Babylon Is Fallen

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Revelation 18:2

I get accused for talking about Babylon. People say, “But we are all children of God!” You know, some words have a bad connotation. They sound bad, and they are bad. The word “Babylon” is a terrible word, but we were all “children of Babylon.” Babylon is the place of mixing the things of God with the things of evil. It is the place of false religion and spiritual confusion; and God tells us to “come out.”

Revelation 18:2, “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”

I want you to notice: Why did He say, “Babylon…is fallen?” It is not because they were not picking up enough collection. It is not because they were not preaching some truth, and it is not because their institutions were diminished in any way. As a matter of fact, more souls are being saved there than are being saved in our midst—but they are fallen! You will notice that even many years after God rejected Saul, he still remained as king, but he was fallen! He was finished! He was a “Dead man walking!”

God is saying that Babylon is fallen because it is taken by spirits! Isn’t this what it says? That all the evil men, evil spirits, devils—they were all hiding in under the Babylonish system—posing as Christians! It says, “From such turn away.”

I want you to understand. Robeson was a Southern Baptist, one of their star ministers, but he “came out.” One day a man got hold of him, he got “really” saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost, and began to preach. He tells a story. He said the church system was nothing but wickedness and rottenness. When he came out and began to preach to his own men, he was shocked to see who came to the altar and even to him secretly to ask him to pray for him; they were in adultery and sins of all sort!

Now, why didn’t the church discover that? Don’t you think if somebody in your midst was in adultery, you would discover it? You had better! If you have the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost is going to reveal the sin in your midst!

What Disorderly Walking Is

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: 2 Thessalonians 3:6

I keep hearing people asking me a question, “If we are born again and we are saved, why do we not fellowship with the other people who are born again and who are saved?” 2 Timothy 3:5 says that we should turn away from those who have a form of godliness but deny the power of God. Then in 2 Thessalonians 3:6 it says that we are not to walk with any brother that walks disorderly.

Paul speaks further of this in 1 Corinthians 5:9-11, “I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you NOT TO KEEP COMPANY, if any man THAT IS CALLED A BROTHER be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; WITH SUCH AN ONE NO NOT TO EAT.”

He said that he was not talking about the disorderly walk of the sinners, for verily well we would have to leave this world in order not to walk with sinners who walk disorderly; but he said, if a “brother.” If a man goes by the name of Jesus Christ and he is not walking right or walking orderly (according to God’s order), then do not walk with him! Isn’t that scriptural?

What do we mean then by a brother who is walking disorderly and us withdrawing ourselves from him? For instance, there is a brother who is in sin—he is committing fornication, but every time he comes into church, he wants to give a word; he wants to play the guitar; he wants to play the organ; he wants to sing; he wants to preach! Tell him point blank, “Brother, we love you. You can come to church as much as you want to, but please do not do anything like that.” Do you know why? It is very simple. If he is allowed to minister, then the young ones will say, “Okay, we can do the same because he is doing it, and he is preaching.” Therefore, we just tell him, “Brother, we love you. Stay with us. Come, God will cleanse you one day, but do not preach. Do not lead. You are walking disorderly.”

Also, it is a wonderful thing if you can tell a person what you see without getting mad. You do not have to get mad to do it. If you genuinely love the brother, you will tell him! You do not want him to go to hell by preaching. We have had preachers who were in that condition. We had to finally tell them.

That is what disorderly walking is, but it is even more than that. All of a sudden, a brother would come to me and say, “Well, Brother duCille, I believe what you preach. I believe the Word of God that you preach, but there is one part of it that I do not believe. The part of the Scripture that talks about “pastors.” I want to be a pastor, and I expect that you will fellowship with me and be as nice to me as ever.”

I would say to him, “Brother, I love you. I love you with all my heart, but I will not fellowship with you.”

But, you say, “You are wrong. This brother is saying that he is baptized with the Holy Ghost. He believes in the most of what you say, but he just does not believe in the ‘no pastor’ business!”

I would say, “No! My God tells me that if a person has a Nicolaitan spirit, and he works as a pastor, he cannot be at the same time in obedience to God.”

You say, “But Brother duCille, are you telling me that all these beautiful pastors, these men of God are not in obedience to God?”

I say, “They are all in disobedience!” That is what God told me when He called me. He said in Revelation 18:4, “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

And the Door Was Shut

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Matthew 25:7-13

Come and listen to Matthew 25. The virgins arose and trimmed their lamps, “…AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT.”

What door are we talking about? In Scripture, words have a very strong connotation and power on different levels. You read a word down here and then read a word up here, and the word carries a greater power. The “door” means Jesus Christ. He said, “I am the door.” In this verse, the door into Christ was shut. That means that Christ has had His full amount of people (those who will reign and rule with Him) and He shut that door. It was shut!

We don’t really understand what it means. No matter how much we feel that we understand, we have no idea. I often make fun and say, “Well, you will be in charge of Champaign, and the other one will be in charge of San Francisco,” and so on, but what God is talking about is much, much more than that. There are some things of God’s divine plan for the ages that we never even dream about. God wants people. He is recruiting people now for that position! You are going to be part of that according to what you are now, because this is the proving ground! Do you understand it? I put you on the proving ground, and you go taking it easy! You need to understand! Rise up now, and do what God wants you to do now! Because we are the people of the end, and we are at the end. Hallelujah.

We are talking about “The coming of Christ.” Young people, some of you have never heard the gospel right, and you need to know what is meant when we talk about the coming of Christ. Christ is first coming in His temple; then He will come out there for everybody to see Him. In other words, CHRIST coming in His Temple, and JESUS CHRIST coming out there.

Matthew 25:10 says, “And while they (the foolish virgins) went to buy (oil for their vessels), the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.”

Do you know what “fool” means? “Fool” means that they have said in their hearts that “there is no God” (Psalm 53:1). You can be fools for a while and wise afterwards, but when you are wise too late then you find yourself outside in the darkness seeking oil.

The whole idea that God is showing us is that there is an elect people. There is an ekklesia—a Church—a “called out” people, and out of the “called out” God is calling out. God is calling out a people to be “excellent,” to be “diligent,” to be the “top”; and I believe that everyone who is reading this article has that privilege right now.

When we speak of a person who is not going to make it, we are only speaking about those who do not WANT to make it! That’s right! You say you want to make it, but if you never make the effort, you will not make it! God wants people who are diligent: who will lay down their life for God and for what they think God is saying that they should do, and what they should be.

It says in Matthew 25:13, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

What am I saying? Why would He tell you to watch if you did not have a chance? So then, the destiny is not a fixed destiny (that you must go to heaven, or you must go to hell, and you must…). No! If you do not understand God, then you will believe that; but if you understand God, you will know that God has given us a race to run; and He said, “All of you—RUN!” (Ref. 1 Corinthians 9:24, Hebrews 12:1).

Furthermore, God gives you everything. He gives you everything possible to make you all winners! Some will win and some will lose, because those who lose do not have the heart to win. “Watch ye therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Yet, there will be some outside in the darkness seeking oil.

Easter Worship

[Printable version]

Scripture reading: Ezekiel 8:16

Let us look once again at the worship in the ancient Babylon and see what God is saying to us at this time.

There was yet another great day of worship in Babylon when they commemorated the death of Nimrod who was slain by an arrow sent by the sons of God, quite likely Shem. Shem was Nimrod’s great-grand uncle who prayed against the wickedness that was being perpetrated by him. ISHTAR was a time of revelry, a time when they would have shooting matches and similar activities. It was an ancient mass that they instituted after Nimrod was killed by an arrow. This mass was a set form of worship with flowers, wearing beautiful bonnets, and forty days of fasting before it began. They ate no meat, because meat was a symbol of eating the flesh of Nimrod. Therefore, they did not eat meat until Ishtar day. Then they danced in the streets.

Part of this mass was the sacramental fornication. The young women would give their bodies and in this great rejoicing there was much drinking and revelry. This is how they commemorated the day ISHTAR. They also would have painted eggs (eggs were a symbol of life). Semiramis, or Ishtar, claimed that she came down from heaven in an egg and that on the morning of Ishtar (Easter) they found the egg on the banks of the river. Crack, crack, crack…out of this egg came forth this goddess. She was to be worshipped as one who was immaculately conceived and was brought down from heaven, directly to earth. She said that she was not of human parents and that she would again ascend into heaven from the earth. She was called the madonna. I am writing of the ancient practice, not of our modern practice. Hallelujah! The egg was a commemoration of this day.

Another part of the celebration was that early in the morning, at sunrise, they would go to the highest hill and turn “their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun” as it rose up out from the shadow of the earth. This is mentioned in Ezekiel 8:16. “And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.” Sun worship was definitely practiced in ancient Babylon. This special morning worship was generally done on the birthday of Ishtar.

Notice, these men turned their backs to the altar of God, the altar of Israel, and they turned toward something else. There were twenty-five men. Twenty-four priests make up the order of God’s tabernacle. Twenty-five is another order. They were following the god Chemosh, or some other god, but not the God of Israel. At Easter-time, they would bake cakes, hot cross buns, and these sweet cakes were all part of the worship of the Ishtar goddess, Semiramis. This is all part of the worship of Baal.

Ezekiel 9 shows judgment by the sword because this worship had definitely come up to heaven before God. God sent a man with an inkhorn in their midst to mark His people on their forehead. The people of God, under all these circumstances, will be protected.

Brethren, if any of you are involved in the modern Easter practices, I urge you by the Spirit of God, turn away from them unto the living God so that you may be protected when His judgment comes.

Thought for today: Let us be those that receive the mark of God in our foreheads with our sighing and crying for the abominations that are done in Jerusalem.
