Scripture reading: Acts 20:28-29

Let us look today into Acts 20:28-29, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.” Praise God. Can you imagine Paul about to depart and saying that grievous wolves would come into the flock, tearing the flock? But somehow a flock that is well fed will not be caught by a wolf.

If you notice, the balance of nature is so ordained that when a lion comes to a flock to catch his prey, he generally will go after the weakest ones. He will either catch a weak one or he will catch an older one that is staggering at the back of the flock. So the prime of the flock is always saved because they have the strength to run and to get away. This same principle works in the spiritual realm: anybody that comes into your midst with a false teaching, he will try to get onto the women. I’m not saying that the women are weaker, but sometimes they get excited over things and spirits catch them.

I saw a man once come into a congregation. He preached on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Then Friday he dropped out a little bit of his reconciliation doctrine. But all the while, during the daytime, he was visiting with the women. He was getting them to believe in the love of God and the goodness of God. “God is so good that He wouldn’t be able to put you into hell.” He poisoned them to such a degree that eventually he broke the congregation right in two.

If those people were founded and well-grounded, they would not be able to be taken. Do you understand? They would not be able to be taken, because first of all, they would have known God. When you get to know God, you get to know what God would do from what God wouldn’t do. Do you see what I mean? It is the same God of love that poured fire down on Sodom and Gomorrah. God is not slack concerning His promises, or slack concerning order, or slack to allow sin to destroy a congregation when He can cut it short and deliver.

Scripture reading: Matthew 18:20

There is one particular thought I want to share with you today and it is that Christ Jesus is operating in the church in three dimensions:

1.   Christ within
2.   Christ without
3.   Christ in the body

I am saying brethren that we can no longer operate passively, we must operate actively. You have the three dimensions of operations; one box, one Christ, but three different dimensions. In the natural you have Christ within and Christ within you tells you that Christ is in the other brother. So if the Christ within me is moving a certain way, the Christ in the other brother is moving a certain way, too. So I am not going to have any problem in convincing the other brother that it is Christ, for he is getting the same thing.

Sometimes something comes to you and you have a little doubt, “I wonder if this is God.” But low and behold another brother comes up and says the same thing. So you just say, “Ahh, that thing came to me.” Do you see what I mean? This is Christ within. Always recognize that Christ is within us.

Now, there is also Christ without. We must always recognize the presence of Christ everywhere. Christ Jesus is everywhere, operating everywhere, all the time, wherever we are, whatever we are doing, whatever we are saying. Therefore, when we become Christ conscious we will continuously feed; even when the thing is negative, we will feed in the positive sense.

I don’t know if you understand what I am saying? You go in the street, you deal with people and you deal with negative forces. These things come against you and yet every time they jab at you, it brings a positive response; Christ Jesus is with you continuously. He said, “…Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world (time of the end of the age) (Matthew 28:20). Amen.

Then, you have Christ in the body. When we come together there is a quickening which was not there before. Hallelujah. It says, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). He says, “Where two or three are gathered together…” I am there in the midst to bless. He was there to bless you before. Christ was with you when you were at home alone. Christ was with you alone because that was the promise. He was there for the reason to bless you and to do you good. But then He says, “Where two or three are gathered together…” I am there in the midst to bless and to do them good. Doesn’t that mean that there is a different and separate blessing and doing good? Isn’t He saying, brother, that He is going to move in you in an operation that is going to bless the rest? That means He is going to bring a message that He didn’t bring when you were alone. Now what good would a message do for you to get up and preach it to yourself? The function of the gifts of the Spirit is to function when you get together.

Scripture reading: Matthew 22:1-14

There are two words in the New Testament in the original Greek language that are translated as “church.” The first one is “ekklesia,” which means “called out.” The “ekklesia” are those who are the “called out.” If you are “called out,” you must be called out of somewhere to somewhere. You are called out of sin to an assembly of people who are walking in the Lord.

The other important Greek word for “church” is “eklektos.” It is translated into English in the King James Version as “elect” or “chosen.” In Matthew 22:11-13, we are told about a certain man who was cast out of the wedding feast. It says in verse 14, “For many are called (ekklesia), but few are chosen (eklektos).”

We are told by Jesus in Matthew 24:21-22, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s (eklektos) sake those days shall be shortened.”

What is that? He said that if it were not for the “eklektos” (elect’s) sake, no human life, or plant life, or animal life would be left on earth! The earth would be a dead planet like Mars or the moon. What are we talking about? God said that something is going to happen down here that would destroy all living creatures and life from off the earth—but for a people who will stand in the way, the time of destruction shall be shortened! It means that there are some people who are specially anointed to stand in the breach and in the forefront; and God called them the “eklektos.”

If you are among that people, God will let you know. I asked God, “How will I know those to whom You sent me?” For you see, there is no mark on the people of God. But when I asked God, He told me. When I say God told me, I do not mean that I dreamt it. Sometimes God tells you things in a dream, but I mean to say that God stood before me and told me. He said, “Do not worry. You will know them, for they are the ones who will RECEIVE the word I have sent to them through you.”

Somebody is asking, “So then, Brother duCille, is it only you that has this word? What about the other people?”

Brethren, haven’t you heard this kind of question? Is it just I alone that has this word? The question is infra dig (beneath one’s dignity)! It belittles God. Even to ask the question is a belittling of God. You should have the answer in your heart. What kind of God do you have? A God so small that He takes one little man somewhere in the back woods, calls him and says, “You alone have the word now. Everybody has to bow to you.” That is nonsense! That is exactly what God does not want! That is exactly what God is against! God is against any one man having the whole word. For if any one man has the whole word everybody would be bowing to that one man. It would be counterproductive in that the man would usurp Christ. He would usurp Him, the very God that he is preaching!

I remember a story I heard about Brother Branham; it always impressed me. Branham was standing one day talking with a brother we personally know. Two brethren came to the door, knocked, and said they wanted to say a word to him. When they came in, they said, “Brother Branham, we have a great revelation!” Branham asked, “What is it?” They fell down on their knees and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the most high God!” Branham bawled. I understand he threw himself down to the ground, and said, “Take my life, God! The very thing that I am against has caught up with me.”

One day, I went into a Branham church down near Columbus, Ohio. They had a 2’ x 3’ picture of Branham up on the wall behind the podium, and beside it a picture of Jesus that was of the same size. Oh God, I was so grieved! I tried to speak to them, but they just heard with one ear.

Do you know what that means? The man had so much power that, I believe, God had to take him out of the way, because the people would believe in the power more than in God. They would take their eyes off Jesus Christ and look at the one man; and they would believe in the one man more than in the Lord.

In my speaking with Jesus Christ, in the days when He called me, God showed me that the word He was giving me was nothing but raw food; people do not eat raw food. He showed me that there were the people of God who would receive the word and be the cooks in the kitchen to prepare the food for the young ones as well as the adults. And the message they prepare is still the word of the Lord.

Thought for today: Let us strive to be part of the people who are specially anointed to stand in the breach and who are called the “eklektos.”

Scripture reading: John 6:53-69

Whenever we want to make reference to a scripture, like an Old Testament scripture, we will say, for example, Leviticus chapter 11 and verse 7. But in the time of Jesus Christ, there were no verses and no chapters, just the writings of Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, the prophets, etc. Later, scholars added the chapters and verses that we might find these references very easily. When Jesus Christ made a reference to Leviticus, He was talking to people who ought to know better but many of them did not. And they came against Him for it.

Let us look at John 6:53-58. “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.”

When Jesus said this, “many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him” (see John 6:66). They thought that He was crazy. They did not think of the Word of God when He quoted from Leviticus. When we eat of each other, we eat what is delivered to our souls. The soul feeds just as much as the body feeds. Soul food is spiritual; body food is natural. When Jesus spoke about eating, He was speaking about the same principle that was laid down in Leviticus chapter 11.

Revelation 10:10, “And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.”

The eating of “the little book” is none other than the taking of the Word of God into one’s soul and making it a part of you. He said that it was sweet in his mouth, but bitter in his belly. He had to walk in it and it was very bitter. It can be very bitter at times to walk in the Word of God and to live in the things that we have received and that we believe.

Revelation 10:11, “And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.” This means that the walking out of that which you have received will be much more bitter than the eating of it. When you receive the Word, you have to live in it, and you have to walk in it.

Scripture reading: Leviticus 11:9-19

God said that there were those in the waters which you should and should not eat. There are TWO TYPES OF WATERS – sea (worldly) water and pure (rivers and fountains, the church) water.

Leviticus 11:9b, “Whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.” “Whatsoever has fins and scales” in the world and in the church, “…them shall ye eat.” What does He mean? He is saying that eating makes you one with the person. There are those with whom you should not fellowship. You should not eat from their table, spiritually. You should not take in their doctrine. This will kill you.

Have you ever seen the fish with the fin? It beats the water with the fin. The fin works like wings so powerfully that it propels the fish forward or backward. The fish has total control with his fin. Fins are the means by which the fish move forward or backward or upward or downward. God is saying that if they do not have fins, do not eat them, do not become one with them. If they do not have fins, they are going to move like a serpent by twisting their body back and forth, trapping the water in their coil and propelling themselves forward. God says that we should not eat those. Eat those that “hath fins and scales.”

Scales keep the fish dry in a wet environment. His scales lock one upon the other and keep warmth in. As a matter of fact, the fish can extract warmth out of the coldest water by moving through the water. The little roughage on the scale, the friction with the rough scale and the water, produces heat for his body. The fish, therefore, MUST HAVE SCALES.

Would God write the Bible to tell us about fish? NO. The Bible is basically telling us about Jesus Christ. Therefore, when we read of things like this, we must realize that it has some reference to the Christian. This is why it is in the Bible. God is saying that the Christian lives a holy life in an unholy place. He lives in light while he is actually in a very dark place. He lives in truth while he is surrounded by lies and deception. He lives contrary to his environment. This is what God is saying. He says that the Christian moves on in the world and progresses in the world, not by going along with the grain of the world, but by overcoming the world through the beating of his fins like wings. His whole life is entirely opposite to the environment in which he is.

He said that all the creatures of the water which have “no fins nor scales” would be “an abomination” to the Jew to eat. See Leviticus 11:12. It is an abomination for a Christian to be part of the world, to be worldly, to be like the world. God wants the Christian to be like Jesus Christ. If we eat this world, we will become part of it.

In Leviticus 11:13-15 we are told that we should not eat certain fowls that fly. “The eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, and the vulture, and the kite…every raven” would be unclean. There are different types of spiritual people. There are spiritual people who are of God and there are spiritual people who are not of God. God is telling us we should not have fellowship with those who are not of God. We must not eat them. They are unclean to us.

A fowl or a creature that flies defies gravity by flapping its wings. The shape of the creature is designed to be able to break away from gravity and soar in the air. This is a type of Christian who is able to overcome its natural forces and fly in the air. This is a type of spiritual person who is of God.

WHY ARE SOME FOWLS UNCLEAN? Why should we not eat them? The truth about these fowls is that they pick their prey. The eagle will fly and pick up live prey off the wing and eat it. The eagle will also eat dead prey, and vultures eat dead things. God is saying that the Christian should not eat dead (spiritually dead) things. We should have life. When we go to hear the Word of God, we should get life. It should not be a dead substance. We should not be taken in by those who do not have the life of God in them. Notice also, it is speaking about some types of ministry. Some types of ministry make a very good living by picking on live people, people who are real Christians. They will get these people to empty their pockets. God calls them vultures, PREDATORS. The person is spiritual, but a predator, and you should not eat at his table (spiritually speaking).

God mentions another type of fowl in Leviticus 11:16 and 17; this type is like an owl. He says you should not eat “the owl…the little owl…and great owl.” Why? This bird can see very clearly in the darkness, but he cannot see in the light. This is the type of people who are always bringing a prophecy of who is going to die, and who is going to have wrong marriages. They are always prophesying about something evil that is going to happen. It does not mean that God’s prophet cannot prophesy something evil. But any time God’s prophet does this, it is intended to bring some glory to God by helping somebody who will need to know this before the time comes. Palm readers who can read into your future are all of the devil. We find some of this activity in the churches. People are actually submitting to certain spirits that God said you should not be having fellowship with. You can mark it, that any time there is a prophecy or a word, IT MUST GLORIFY JESUS CHRIST.

(Excerpt from The Book of Revelation, Volume 1, pg. 199-201)

Thought for today: Christians are to be like Jesus Christ. If we eat this world, we will become part of it.
