Scripture reading: Matthew 19:1-8

When Jesus Christ spoke to the disciples in the 19th chapter of Matthew, He was speaking about divorce. Let us look at that. In Verse 7, the Pharisees said unto Him, “Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.” The abundance of sin is what caused divorce. The abundance of sin causes divorce!

A man has his wife, but the wife goes out and mixes herself with someone else! Immediately, she breaks the marriage bond between them. And that man is in trouble! He is in trouble! If he wants to serve God, he cannot mix himself with harlotry; if he wants to serve God, he will have to try to regain her to Christ!

When you, girls, think about marriage, think about these things. When a man comes and makes a commitment before God and before the people, he must have a firm spiritual nature imbedded in him, so that you will know that he is not going to break that commitment.

Young men, when you marry a woman, you must make sure that you marry someone who has a firm commitment; one who is rooted and grounded in the character of God, so that she is not going to break that commitment!

We are being tried now! All of our foundations are being shaken! All of our foundations are being shaken and God is saying to us, “Stand! Stand now, if you can stand!” If you cannot stand now, then you will be among those who end up on the sidelines. We want to be the overcomers that God speaks about. Every one of us here has the capacity to be an overcomer. And God is saying to us, “Overcome this body first!”

Don’t try to go overcome anybody out there! You know, some of us want to overcome spirits—”We are overcomers! We command you in the name of Jesus to depart!” I tell you, the overcomer is going to overcome his body! Because the body is a wild beast that will get loose and try to control you! And it might not be in this way, but it might be in another way. One thing is for sure though: we need to overcome our emotions.

Thought for today: It is time to overcome your body if you don’t want to be among those who end up on the sidelines.

Scripture reading: Ephesians 4:26-27

Ephesians 4:26a says, “Be ye angry, and sin not.” I know what it is to get hit hard with words. You should quickly submit yourself to God. We must be under the control of God! The anger must never come to fruition, never show itself or manifest. We must be able to conquer right in the midst of the tribulation. This is what God is saying to us.

Every time I read about the coming of Jesus, I see the warning, “Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.” Watch! Watch! Watch! What is the meaning of watching? It means I MUST WATCH MYSELF. I must watch my mind, what I think, what I believe, and what I submit to. I must watch the thoughts coming from the outside. I must watch the bombardment. Bless be to God, I must be delivered from my besetting sin or my familiar spirits, the spirits my mother had, or my father had, which made them do things contrary to God. These I must overcome by the power of God, by the Spirit of God.

Your first move, brother, sister, is to believe this word! Once you believe it, you can receive it. If you do not believe it, you will never receive it no matter how much you read your Bible.

The four beasts mentioned in Ezekiel 1 and Revelation 4 are natures that are planted in the human realm, within us. They are in our flesh and in our souls trying to destroy the soul. But praise God, “what is good for the goose is good for the gander.” The Spirit of God comes and bombards the soul with radiation, with lights of glory. He bombards the soul night and day, while you are asleep and while you are awake. You only have to leave your God door open. He sets a watch over you. There are guardian angels that watch over you. You should rise up in the morning and say to God that you are vulnerable and ask Him to see to it that you do not sin this day, to see to it that you think no evil or do no wrong this day! Then every time the incidence of evil approaches you, or you think to commit an evil act, or have an evil thought, SOMETHING WILL PRICK YOU, and you will remember that prayer. Sometimes we sin unconsciously. We are so accustomed to sinning that we do not have to think to sin. We just go right ahead and sin. We are not even conscious of it, but the God of heaven has set a watchman within you to make you conscious.

Thought for today: Watch, Watch, Watch! Pray that you might not enter into temptation.

Scripture reading: Revelation 12:7-11).

In every type of warfare, in order to be effective and to win, one must know the enemy.  There are two basic tricks that Satan plays on humanity:

1.  He appeals to the carnal mind to deny his existence and hides his work to convince the carnal mind that it is just natural and sometimes coincidental.  He did it to Eve, and tried it with Jesus.

2.  He intimidates some, convincing them of the greatness of his prowess.

The time has come as never before in the history of mankind for the saints to fight and to overcome the devil.  In the heat of the battle, when one is oppressed with all manner of circumstances and what seems to be coincidences, one is apt to think, “Why me?”  When, however, we understand the nature of the battle, we will rejoice at the wonderful implications which it portends.

The first glorious implication that we will deal with in the passage of scripture from Revelation 12 is that portion where it is written, “…neither was their place found any more in heaven.”  If we rightly assume that the word “heaven” in this rendition is speaking of the kingdom of God and that this dimension of the kingdom is referring to the kingdom within us (Ref. Luke 17:21), then this verse would be saying that Satan and his angels had a place in us, but that at some time in the history of the Church they will lose that place.  If then, time is so far spent that we are at the end of the sixth day and within a few short years the seventh day or seventh millennium must dawn, then it is now time for us to be totally delivered from every evil spirit of darkness.

In order to achieve this, there must be a travail (Revelation 12:2).  The travail of the Church is the war that we are experiencing at this time.  The only pattern that this attack has is that it is satanic.  The war has no boundaries, nor venue.  The enemy is using every element, every devil, and every person who can be used against us.  The war is total.  Every weakness, which in time past was permitted to lodge within us and had a place in us, is being exploited and there is no place to hide.  The families are under attack as never before.  The children are under attack as never before.  The husbands who could hide their weakness behind the skirts of their wives are being exposed and the wives who were hiding behind the masculinity of their husbands are being exposed.  Our only hiding place now is in Christ.

Sin has lost its hiding place in us.  Only true repentance will set us free from imbibed or besetting sin, for now is the time when the fullness of salvation shall come to us.

(Excerpt from The Omega Message, December 1991, pg. 1-2)

Thought for today: Let us fall before the Lord and repent before Him from every sin which doth so easily beset us so that we may find our hiding place in Christ.
