Hebrews 2:11, “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,”
His loving kindness reaches out to us even in our lowest estate. Continuing in verses 12-18,
“Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, 1 will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; AND DELIVER THEM, WHO THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH WERE ALL THEIR LIFETIME SUBJECT TO BONDAGE. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”
Jesus Christ is in the process of conquering death in us and through us, His body.
If a man walks into the room and puts a gun to your head, demanding that you open the safe or he will blow out your brains, because of fear you would do what he says, with the hope that you would preserve your life. It was the fear of death which caused you to obey his command. If you did not fear death, he would have no power over you. His power lies in your being afraid. If, on the other hand, he says, “Give me your money or I will kill you,” and you say, “I am not afraid of you killing me,” so he kills you, and he still does not get the money, he would soon learn that he is not going to get anything from people who are not afraid to die. The thing that appeases him, and makes the spirit strong in him, is when you get up and get the money and give it to him. He goes to the next house, and he expects the same human behavior, and he will never stop doing this, and expecting the same behavior. But if he knew that none of these people were going to give him what he demands, because they are not afraid of him or of death, then the power would be taken out of his hands.
The power of death lies in fear. If we are not afraid of death, then we are not afraid of anything. The power of fear is the power of the devil; that is what makes him function. Christ abolished death, yet death is a great, big thing for us. We are afraid of death. WHAT GOD IS DOING FOR US NOW IN CHRIST JESUS IS GETTING US INTO A PLACE WHERE WE WILL LOSE THE FEAR OF DEATH, AND INSTEAD WELCOME IT AND DESTROY IT THROUGH THE POWER OF LIFE. When Jesus Christ was on earth, He had life and immortality dwelling in Him as a human being.
2nd Timothy 1:9-10, “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began; but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath BROUGHT LIFE AND IMORTALITY TO LIGHT THROUGH THE GOSPEL.”
WHAT IS LIFE?
We do not fully understand what life is. If you do not understand what life is, then you do not understand what death is, either. LIFE IS GOD.
John 11:23-26, “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, l know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE; He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
“I am the resurrection and the life.” This means that life cannot be killed. Resurrection life means that even one who has been blasted into smithereens, so that you could never find any two pieces of his body together, is then seen sitting in this room smiling at you, complete and whole. Death had been conquered; it had no power over him. This is what Jesus meant when He said, “I am the resurrection and the life.”
Do we understand how powerful life is? We know the awesome power of destruction. We have seen things like the atom bomb blast in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which brings terror to the human mind, but the power of life is greater, because it reverses the power of death and destruction. The Bible says that the elements will give up the dead:
Revelation 20:13, “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”
We are comprised of so much air, so much gasses, so much water, minerals and all the different substances, but we also have in us LIFE, and the life determines that we must remain an entity for eternity. In the interim between our physical life and eternity, old time gets a hold of us and we die, and our body goes to the earth. We see the gasses and all the physical body yield to the earth, and join this great reservoir of elements in earth and sea. The word says “the sea gave up her dead,” and the earth gives up its dead; the air and the ashes give up their dead; the soul, which is the real man, slips back into its body, like a man putting on his clothes. He is raised up, not another man, not another flesh, but the same man is raised up, and he looks at the devil and all the forces of destruction and death, and he says, “Aha!” The devil and all his forces are beaten; all that he has done to humanity over the ages has been in vain. “Death is swallowed up in victory.” He taunts death, “Where is your sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1st Corinthians 15:54-55).
The devil must be really mad to know that there is such a thing named LIFE:
John 1:4-5, “In him was LIFE and the LIFE was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
In this passage, the word translated “comprehended” could be better rendered “overcame.” The devil cannot overcome life, for the life is the light. We are actually taking in more and more of the light and the life, which is more and more of Christ, which is our RESURRECTION. By our daily spiritual growth, we are actually taking in Christ. We are taking in our resurrection. The more you open up to God, the more the Christ comes in. CHRIST IS OUR LIFE:
Colossians 3:4, “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.”
Imagine a picture of the Great Almighty God, Author and Possessor of this great reservoir called LIFE; the name of God’s LIFE is Christ (Messiah). He dipped into His bosom and took out “Messiah,” and let Him loose in the earth. The life came down as an entity in the person of Jesus Christ. God can divide Himself in as many parts as He wants to, since He has power over all things, and all things are subject to His will.
In Luke 1, the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary with her consent. The conversation that the angel had with her was designed to get her consent. When Mary accepted what the angel said, he departed. He was only the messenger. The Holy Ghost then came and overshadowed her, meaning to say that the Holy Ghost planted the seed of Life in her, and she became pregnant, because that was the will of God. Some ignorant people felt this was a sexual thing. God is the Creator. He created Adam and Eve; He created the first man, and He was in the process of creating the second man. The first man, “Adam,” was a full-grown man; the second man was born in a manger, sired of God, born of a woman. The first man, “Adam,” was a natural man, and the second man, the Lord from heaven.
May God bless our understanding: God put Jesus into Mary, and Christ into Jesus, therefore, when Mary birthed Jesus as a babe, she brought forth Christ in the earth. Since Christ is the Messiah, the second person of the Godhead from before the foundation of the world, then the birth of Jesus Christ was the entrance of God as a member of the human race. When we receive Christ in us through the action of the Holy Spirit, then we are on (a) par with Jesus, when He was born of Mary in Bethlehem of Judea. Jesus, therefore, did not need to be born again, since He was never born of corruptible seed. Because we were born of corruptible seed, we need to be born again.
You were first born in Adam, then you were born (again) in Christ. A charge of LIFE came into the earth in Jesus Christ, and then the charge came into you as an individual. This life is eternal; it cannot die.
THE PROMISE OF RESURRECTION
John 6:38-40, “For 1 came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should RAISE IT UP AGAIN AT THE LAST DAY. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY.”
The promise of resurrection is an insurance policy to the believer. In this promise, Jesus tells us when He will raise us up: At the Last day — repeated over and over in this chapter. Is this one special day on the calendar of God, or is it one of God’s spiritual days? Without conjecture, the LAST DAY referred to in this passage is ONE THOUSAND YEARS. We would not have space in this article to deal fully with it, but this is the day of Joel 2 — this is the DAY OF THE LORD. If you should look this up in your Bible, you would agree with me that the day of the Lord is one thousand years.
The last day, or the seventh day, is the day of the Lord in which man will be at rest, and God alone will rule the earth.
This day of the Lord (or this last day) is the day of Resurrection, but as we see in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, all will not be raised at the same time, but there is an order in the resurrection:
1st Corinthians 15:23, “But every man in his own ORDER: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.”
From the verse above, we can clearly see there is going to be a resurrection before the coming of Christ; that the FIRSTFRUITS’ RESURRECTION will be before Christ comes physically back to earth, and all the others will be resurrected when Christ comes. In order to be in the firstfruits resurrection, one must be in Christ. One of the things this tells us, which is not apparent on the surface, is that there are some Christians who are in Christ, and others who belong to Christ who are not in Christ.
1st Corinthians 15:22, “For as in Adam all die, even so IN CHRIST shall all be made alive.”
In Adam, we were born spiritually dead. We were in death and death was in us; there was no life. When we are in Christ, we are made alive. These are two different realms. One realm is named Adam (the realm of death), and the other is named Christ (the realm of life). The scripture goes on further to say in the next verse, “BUT every man in his own rank (or order).” Number one rank: the Christ the Firstfruits (or those in Christ) and number two: those that belong to Christ at His coming.
Another scripture which brings out this point is found in 1st Thessalonians 4:16: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST.”
Back in 1st Corinthians 15:23, we read, “Christ the Firstfruits…”
This order of resurrection can be explained in the following way. If you want to go to Miami, you board a plane that is designated to go to Miami. When the plane takes off, you rise with it, because you are IN IT. Once you are in Christ, you are in the first resurrection. Christ is going to rise first. This is not referring to Jesus Christ, who already rose from the dead, but to the body of Christ. Those who are in Christ are in the Firstfruits Company. This company of saints can be found in Revelation 14:4, “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb withersoever He goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the FIRSTFRUITS unto God and to the Lamb.”
This clearly shows that the firstfruits is referring to a company of humans, who like the firstfruits of the harvest are the best that the farmer can find. Under the law of Moses, these firstfruits belonged to God.
Revelation 14:1, “And I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion (Zion), and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name (and His name) written in their foreheads.”
This further explains the firstfruits company. They were on mount Zion, and they were sealed with the name of Jesus Christ in their minds; that is, they had received the mind of Christ. Mount Zion refers to a company of people who have attained the High Calling in God. This is explained by Isaiah and the Psalms:
Isaiah 14:12-13, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Heylel (Lucifer erroneously translated), son of the morning (this phrase not in the Hebrew)! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! FOR THOU HAST SAID IN THINE HEART, I WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN, I WILL EXALT MY THRONE ABOVE THE STARS OF GOD: I WILL SIT ALSO UPON THE MOUNT OF THE CONGREGATION, IN THE SIDES OF THE NORTH.“
This depicts Satan threatening God; that he will take control of the people of God, whom he describes as dwelling in the sides of the north. This is explained in Psalms 48:1-2, “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.”
WHY IS GOD’S CITY CALLED MOUNT ZION?
The only language that God made directly was the old Chaldean tongue to which the Hebrew is the closest version. The letters of the Hebrew alphabet are also numerals, so that Aleph would be number one; Beth, number two; Gimel, number three, etc. The seventh letter is Zain, and the numerical value is seven. This letter in its spiritual meaning is the perfection of God. Throughout the Bible, God speaks of Zion as an elect people, through whom He will manifest His glory in the earth at the end of time. This is referring to the same people who Paul calls the Firstfruits in Corinthians, and who John, in the Spirit, refers to as the same, and these people are ordained of God never to fail.
I like to read stories of people who never fail. Some time ago, I came across a little booklet entitled, “By Fire and by Sword.” It speaks of a great fighter who was in the army of Napoleon. When Napoleon and his army were finally beaten, this man went home, a broken man, to his little lodge. He had one son, and he began to train this boy to use the sword. He was schooled and strengthened until he became a superb swordsman. As an old experienced soldier, he knew that there was no man in France who could handle a sword better than this young man that he had trained. At that time, France was like the wild west, but instead of the gun, men were using the sword.
The day came when he packed up the boy’s things, saddled up his horse and sent him forth. All along, he knew that the boy was going to be passing through enemy territory, and that surely the great swordsmen of that place were going to attack him. They acted true to form and challenged the young swordsman. The young stranger made short work of all his opponents that day. It did not take long for all of France to hear of him. Eventually, he became the friend of the King, and the story goes that he was never beaten, even when the odds were ten to one. God has a Zion company, an elect army which will never be defeated.
It would be a pleasure for you to look up all that God says about Zion in the scriptures, i.e., Psalms 50:2, “Out of Zion the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.” Psalms 69:35, “For God will save Zion and will build the cities of Judah.” Isaiah 2:3, “For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” Amos 1:2, “The LORD will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem.”
All these prophetic utterances from the Old Testament are referring to a people who will find their fulfillment in Christ. A little people (like Gideon’s 300) will be the overcomers, conquering death as Jesus Christ Himself, and be the firstfruits unto God.
LIFE OVER DEATH
Think about the power of life, as against the power of death. Life destroys death, just as light destroys darkness. THE MORE LIFE YOU HAVE IN YOU IS THE MORE POWER YOU HAVE OVER SIN AND DEATH.
My own experience of Christ gives me the authority to speak of this great power of life over death. I was in my room, about to kill myself with a gun, and Jesus delivered me. I thought that if a Jesus that I did not know could love me so much to do this for me, then surely He can talk to me and tell me about the scriptures. I said, “Meet me at four.” It was a naive request, but full of faith and confidence in God. Four was the time when I would be off work. Jesus Christ came into the room at four o’clock, and I was not frightened. I expected Him. I made an appointment with Him for four o’clock and He came. I asked Him to tell me about the Bible, and He did. Readers, please try to imagine what happens to a man who could not find anything in life worth living for, and who suddenly found all that his heart desired in the presence of Jesus Christ.
I sat down all night with Him until one o’clock in the morning. He always left at one, and I do not know why. Probably, it was the time I got tired. This went on for approximately seven months, and He kept teaching me the Bible. When I was going to take notes, He told me, “No,” and that when I needed them, the words would come back to me, until I was baptized in the Holy Ghost.
One of the experiences I had was this: one day He came to me and said, “I want you to go and preach the gospel.” I did not want to preach; I had other plans for my life. He asked me why I wanted to be a medical doctor. For want of a better answer, I said I wanted to help people. He told me He would give me more healing in the ministry than I would get as a medical doctor. I agreed.
The energy with which I went out was beyond anything you can think of. Nobody could tell me that God is not alive; nobody could tell me that Jesus is not walking around on earth, talking to people, sitting down in their room with them. So I went out with this marvelous energy and faith. The first miracle that took place was the healing of a beautiful red-headed girl. She might have been about three or four years of age when she took deathly sick with a bowel ailment, for which there was no cure. We watched her as she began to mortify, with big black spots coming all over her body, and the family preparing for her funeral.
I remembered the promise of God to me, that whatsoever I asked Him to do, He would do it. I said, “Lord, I am asking you for life for this child, and I will not eat or drink until she is healed.” I felt at the time that if she was to die, then I would die, too. He did not say, “Yes.” He did not say, “No,” but I did not need an answer, because I had a promise from Him.
The first and second day went very peacefully, with my going to work, and with the child sinking deeper and deeper into a coma-like sleep. On the third day, I went to the office, and at midday, the Spirit of God came behind me, and spoke in my left ear with an audible voice, “Go, have your lunch.” I knew then that the child was healed, so I went up to the house and asked the girl’s mother for lunch. They must have thought I was very heartless, for here I came asking for lunch, while they were in tears preparing to bury their little girl.
After eating, I asked if I could pray for the girl. The mother was upset. She told me that all the great healing ministries of America and the church in Jamaica had already prayed for the child, and that she was not healed and, “Why do you torment us to want to pray for her at this time; let the child die in peace.” I insisted that I wanted to pray for her. I went into the room and laid my hand on her; she was so still. “In the name of Jesus Christ, be healed,” I said, and instead of the child being jerked out of her coma, something hit me that made me leap in the air. They were all frightened, and thought sure I had flipped my lid. I staggered out of the house like a drunken man, and had difficulty finding my way back to the office.
Before I was saved, I had a bad reputation. I almost killed one officer who remonstrated with me about using a shotgun to hunt without permission. That day, God saved me from a vicious crime. I had brought up the gun to his head in a way to make it appear that it was an accident, and as I touched the trigger to squeeze it, the man, being a good psychologist, saw his danger and quickly spun on his heels, right about turned, and slowly walked away — I could not shoot him in the back; God had intervened.
Even when I used to drink all night with the men, I never felt drunk, but now I was drunk in the Spirit, and it was the first time in my life that I was drunk that I could not walk straight. At three o’clock, the phone rang. They had gone into the room to look at the child, and her bed was empty. They searched the house and could not find her. Eventually, she was found peacefully playing outside, totally healed. THIS CHILD WAS HEALED BECAUSE THE POWER OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS TRIUMPHED OVER THE POWER OF DEATH THAT WAS IN THE CHILD.
I have heard of a man called William Branham, who would stand up for hours giving forth life to people, wherein all manner of diseases were healed, until he was limp and had to be carried out of the service.
LIFE WORKS THROUGH FAITH
We need to understand the principle upon which life works. Our faith is like a conduit. If you take a small wire, and try to use an electric iron pulling 1200 watts, the wire will burn up. Sometimes, our faith is just like a small wire trying to carry a large current. It is just able to light a small bulb, but it is not a high powered light to bring forth deliverance. You have to believe God in such a way that nothing at all can touch your belief. If you do not believe that God is going to heal a person, then do not pray for a healing. If you are asked to pray, and you do not have that faith for a healing, then do not pray for a healing. It will destroy your faith when you pray, when you know you do not believe. The life that comes into you is what you impart. We have seen this work time and time again.
Let us look at this story of Jesus Christ and the woman with the issue of blood:
Luke 8:43-48, “And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
This story clearly outlines the principle which lies behind the impartation of life from one person to another. JESUS CHRIST IS THE GREAT LIFE SOURCE. When we are connected to Him, we draw life from Him and dispense it to others.
Another instance, which was the most astounding of my life, occurred when we received a call to go and pray for a sick man about thirty miles from where we lived in Jamaica. We could not go before the weekend, and we had to walk all the way over the hills.
We planned to have a meeting in the town that evening, so we had to get to the house and pray quickly, as time was against us. Three of us came to the house where the sick man was, and (we) observed a large crowd of people in the yard.
We hurried into the house and asked where he was. They directed us to a small room to the right. On entering, we saw the form of a man stretched out on the bed, covered from head to toe. We had no time to waste, so we laid hands on him, and rebuked the power of death in the name of Jesus Christ. The power of God came down, and we shouted. The man sat bolt upright in the bed, and his big brown eyes were looking at us incredulously. Eventually, he interrupted and told us please to bring him something to eat. When we opened the door and asked his wife to bring something for him to eat, she took one look and screamed. Food was brought in, and he ate as I have never seen anyone eat before. It was then that they showed us his death certificate by the coroner, and his grave which was being dug in the back yard.
The power and the energy that comes through faith when we believe God is more than anything you can think of. There is nothing that we cannot accomplish if we believe. “All things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23). The faith to believe must come from God. There are some things you cannot believe right now: to get up and fly — to be translated — we cannot believe it. We cannot force ourselves to believe a thing out of our own minds. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for…” (Hebrews 11:1). It is a substance. When you hope for a thing, then you must receive the substance before faith works. I have a friend who was translated out of prison and from execution, and found himself standing out in the busy street. You can believe God, and He will perform His will in you. That is what Enoch did — he believed God, and it was done.
In my life, when I cannot believe that which I know I should believe, I give myself to fasting, and somewhere down the line in the fast, the reality of the thing comes to me. Fasting brings my faith to a peak, where impossible things take on new perspectives.
We should pray according to the will of God after we have received the faith. You know you can do it, but will not do it, unless you know God’s will. God told Jesus Christ to go down to the pool of Bethesda. He found many sick people lying there waiting for the moving of the water, and for someone to throw them in. Jesus did not heal but one of them, because this was the will of the Father. God wanted just one man to be healed at that pool that day. That one man was a key to the deliverance of many. In other words, God is in the business of preaching the Gospel. God is not in the business of healing bodies. The major thrust of the healing ministries is to heal people. The preaching of the Gospel becomes secondary to miracles and healing. God would rather see the souls saved than the bodies healed. Of course, if God can save you by healing you, that will He do.
I was in Texas once, and a sister came to me and said, “Ces, I am absolutely grieved over a situation that I saw today.” She told me of a case where a black boy was shot in the head by a white man in a restaurant, because he stepped on his toe. She wanted me to go to the hospital to pray for this boy. She was so burdened and grieved over this situation that her grief was transferred to me, so I went to the hospital.
He was in intensive care, lying on his face on a kind of net, and I could see him through the net. When I requested to see him, the nurses laughed, and nonchalantly led me to the room where he was. He was not yet dead, but unconscious, and I knew that he could hear me. I told him that God had sent me there to offer him life. The Spirit of prophecy came upon me, and I was able to tell him that God had called him, and that he had turned his back upon God, and that he was now at the end of the road. I said, “If you do not accept this offer I bring you today, you will die and go to hell, but if you accept Jesus Christ now, God will deliver you, and you will walk out of here.”
I waited for two or three seconds, and as soon as I got up and walked to the door he called out, “Thank you.” I wondered if it were my imagination, so I went back and went over what I had said before. This time I saw his lips trembling, and with a great effort, he said, “Thank you.” I went home, and that boy with the bullet in his head lived. God gave him life.
You have the power to draw back someone from the grave if you only believe. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE. Satan comes and tells you that you are no good; that you sinned yesterday. Ask him what has that got to do with you? Our sins are covered under the blood of Jesus Christ, and any sin the Christian does must be out of ignorance, weakness or mistake. We would never, never willfully sin against God, because we are born again. That which is in you, which is born again, will never say, “I am going to go and sin, now.” That which “is born of God doth not commit sin…” (1st John 3:9).
The LIFE that is in you is GREATER than he that is in the world (the devil). If you believe it, you can rebuke the devil, and he will flee from you. We were in India, and a brother brought a girl that had a deaf and dumb devil in her. We spoke to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, come out of her!” She was delivered and spoke. It must go! If you are afraid you will be telling people that you do not know who you are in God, then you do not know what you have, and you will never be able to do the will of God. Don’t be afraid to get up, and cast the devil out. It is the will of God for all who believe.
We were in Africa, and a boy was brought to us with a satanic fever. The demons were taking one child from this family every year, as a sacrifice with the agreement of some tribal chiefs. The time had now come, when they decided to turn on a Christian child, whose parents belonged to one of the groups connected to our fellowship. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS earlier, sister Sharon Buckmaster had a dream that she was in Africa, and that she saw a child that was to be killed by the devil. Sister Sharon was with us on this trip, and when she saw the child, she immediately recognized him as the one she saw in her dream 25 years before. She told us of this dream, and held the child in her arms as we prayed. Brother Peter Schneider was holding the feet of the child, and as the devil was rebuked, he felt the heat of the fever pass through his hands and out of the child. The boy cooled down immediately and was delivered.
“Thine, O LORD is the greatness and the power and the glory…” (1st Chronicles 29:11), and He has given it to us, so that we can preach the gospel. Believe in Him, and the power of God is yours in Christ Jesus.
This power is the RESURRECTION, and it is going to resurrect the whole realm in which we live. Everything around you will be resurrected by the LIFE of Christ which is in you. Many people believe that Jesus Christ is going to return to the earth to fight the devil, and to do this and to do that, but He is not going to do anything. He has already done it! He said, “It is finished.” He went to Calvary and completed our redemption. He finished HIS work, giving us the tools, and setting the stage for the total overthrow and eradication of evil from our realm. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus had a great battle within Himself: “let this cup pass from me.” As the Christ (Messiah), He wanted to finish the job (overthrow the devil, then and there); as the Lamb, He wanted to see the blood shed. “Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.” God’s will was done.
Christ is LIFE, and the LIFE is contrary to death. If you let loose life, it will destroy death, and that is what we call RESURRECTION. In the garden, Jesus had to hold back the life that was in Him. It was a terrible battle. Can you imagine having the power to set creation free, and having to hold back for two thousand years? God said, “NO,” because there was a body to come forth, which would receive the resurrection life, and follow the footsteps of Jesus. The issue of sin does not even enter in. This life of Christ will destroy the sin in us. Sin cannot overcome the LIFE! “…Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39). Nothing can remove us. Let us dwell upon this, until we realize how glorious and how wonderful it is. The LIFE of God in us is a resurrection power, and when it breaks loose in heaven, “the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14). This resurrection will bring life to everything on earth — the trees will live forever, the animals will live forever, men will live forever, because death will be abolished. “…The tree of life by a pure river of water of Life…” (Revelation 22:1-2). It is so sweet to think of, that we possess God until God possesses us. Thank you, Jesus.
