You Can Overcome!

Scripture reading: Job 2:1-10

Let me show you a very peculiar thing: We feel very spiritual when we are in the meeting where the Spirit of God flows, don’t we? When we are in the place of worship, praising God, being the sons of God, and so and so, it is so easy to be spiritual. However, if God allows him, Satan could send a man in our midst, open his hand, and give some of you one good wallop. It would be enough to put you clean out of the Spirit! Yes! You would be cussing in no time. You would be ready to kill him in no time.

Just imagine: Satan comes in here, and a man comes in and takes up one of your children, kicks him, and beats him, and Lord—you lose it! We are too vulnerable! But we must be above that! We must be in the place where we can stand temptation, and we can rebuke the devil, and walk out unscathed!

If there is anything in your life that the devil can use to upset you, you are in trouble, because he is going to use it. One day, when he is ready for you—when his psychology tells him that you are vulnerable—he is going to use it. Do you understand me?

In my youth, I used to be a fighter. I loved to box; I loved to fight. I used to fight on the streets. Even after coming to Jesus Christ, the demon of fight still was there. I did not get rid of it so easily. I discovered that I still had this devil, because I felt my ears “getting hot” when certain people disturbed me. (You must notice these things about yourselves.) I said to God, “I cannot live like this! I am not living with this ancestral demon! I am not going to live with this demon that my father had; that my father’s father had! I am not going to live with this. I do not want it!”

I started fasting. No sooner had I finished the fast, a young man came up to my desk in my workplace. I am at my desk working, he is at his desk working, and I am telling him that he is not doing well at all. All of a sudden, I see a fist coming towards my chin. He began to beat on me! (Now remember, I do not remember ever losing a fight in my life, because I was wild. I never tried to get into fights; I always tried to get away from it; but once I got into a fight, it was for keeps.) Now, this guy comes and he is just throwing at me. The worst part about it was that he was not good. You know, I knew when a man was a good fighter, but he was not good at all! I decided that he was not going to hit me in my face, because I was not too sure of me. (Do you hear me? I was not sure of me!) When he made a blow at my head, I would move away and move around, and I did not let him hit me. But he was driving into my body and I was praying, “Oh, God, don’t let me hit him. Oh God, help me!” I won! Hallelujah!

He finished beating and went to his seat. I did not even report him, because if I reported him I could fire him from the job right away. I did not do anything to him. I laughed! It was the first day of my victory! Praise God!

Remember now, after hearing this, you are going to get hit. After this message, if you decide to stand, you are going to get hit! For the devil came to God and said, “The only reason why Job is so good is because you have not really allowed me to let loose on him. You let me get a hold of his children and see what he will do. He will curse you to your face.” But God saw Job’s beginning, God saw Job’s continuation, and God saw Job’s end. So, He said, “Go ahead.” Hallelujah!

And the mighty Satan—he could not beat Job! Satan was an archangel. It says in Ezekiel 28, that he was among the “stones of fire.” Satan could not beat a common, natural, ordinary man! He could not whip him! He tried everything. He put him down on his back in ashes and sores suffering for three long years, and he could not beat Job! He could not get Job to curse God, and that was the thing he wanted Job to do. Now, you have come, and God says, “You can overcome.” Every one of us can overcome!

Thought for today: Believe God that you can overcome and be numbered among those who will have overcome all things. But you must make up your mind and let God do His work in you.

People Who Mean Business with God

Scripture reading: Ezekiel 8:11-12

Let us look a little closer at the problem that we, the people of God, are faced with at this time:

Ezekiel 8:11-12 shows that because your mind is your own, because I do not see what you are thinking, because I do not see what you are feeling, you feel that you are safe. We feel that we are safe because nobody else knows that we lusted over here, or we desired over there. It is all in your mind!

I remember one of the great testings I received as a young man. I had told God to take my life unless I was going to live holy. If He saw that I was not going to live holy, He must “Kill me now!” I said, “God, I am going to give you a chance to kill me! I will neither eat nor drink water for forty days. Kill me!” I am talking about people who mean business with God, whose life does not mean anything to them compared to gaining that thing which God has ordained for them.

Well, God did not kill me, as you might notice. He brought me alive again after this terrible ordeal, but it gave a deathblow. Shortly after this happened, I went to bed one night and got up struggling in my sleep because something was choking me. When I woke up, I was still being choked and I was still struggling. I found out that there was a girl on top of me. She had crept into the room naked, got on top of me, and held me. She felt that she could overcome me in that way.

The first thing that happened, as I came to consciousness, was anger. Why should she believe that I would cast away God for her! She did not respect the power of my salvation! I overcame that night, but I still lost the church and my name. Do you know why? Because a woman refused is a savage creature. She went out and told everybody how she slept with me; and my dignity would not allow me to defend myself against the tongues of my accusers.

I want you to understand that if you are in a condition where a naked woman can come in and take you, you are in a bad shape. And I know many of us are in that shape. You have to get to the point where it would not faze you, it would not affect you. You have to get to that point!

Thought for today: You can only get to the point where sensuality does not faze you if you allow Christ Jesus to come into your mind and to control your body, so that your body will not obey any other master but your mind; and your mind, your spirit; and your spirit, the Holy Spirit!

Every Knee Shall Bow

Scripture reading: Daniel 7:27

Let us go back again upon the Word and take some context of Matthew 16. First of all, in Matthew 16:13, Jesus says, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” Actually, who men say Jesus is does not really count! Who YOU believe Jesus is – this is what counts! Amen!

Verses 14-15, “…And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am?”

We have not employed the power of Jesus to the extent and with the intensity that we should. We all get in trouble and in the midst of the trouble we sometimes forget to call upon the Name of Jesus. However, I want you to remember that at the name of Jesus, “…every knee shall bow” (Philippians 2:10-11).

What does that mean, “…That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow?” Somebody believes that it means that the people are going to praise God and say, “Oh, Lord God, you are wonderful.” That is one way to bow the knee – that is the way Christians bow the knee. However, when a strong man meets a stronger man, he bows the knee by force. Now, we are talking about spiritual force here and that we do have the power to overthrow Satan and all his works. Do you know why the Church will do it now? It is because this is the hour and our time has come. The time has come. Our time is near at hand! Let me show it to you, because some people do not believe that we are really at the time.

Daniel 7:27, “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most high, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.”

Who is the power being given to?  “…the people of the saints of the most high.” They will break Satan! We are not talking about any rapture where we run away and leave things in this condition, but we are talking about beating the devil by the power of the Blood and the Spirit; beating him in this earth, in this life; overcoming him and standing on mount Zion with Jesus Christ! Amen!

We are talking to an overcoming people! Those of you who do not believe in overcoming might as well stop reading now. I am talking to a people who are slated (who are designated; who are mandated) to overcome the devil! The same devil that is striking you in your body; the same devil that is making you sick; the same devil that sends some of us to the hospital; the same devil that sends some of us to every kind of degradation, and sin, and destruction, and distress – that same devil! We are mandated by God to destroy him and we have the power. Oh, yes! We should not bow to the beatings and the slappings of the devil, because if God did not know that we were tough enough, He would not have allowed him to slap us so hard. Some of the things I see some of you going through, I say, “My God, what would I do if I were in that position?”

But the point is that God says of the Sons of God, “…they loved not their lives unto the death” (Revelation 12:11b). God is making soldiers out of us. People who will not give up because the storm is raging. People who will not give up because things are going against them. People who will not give up because they are weary!

Sometimes you feel like you cannot go another minute. You are weary, you are tired, you are distressed, you are embattled on every hand – that is the time to fight! Hallelujah! Amen! For the victory is just ahead!

Power over the Power of the Enemy

Scripture reading: II Timothy 3:1-5

There are spirits of darkness that are giving the church much trouble. Knowing this tells us that the church has to overcome the princes and their palities (areas of rulership) all over the world, of every tongue and every tribe and nation. Therefore, the battle is both on the individual level, as well as on the corporate level. The spiritual rulers of the old Roman Empire, and the great Viking spirits of the Norsemen of Scandinavia, the Prince of Persia (with whom Michael and Gabriel contended in order to give Daniel the message of God), along with all the other principalities in the world have held the people captive for thousands of years, but God is now arming His church to break and bind them, and to set His chosen people free. These spirits do not grow old and senile, they only get wiser over the centuries. Nevertheless, God has given us “Power…over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19, Matthew 28:18-19). He did not say that the enemy has no power, but what He said is that we will have a greater power to defeat and overcome them.

When Peter, Paul, James, John, and the early church came out against these spirits in the beginning of the church, the spirits were new to the experience of dealing with a Holy Ghost filled church. The brethren therefore did not have many of the problems we face now. The Word in II Timothy 3:1-5 says that in the latter time, “perilous times” would come, which was a prophecy for our time.

We are now facing a well-developed spirit opposition that has been for two thousand years educated in warfare against the church. They have to a great extent hindered the development of the church, and muzzled many of the people of God by all manner of diversions and sensual and devilish devices. They have succeeded in creating a “World/Church” mixture – a concoction that is offensive to God. Not only is the church facing an enhanced spirit opposition, but in the human realm, man has attained or is very close to attaining his “666,” which is the “fullness of man” (the highest point of human development). However, instead of preventing the development of the true church, this has enhanced it, in that we have heard the trumpet of God calling us to great determination and more diligence in our walk with Him; to a will and purpose set to be like Jesus, according to the promise.

What Is Life? – Part 2

Scripture reading: John 1:4-5

The devil must be really mad to know that there is such a thing named LIFE! It is written in John 1:4-5, “IN HIM WAS LIFE AND THE LIFE WAS THE LIGHT OF MEN. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” 

In this passage, the word translated “comprehended” could be better rendered “overcame.” The devil cannot overcome life for the life is the light. We are actually taking in more and more of the light and the life, which is more and more of Christ which is our resurrection. BY OUR DAILY SPIRITUAL GROWTH, WE ARE ACTUALLY TAKING IN CHRIST. WE ARE TAKING IN OUR RESURRECTION. THE MORE YOU OPEN UP TO GOD, THE MORE THE CHRIST COMES IN. CHRIST IS OUR LIFE! (See Colossians 3:4.)

Imagine a picture of the Great Almighty God, Author and Possessor of this great reservoir called LIFE. The name of God’s LIFE is Christ (Messiah). He dipped into His bosom and took out “Messiah,” and let Him loose in the earth. The life came down as an entity in the person of Jesus Christ. God can divide Himself in as many parts as He wants to since He has power over all things and all things are subject to His will.

In Luke 1, the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary with her consent. The conversation that the angel had with her was designed to get her consent. When Mary accepted what the angel said, he departed. He was only the messenger. The Holy Ghost then came and overshadowed her, meaning to say that the Holy Ghost planted the seed of Life in her, and she became pregnant, because that was the will of God. Some ignorant people felt this was a sexual thing. God is the Creator. He created Adam and Eve. He created the first man, and He was in the process of creating the second man. The first man, “Adam,” was a full-grown man; the second man was born in a manger, sired of God, born of a woman. The first man, “Adam,” was a natural man, and the second man, “the Lord from heaven.” (See I Corinthians 15:47).

May God bless our understanding. God put Jesus into Mary and Christ into Jesus. Therefore, when Mary birthed Jesus as a babe, she brought forth Christ in the earth. Since Christ is the Messiah, the second person of the Godhead from before the foundation of the world, then the birth of Jesus Christ was the entrance of God as a member of the human race.

When we receive Christ in us through the action of the Holy Spirit, then we are on par with Jesus when He was born of Mary in Bethlehem of Judea. Jesus, therefore, did not need to be born again, since He was never born of corruptible seed. Because we were born of corruptible seed, we need to be born again.

You were first born in Adam, then you were born in Christ. A charge of LIFE came into the earth in Jesus Christ, and then the charge came into you as an individual. This life is eternal; it cannot die.

Thought for today: Let us grow daily in God in order to take in Christ, to take in our resurrection. The more you open up to God, the more the Christ comes in. Christ is our life!
