on her war paint, was looking like a doll, came out, and smiled at the men. And they could not throw her down. But, Jehu saw a eunuch up there. Jezebel could not charm the eunuch for the eunuch has no use for Jezebel. Jehu said, “Throw her down!” The eunuch tossed her down like a log!

Don’t you understand what that story means? God wants you to be eunuchs for the kingdom of God’s sake—men and women who cannot be charmed. Men and women who cannot be tempted. Men and women who have gone above temptation, because THEIR MIND is set on Christ!

God help us, in Jesus’ Name.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, July 2000, pg. 42-43)

Thought for today: Let us set our mind on Christ and become eunuchs for the kingdom of God’s sake—men and women who cannot be charmed, who cannot be tempted.

Stand Now, If You Can Stand!

Scripture reading: Matthew 19:1-8

When Jesus Christ spoke to the disciples in the 19th chapter of Matthew, He was speaking about divorce. Let us look at that. In Verse 7, the Pharisees said unto Him, “Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.” The abundance of sin is what caused divorce. The abundance of sin causes divorce!

A man has his wife, but the wife goes out and mixes herself with someone else! Immediately, she breaks the marriage bond between them. And that man is in trouble! He is in trouble! If he wants to serve God, he cannot mix himself with harlotry; if he wants to serve God, he will have to try to regain her to Christ!

When you, girls, think about marriage, think about these things. When a man comes and makes a commitment before God and before the people, he must have a firm spiritual nature imbedded in him, so that you will know that he is not going to break that commitment.

Young men, when you marry a woman, you must make sure that you marry someone who has a firm commitment; one who is rooted and grounded in the character of God, so that she is not going to break that commitment!

We are being tried now! All of our foundations are being shaken! All of our foundations are being shaken and God is saying to us, “Stand! Stand now, if you can stand!” If you cannot stand now, then you will be among those who end up on the sidelines. We want to be the overcomers that God speaks about. Every one of us here has the capacity to be an overcomer. And God is saying to us, “Overcome this body first!”

Don’t try to go overcome anybody out there! You know, some of us want to overcome spirits—”We are overcomers! We command you in the name of Jesus to depart!” I tell you, the overcomer is going to overcome his body! Because the body is a wild beast that will get loose and try to control you! And it might not be in this way, but it might be in another way. One thing is for sure though: we need to overcome our emotions.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, July 2000, pg. 41-42)

Thought for today: It is time to overcome your body if you don’t want to be among those who end up on the sidelines.
