The Overshadowing

Scripture reading: Revelation 6:12-17

The sixth mystery or seal is the overshadowing when God covers His people as never before. They will be totally covered so that nothing will harm them or even touch them.

We must understand when we read in Revelation 6:17, “For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” that this “wrath” must take place between the end of the tribulation and the millennial beginning. With the opening of the sixth seal and the wars and the destruction in the earth, man will need a hiding place. This is where the OVERSHADOWING comes in. The sixth seal is the place of the overshadowing. The SIXTH mystery is the overshadowing. God will overshadow His people during this terrible time on the earth.

In the TABERNACLE, the symbolism which depicts the overshadowing are the two cherubims standing on each end of the mercy seat with their wings touching each other and their faces toward each other. Whenever the priest pleased God in his offering, there appeared the Shekinah glory between the cherubims. This appearance showed the glory of God when God was pleased with Israel. If we consider the vastness of the overshadowing, we will understand that this period of time must be the time when the wars and the destruction are coming on the earth. As we have explained, from the beginning of the opening of the sixth seal, there is going to be great destruction and great war and earthquakes and upheavals.

The cherubims on the Mercy Seat, which depict the overshadowing, are made of pure gold, beaten. Gold signifies total Divine Nature. No humanity is in this overshadowing. No other piece of furniture in the Tabernacle was made only out of pure gold. The table of shewbread was wood, covered with gold. Wood typifies humanity and gold typifies divinity. The candlestick, made of pure gold, had a wick (humanity) in order to function. The altar of incense, which was wood, was covered over with gold. The covering over of these things with gold means that the NATURE OF GOD IS SHOWN. The wood, which is humanity, is hidden.

The lid of the ark is called the Mercy Seat and on this Mercy Seat there are the two cherubims made of pure gold. No humanity is in them. Humanity cannot cover humanity. Man cannot deliver man.

Jeremiah 17:5, “…Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm…”

Psalm 91:1, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” “The secret place” of the Almighty is the mercy seat.

Psalm 91:2-4, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

The cherubims with apparent feathered wings – this is what is meant by God’s “feathers.” “Feathers” is only symbolic language which speaks of the power to fly. He will cover us with the very means which are used to fly – the power to rise from the earth. “Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler.”

Verses 5-6, “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.”

Isaiah 26:20-21, “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.”

Prepared for an Hour, and a Day, and a Month, and a Year

Scripture reading: Revelation 9:13-15

This picture in Revelation 9 brings us back to the Tabernacle of Moses. The golden Altar of Incense is situated before the veil in the Holy Place, and the High Priest burns the incense on this altar before he goes into the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement. This is the fifth station in the Tabernacle. The sixth angel would then be the angel of the Mercy Seat. When he blows his trumpet to call you from the fifth to the sixth, he is, in effect, saying the offering of your soul is accepted, and it is time to come into the veil and under the shadow of the Almighty for hiding and safety. The Scripture clearly states in Matthew 24:21 [concerning this time that is before us], that unless God protects us no flesh would be saved. The most modern example of this protection from God that I know of is the case of the sisters in Switzerland. The story is told, that when the radiation was released in the Chernobyl nuclear accident, all the sheep, cattle, and crops were contaminated, except theirs. They prayed and believed God, and the radiation did not affect them or their farm. (It is indeed peculiar, that the word “Chernobyl” in Russian means “wormwood” (Ref. Revelation 8:11)).

Revelation 9:14 is saying that God has a special hour of a special day, of a special month, of a special year. This means that God has one special day and a special hour when He is going to let go His restraining hand that binds the angels of death and destruction and let them loose in the earth.

I asked the Lord concerning this thing about the “Euphrates.” “Why Euphrates?” The answer He gave to me is that it is a key. Whenever you see God mention things like that, it is a key, and once you get the key, it is going to open a lot of understanding into many things. It is like the key word “Jerusalem,” meaning the many people of God who are temples of God making up a city of God; and like the key word “Babylon,” which means the many rebellious ones who are against God, and who join together to make up a land of rebellion against God.

The Lord said to me, “Open up the Bible map in the back of your Bible and look at the river Euphrates.” I began to write down the names of the different countries that are in and around the area through which the river Euphrates flows, and I found the list to be very interesting. It included all these hard-core Islamic nations: Iraq, Iran, Armenia in Russia, Syria, Turkey. It came to me that Islam and the spirits of violence which rule Islam have been bound, but they are going to be released and will bring destruction to the world.

Recently, they found a whole shipload of atomic weapons going to one of these Arab countries and arrested it. Now, that was the one they found. What about the many they did not? The Arab nations are arming themselves with atomic weapons. They hate Christianity and want to destroy the Christian world. They believe that Islam will rule the world someday.

So God says that these four spirits, which were bound in the river Euphrates, would be loosed at a specific time, and this time is now upon us. Be not terrified or afraid. God is going to pour out His Spirit upon us in a mighty way such as the earth has never seen anything like it before.

When Zion Comes Marching Home

Scripture reading: Daniel 7:21-22

We are in the seventh day, going into midnight, because night comes before morning. The word says that “the evening and the morning” is the day, so evening and then night comes before the light of the morning.

God wants to lift His right hand. Brother Tommy Hicks saw a vision of the Body of Christ lying down, covered by many preying animals. Then there was a shaking and all the animals fled. As the Body settled down, they all returned, but when the right hand of the Body lifted itself, and then the left hand towards heaven, they fled for good. God is going to lift His right hand (Psalm 98:1). God is depending on His right hand to defeat the enemy at the appropriate time, when the “fullness of times” (Ephesians 1:10) is come.

Daniel 7:21-22, “I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; AND THE TIME CAME THAT THE SAINTS POSSESSED THE KINGDOM.” 

I must exhort you, brethren, to never cease to thank the Lord for making you a part of this mighty company, and for rescuing you out of the darkness of this sinful world and leading you into Christ. Amen.

The one great desire of our hearts is to see the devil defeated and the people of God liberated.  This little song comes to mind:

I want to see Israel marching.
I want to hear the trumpet call.
I want to climb Zion’s mountain.
I want to see Great Babylon fall.
I want to see Jesus reigning,
On King David’s royal throne.
Oh, won’t it be a glorious sight to see,
When Zion comes marching home.

We (this generation) are the people who will see very shortly the glory of God in the earth. It will not be very nice at the beginning. We must go through the darkness (much suffering) before we come to the light of the morning.

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17).

This verse gives us much rejoicing, [of the glory that comes] in the falling of the Holy Spirit upon the believers, and the mighty works which follow; nevertheless, upon closer scrutiny we see that there will also be much suffering and travail.

What Manner of People

Scripture reading: 2 Peter 3:11-14

Let us turn to Revelation 19:7b today. It says, “The marriage of the Lamb is come, and the Bride hath made herself ready.” Now, the question is, when is the marriage going to take place? Brethren, have you ever thought of it, as to what stage in our relationship with God, is the marriage of the Lamb going to take place? Have you ever thought of that?

All right, we have the marriage of the Lamb and it is going to take place at midnight, in the midst of the trouble. We are now heading directly into that trouble. I want you to understand exactly where we are. We are not turning back, going back to peace. We are going into war and destruction. It is going to get worse, it is going to get worse, it is going to get worse. Many are talking about the economy getting better and so and so and so. The devil and the terrorists are going to strike again. Why are they going to strike again? Why is it our prayers won’t stop them from striking again? Because it is their time! The enemy is now loosed! God said that there were four angels bound in Islamic lands, that is the river Euphrates. There were four angels bound in that land and these angels were loosed on the eleventh of September 2001. Now they have the power to do destruction, so destruction is already given an open door. Don’t expect the circumstances to bring life back to normal. We are heading into it! Praise God! You know what we are heading for? We are heading for peace! We are heading for eternal peace! We are heading for, just down the road, Jesus Christ reigning and ruling on earth. In our minds it is a fable, it can hardly happen, but this is where we are heading. God is saying to us, “What manner of men are you to be?” If you know that the earth will soon be on fire, what manner of people are you to be? (See 2 Peter 3:11)

I am just telling you where we are, because we are just next door to the marriage of the Lamb. Let me explain to you why the marriage of the Lamb must come at midnight. The scripture says that IF God does not intervene at this time, when it gets very dark on the earth, then no flesh would be saved. That means that man has the ability to destroy human life from the face of the earth. You and I know it very well. So, if God doesn’t intervene, no flesh would be saved (Matthew 24:21 and 22). But we also know that He is going to intervene “for the elect’s sake.”

As a Thief in the Night

[As a Thief in the Night]

Scripture reading: II Peter 3:10

II Peter 3:10, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

Brethren, what is Brother Peter talking about? Brother Peter is saying that Jesus Christ is going to come in you like a thief in the night. And when you come forth in the power of God, you are going to execute judgment upon the world through the Spirit. You are the stone that is cut out of the mountain without hands, rolling down the mountain into Babylon, and smashing the image of Babylon and crushing it (Daniel 2:44-45). When these people, these first fruits people come forth in the power of God, that is when the battle of Armageddon will be fought. The earth then will burn with fervent heat, because as the Beast Government and the sinners with the mind of the devil come against God, fire will consume them. This is the fire God says the two witnesses spoke from their mouth (Revelation 11:5). This is the flaming sword that God is putting into the hands of His people. This is the deliverance of the Sons of God which Romans 8:19-23 is talking about when it says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope; 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”

Then will Jesus come, when the job is done, because He is coming to reign as King. Some of our brothers are preaching that we are going to be caught up in a rapture before the tribulation. Well, let me tell you, Jesus is not coming before the tribulation and it is right here before your eyes.

Matthew 24:29-30, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken; 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

Could you want anything clearer than that? It says, “Immediately after the tribulation,” Jesus Christ will come in power and great glory, and the moon shall not give her light and the stars shall fall from heaven. This I see as the end of the tribulation when the sons of God will be slain and lie down in the streets of Babylon (the world of rebellion against God) for three and a half days. That will be the time of darkness, real darkness, because even the saints will be afraid. They will say, “Well, we were depending on these people! We thought they were the ones.” Just like in the time of Jesus, when Jesus died and lay in the tomb, the heart of the saints failed them. And then shall the morning break. Amen. Praise be to God.
