Scripture reading: 1 John 3:1-10

When you read 1 John 3:1-10, it is interesting to watch the logical development of the thoughts of God. This is God’s thinking that we are talking about now. God is saying, “NOW we are the sons of God.” He is saying that we are not yet what we will be. So, don’t expect yourself to be all glorious with wings and everything NOW, because you are not yet what you will be. But what we do know, we know it for sure, that when He appears, we will be like Him. Whatever He is, that’s how we will be. How simple it is. He is developing. Then he goes on to say further that anyone who sins is under the law, for sin is the transgression of law. If I ask you if you sin, you are going to be baffled, and some will say, “Well, maybe…” and so and so. But the answer is, “No.” You do not sin. If you are born of God, you do not sin. If you are not born of God, you sin.

Verse 5 says, “And ye know that he (Jesus Christ) was manifested to take away (your) sins…” Therefore, if you have Jesus Christ, He has taken away your sin. But let’s go on, because I am sure somebody still doesn’t understand.

Verse 6, “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not (does not sin)…” Whoever abides in Christ does not sin. I will explain that to you. The word “sinneth” is the present continuous tense, like sinning. It is the way that this verse is written in the original Greek text, in the present continuous tense, that means “continues on to sin.” Whosoever continues as a sinner then he, “…hath not seen him (Jesus) – hath not seen Yeshua, hath not seen God – ”…neither known him (he does not know him).

Now, some of you feel that I am condemning you right here with the scripture. But the scripture is right, and we are wrong. So, this is what we decide right now – that the scripture is right.

You notice that it says in verse 7, “Little children…” (“teknion” in Greek). He is not talking about big sons; he is talking about little children. The reason he said little children is because we are struggling with sin. “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth…” You notice the word “doeth.” “Doeth” is another present continuous meaning “he that continues to do.” “…he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he (God) is righteous.” And he that continues to do sin is unrighteous. That’s what it says. Now, let’s go on.

Verse 8, “He that committeth (again, continuous present, “to commit”) sin is of the devil…” You notice how gradually he comes to it. He doesn’t just come right out and say, “You are of the devil if you sin.” But he gives you the whole logical sequence coming down and bringing the thought down. This is God’s thinking. “He that committeth sin (continues to commit sin) is of the devil; for the devil sinneth (continues to sin) from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (that is, sin). 9 Whosoever is born of God doth (does) not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil (world)…” That’s where the difference comes in.

We are talking about “committeth.” Now, the word “committeth” in the Greek is what we call an active verb. Active verb is, for example, I go. That means I must do some action to go. I go. I hit. I talk. I leap. These are active verbs. When it says an active verb, it means you must actually, deliberately commit sin. Now, those who are born of God don’t actively, deliberately commit sin. They fall INTO sin. They make mistakes. They stumble. That’s why he said, “Little children.” You know, little children go on, they stumble, they fall, and they get up again. So then, God is saying, “My little children,” it is good for you to know that those who go around committing sin are of the devil. It is good for you to know that the sons of God do not go to deliberately commit sin. Now, I didn’t say they don’t sin, because they fall into sin. They didn’t want to do it, but they did it anyhow. They didn’t want to say it, but they said it anyhow. It means that they are careless. But as they grow up and get stronger, they stop stumbling and stop falling. Praise God.

Scripture reading: I Thessalonians 5:17; Ephesians 6:18

Some of us are throwing bombs at one another and we do not even know that we are doing it. It is like children playing with hand grenades. If you see a Christian robbing the pockets of other people, it is not your duty in the Spirit to speak evil or pronounce evil on him, but you should pray for him, and rebuke the evil spirit that is motivating him to the intent that he should be set free, so that the spirit will be smitten and not the man. Let us realize that the weaker Christian will always fall prey to the devil, and will do things that are really bad.

I John 3:9a says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin.” Therefore, when you see a Christian do wrong things, curse the devil, for there is no will in the child of God to do sin. Committing sin is a deliberate act. When you see children of God doing wrong, look right behind them and you will see the devil; for he is using the individual in such a way as to make you come against the individual. The brother (or sister) is made to look so bad that we have the tendency to strike at him instead of at the spirit that is motivating him. We should begin now to strike at the kingdom of Satan and at the rulers of darkness.

I remember there were a few things that have come that have caused us to bombard the kingdom of Satan as a Body united together. The first occasion on which this occurred was when a force had come from outside of our ranks and divided the flock. We were bombarded with evil prayers (sorcery) from this source. God would awaken us at three every morning, and some of us in other parts of the country could not sleep during other hours. We continued binding the spirits of the kingdom of Satan, from the principalities that rule in the different areas, to the lowly human vessels that were submitting to them. This went on until there was a loosing and a deliverance for the brethren.

I will give you a secret – the kingdom of darkness cannot stand the bombardment of the kingdom of light. It has been proven time and time again. If you want to see the devil confused and do foolishness, just start to bombard him in every area. Every morning when you get awake, bombard him! Speak against the ruling spirit that rules in your area. Command them to lose their hold on the children of God, that God’s people might be set free; and command that he be bound this day, that he cannot deceive the people of God. Then you will see the churches around you begin to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to be free in their services.

Some of you have problems with sleeping. Every time you get awake, bombard the devil! When you cannot sleep, call upon the name of the Lord; break the strongholds of Satan! Command the deliverance for the people! Some of our groups are almost covered with demons. Everybody seems to be possessed and oppressed by his or her own business. There is a secret that can deliver the people. Let somebody begin to tear down the walls of hell, and you will see people running to church, to assemble themselves together with the Body of Christ. It is God’s will that we should meet together. When we meet together, there are prophecies and the working of the Spirit in our midst, which is a special manifestation of the Spirit that does not happen when we are alone! It is happening, because we are together. And so, bombard hell and command the deliverance for the people of God.

Thought for today: Are you in a business of bombarding the devil? Don’t let him rest but bring the light upon him so that he is confused and the people of God are made free.

Scripture reading: Romans 6:23

Do you believe in the doctrines in Hebrews 6:1-2? They are so simple and so basic that you must believe in them. If you don’t, go repent, get them and make sure you have them stored in your heart, because these are your basic foundation. You are going to be called to stand upon them in the midst of battle. You must get the resurrection of the dead and the eternal judgment right. You must know that everything you do, EVERYTHING you do will appear in the judgment. Every thought you had will appear in the judgment. You get forgiveness of sins if you pray to Jesus and ask Him for forgiveness. Now, can you pray about something that you did deliberately? Yes, you can, but you mustn’t do it again. In other words, you are supposed to be changed.

Do you know that a Christian doesn’t sin and a sinner doesn’t do righteousness? That sounds rough, doesn’t it? I am just quoting our Brother John. You have to decide whether John is right or wrong, whether he was in the Spirit when he wrote that. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin” (1 John 3:9). Now, the key word here is commit.

You get together and say, “Brother, let us rob the bank tomorrow.” You lay out your plans to rob the bank and execute the robbery. You are NOT born of God. If you were working on the roof of a bank and the roof gave way, you fell into the vault, picked up a few coins and put them in your pocket, then you might be able to go and repent, and say, “Lord, forgive me.” But what I am saying is that he that is born of God, that is a son of God, cannot deliberately, willfully sin. No one that is born of God can willfully sin. NO ONE that is born of God can continue in sin. You can fall into sin, but you cannot continue in it. If a person is continuing in sin, he needs repentance from the beginning. He has to go back and repent from some dead works.

There is a judgment on sin. The judgment on sin is already pronounced, “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Now if you believe that, you will not sin. Unfortunately, we sin both in thoughts and in deeds.
