Scripture reading: Romans 10:17

It is a common error which most of us make when in the heat of the battle – we forget that our power to overcome does not lie in ourselves or in our effort, but in our faith IN GOD. Faith does not necessarily have to be in God. Men can have faith in themselves, or in other persons, or even in other spirits. Today we find that this positive, but misplaced faith has invaded the Christian realm and is causing people to believe for things which are contrary to God’s will. Faith therefore can produce result and yet be not of God. The type of faith used by a well-known “Rev” in New York to produce property and riches, definitely works for those who believe, yet he does not even pretend that it is of God. This faith forms the basis of occult practices, but more and more it is being used by the Christian ministries to produce material results, without spiritual victory. In order to have the VICTORY we must place our faith in God, NOT COMMANDING GOD, as some of us believe we should do, but BELIEVING HIM to destroy the works of the world and the devil in our lives. To believe God, is righteousness.

Many of us are ready and willing to believe God but are lost in the confusion of voices, and cannot have a clear-cut word upon which to place our faith. God has provided ways and means for us to overcome this confusion.  There are basically three avenues through which God is speaking to us:

  1. God is speaking to us through His ministry – BUT there is a thousand ministers preaching a thousand different messages!
  2. God is speaking to us through His word – BUT there are so many different translations saying different things – I do not know which to follow!
  3. God is speaking to us from within by His own voice – BUT I hear so many voices within that I do not know when it is self, the devil, or God!

In spite of the many ministries and the many voices speaking different things, the Lord God has only one ministry and one voice. Any voice which gives you VICTORY over the world, the flesh, and the devil, is the voice of God. You can get victory over an ailment, or victory over financial problems, BUT that is not the barometer by which you can test the voices. The test lies in the fact that you are gaining the victory over worldliness, carnality, and the influence of the devil in your life. The whole world lies under the influence of the devil; sociology, psychology, all the sciences, and even theology are the instruments of Satan to bring the people under his power. There is not one facet of our physical world around us which is not controlled by Satan, therefore, we must hear the voice of God in order to counteract these other voices.

Thought for today: Any voice which gives you VICTORY over the world, the flesh, and the devil, is the voice of God.

Scripture reading: Philippians 3:8

For some time now, the Lord has been stressing the responsibilities and sacrifices that accompany the call of the Lord.

Very early experiences with the Lord made it absolutely clear that only a complete separation from the ways of the world could put one in a place that would delight the heart of God, and cause one to enter into His secrets and be a part of His function in the earth.

ABRAHAM, though referred to as a friend of God, could not fulfill his role before God in Terah’s house, because Terah did not overcome his idol worship, and the ways from which man had departed from God since the fall to that time. God, therefore, commanded Abraham, “Get thee out of thy country… and from THY FATHER’S HOUSE, unto a land that I will show thee.” Many people in our time take this in the natural, and reject their parents in such a way that it breaks their parents’ hearts. They do not realize that such an action does in fact open the road to rebellion. The light of God’s presence in one’s life should shine first in one’s own home, then radiate to others. One might not be able to bring his family to the Lord, but LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE. They need the testimony of Jesus. Yes, God intended Abraham to leave physically, which he did, but took his father and nephew with him, which meant that that family spirit went with him. Abraham was part of Terah his father. One can see the result of this, that Abraham could not move on until he settled the Terah question – until Terah died (no matter that God provided a better way for man’s deliverance and perfection). In all this, Abraham did not lose sight of God’s promises to him – the possession of the whole land. There was no satisfaction in his soul in the places where he traveled, though he kept moving on and hoping. The great test of Abraham’s faith came at mount Moriah: the offering of his son Isaac. He could not see the two things working together – to be made the father of many nations and to offer up his only son – BUT HE BELIEVED GOD – he was sold out to FAITH IN GOD.

In the New Testament, Jesus accomplished man’s salvation in His atoning death, making the salvation of man obtainable by faith, so that man must abandon the reliance in his own effort. Whosoever believes on Him shall not perish. Faith and trust are Christian attributes. All Christians should be sold out to Christ, because He establishes not only FAITH, but THE POWER to accomplish. Some, however, are not willing to pay the price. How sad that there are so many who accept the free will offering of salvation through the blood of Jesus, yet are not willing to forsake the world and its attractions to lay hold of the eternal blessings. It is like the contract of marriage which necessitates forsaking all other men and cleaving to your husband, or forsaking all other women and cleaving to your wife. In most of the marriages of this century, honesty and integrity are not the main ingredients, resulting in broken homes and great disasters. Even so in the Christian world, not many are willing to relinquish the striving after the reliance on the world and one’s abilities, to rely totally on FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS.

One who is a believer and called of God is not his own, he is God’s. To believe means to commit one’s self decisively, not only as a past but a continuous action. Believing will take a person out of himself into Christ. Of course, the Holy Spirit in the believer is God’s mark of ownership, which is the earnest of our inheritance; which guarantees the forthcoming of the final ETERNAL LIFE.

Paul saw the need of counting all things as dung to win CHRIST. Because he was SOLD OUT to Christ, he was able to run the race, to finish his course, and to look forward to what was laid up for him when he came face to face with the Messiah.

Although the term “price to pay” is sometimes used by us (Luke 14:28), it is not such a difficult thing as it might seem, because that which is gained far exceeds the investment.

One certainly cannot be used of God satisfactorily, unless that life is laid down completely and made ready for the Master’s use by fire. Total commitment. NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE, words of Jesus Christ Himself. The disciple is not greater than his Lord.

Scripture reading: Psalm 25:22

I really praise God to be part of the family of God. A family is a unit, though many different members or parts. So, if we are united as the family of God, then we can accomplish great things for we feel for each other. We understand each other’s problems because we feel and experience some of them. That is how a family goes. If one member of the family hurts, then all feel the pain. I am so glad I am a part of the family of God, and we appreciate the prayers of the saints. It is what has kept us going, what has kept us in the Lord, that we can stand before you at the different times, and say, “Praise God for His goodness. Praise God for His glory. Praise God!”

One day the Lord came to me and said, “I am your preserver. I have preserved you.” For the first time my eyes were open to the true understanding of being preserved. I reflected to the times during different attacks of the enemy, physical attacks, and different attacks, that He has preserved. Praise God. The song said, “When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we first begun.” After the ten thousand years have gone, you have no less than when you first begun. The ten thousand years are not the end, but it is the beginning. Praise God. All that we enjoy now, it is only storing up, building up for after, to continue in His praises and in His glory. So don’t be discouraged. Don’t be faint hearted. Only trust Him. Only trust Him. He will lead the way. He will get us out of all the problems. He is the solver of problems, hallelujah. He is our healer! He is our deliverer! He is our fortress. He is our strong tower in which we can hide. Sometimes when the enemy comes pressing in, we forget those words, because he deceives us. But when we are in trouble is the time that we are to seek the Lord, and begin to speak the word of deliverance that he can hear, that he can depart. God is everything. Amen.

Scripture reading: Hebrews 11:3

It says in Hebrews 11:3 that God made the worlds through faith. I don’t know if we can really understand it. It is so vast, and so terrible, and big. Look what is up there. Jupiter is so large that three meteorites the size of the Earth flew into its side and only left three little holes in it. That is how big the planet Jupiter is. They said they saw a planet out in the space that is the size of between the Earth and the sun, 90 million miles across. It is God we are talking about! And He said that by faith all these things were built; meaning to say, God believed it, and God spoke it, and it was done.

Try it, brethren. Begin to try little things. Just exercise your faith. The more you exercise it, the bigger it is going to become. You need it now, because you are going to have to have faith in the coming years to be delivered from what is coming on the earth.  Amen.

I was listening to a man one day. He said the Lord showed him that the Christians should get out of debt. I said, “How could we get out of debt when we all have to live in houses?” We all have to buy our cars and by the time you buy a car and finish paying for it, it is about ready for you to buy another one. So you will always be paying for a car. This man said he asked God the same thing and God answered to him, “If you believe, it will happen. Little by little, the money will come, and when it comes, put it against that debt.” As you put it against that debt, he said it is going to pay it off. He showed several people who it happened to. I believe him. I believe if you believe God, you put that first. You don’t say, “But Lord, how can I do it? I don’t have this money and I am only getting so much.” Not necessary. Just believe God and say, “God, do this for me. I do not want to owe this debt. I put it in your hands.” And every money He gives you to pay it, pay it off, and see what happens. May God help us to really reach out and take ahold of that substance that is called faith.

Let us pray: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You to thank You that You have given us all things in Christ Jesus, and that there is nothing that we want to serve You with that we cannot have. Many of us are sick in our bodies and we are going to put this before You first. We are asking that your body of people might receive divine health. Divine health, Your plan, Your purpose, Your will, and those of us who have an ailment, we need divine healing. Let it be, Lord God. Break the power of sickness from the people of God. LOOSE! AMEN! This is what we believe. Send this power across the world tonight, and break the power of sickness in the lives of the people of God, amen! You said that when the plague came, it would not take us. You said that those who dwell in the land of Goshen were delivered from the plagues of Egypt. There was no plague in Goshen. But, Lord God, when the plague comes, it takes the Christians as well as the sinners. We are asking You now, Lord God, as we reach out in faith, that You will break the power of these different plagues and sicknesses that are going across the land. Save Your people, Lord God! We ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Scripture reading: Hebrews 12:1-2

I have noticed that some of us go to God in prayer and say, “Oh, God, I’m so poor and needy. Lord, God, such and such a person did me so and so. Oh, God, they talk about me. They do this and that and the other.” You are complaining to God everything that God knows already! What God wants to know is what you want to do about that!

So you go to God and say, “Father, You and I have a blood covenant and I want to see righteousness come forth in me!” Oh, God is so glad to hear that! He is going to give you every opportunity to be righteous. That means He will let the trouble come down on you. He will let the devil loose on you. Yes! He said, “All right, you are strong enough.” Let the devil loose on you, sit down and watch how you handle the devil. Amen.

Hebrews 12:1 says that the brethren who have gone on before are a cloud of witnesses watching us and seeing how we run the race. What does that mean? That means that there are certain things happening to you because God wants to find somebody who He can let those things happen to in order to give an object lesson to those who have gone on before who did not overcome! Let me give you an example: you have a temptation to drink. Some of you hide it, of course. You have a temptation to drink and every now and then you go take a little sip. The angel of God is watching you. He wants you to overcome that spirit because it is a spirit that is coming and taking you. Yes. He wants you to overcome that spirit because Tom Stokes (or whoever) who is in heaven did not overcome the spirit. I know mighty men of God, who never overcame the spirit of drinking. For example, Brother Allen. I knew him personally. I worked with him, and he couldn’t stop drinking. The man was one of the most powerful men you have ever seen. He would come in and command the devils out of people! They brought to him a mad man, chained, and he just commanded the devil out of him. It was because God gave him the gift and he practiced, he knew what he was doing. God would not take the gift away from him. He had the faith yet; God gave him the faith. He should have used it on his own behalf.

Brethren, use the faith you have been given to overcome the spirits in your life. You see, first, you have to believe. But then, you have to go forward. You say, “I am going to do it. I am going to let God have His way.”
