This thought occurs once in the Bible. In Daniel Chapter 10:13 –
10: 13 “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.”
Daniel had been praying for the people of Israel. The nation of Israel at that time in history was the only people of God, as an identifiable people, therefore it was natural that when Daniel prayed it was for Israel. They were bound to God by a covenant through Abraham, but they had departed from the ways of God and were involved in all the demonic worship of the Babylonians. This means that although they were the people of God by covenant, Satan had a claim on them by their capitulation to him, so that the people of God were in a sense, garnished by the enemy, and held at ransom.
It transpires that Daniel was so grieved by the sight of his people worshipping devils, that he decided to fast and pray until God answered him. It took twenty-one days for him to get an answer, and when the angel Gabriel, finally came with the word of the Lord, he gave Daniel an astounding reason for his delay.
It is truly possible for one person to change a whole nation or the whole world for that matter, but we must have the right perspective; we must see things from the eyes of God. When I was a young Christian I so wanted to serve the Lord, that one day I asked Him to tell me which is the true church. I began to name all the churches and to tell Him that I would join any one He told m to. That day my eyes were opened to what the churches are; He showed me His perspective. Though I have been deceived in thinking that I could change some of them, I never ever deluded myself into believing that any of these man-made systems were of God, or ordained of Him. Yes, Daniel got a word for the end-time church.
What! A prince of devils had the power to stop the mighty Gabriel? The thought is mind boggling, since we know that Gabriel is one of the bright ones in the Second Realm of Heave (described in scripture as “stones of fire”), one of whom who had enough power to cast down Satan and all his hosts. This one little verse in the book of Daniel gives us an insight into the operation of the Kingdom of God as well as the kingdom of Satan.
Let us first consider the prince of Persia holding up the message of God sent by the angel Gabriel to Daniel. Daniel prayed for Israel (which means prince of God) but the prince of Persia had a legitimate claim to the people of Israel. God being fair and just would not allow Gabriel to huff the prince of Persia and deliver a people from him, who were by all intents and purposes rightfully his, by choice. (There is one law higher than the law of free-will choice, and that is the law of a previous choice made in the Blood of Jesus Christ) Gabriel then appealed to heaven – he could not use the power of God to destroy the righteousness of God – The devils were having a holiday; they had set a puzzle for the mighty Gabriel which he could not solve. It is easy for me to believe in my own mind, that when Gabriel appealed to heaven he was asking for permission to blast the spiritual ruler of Persia out of the way, but the true situation was that he could not find a just reason to go against the claim of the Prince of Persia. Here he was faced with a claim which was sanctioned by the actions of the Israelites, and he could not come up with a counter claim which had precedence over the devil’s claim.
Long ago, before man was made, God the omniscient, saw that there would be times in the history of the world where weak man would abdicate his position to forces of evil, and unless man had an unmovable anchor deep within the heart of God, we would not be able to overcome evil. When Daniel prayed, he touched this resource, and commanded the necessary power which alone could and can save us from the deepest crisis. Daniel touched the Blood. This resource, was a Blood Covenant which God made with the seed of man, even before man was made. He sealed it with the blood of His own Son, Yashua, and neither life, nor death, nor principalities, nor powers, not things past, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height (space travel), not depth, nor angels, nor any creature (visible or invisible), can remove us from the power of this covenant.
Romans 8:39 “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Thus it was that Michael, the angel of the blood covenant, probably the personal messenger of Jesus Christ Himself, came to Gabriel’s assistance. Yes, Michael knew, these people had sinned and even at that moment were still sinning, but they were the people of the Covenant. Their father Abraham had signed an everlasting contract with God, and God in turn had made a promise to them that He would forgive their iniquities and blot out their transgressions and remember their sins no more by the blood which was shed in the heavenlies, but not yet manifested on earth in our realm.
Therefore, although they were worshipping Satan and his devils, they were only temporarily prisoners of the devil and of evil, but when the shedding of the blood would be manifested in our realm, then they would be saved. As a matter of record some of the same people who were worshipping the devils there in Babylon, are today in heaven, having been redeemed by Our Lord Jesus Christ – who, having descended into hell, preached to the spirits in prison, taken captivity captive, and given the gifts of the Spirit and eternal life to men.
It is important tonote that Michael received the authority through the Faith of Daniel to exercise the powers of the Contract and deliver the message to us. We must understand that any spiritual battle over the rights of man must be instituted and supported by man. Holding forth in prayer and faith, therefore, is the key to victory in the spirit. We do not lack power in the heavenlies to fight for us, but somebody on our side must remain steadfast till the battle is won. In one instance in Scripture, Aaron and Hur had to hold up the hand of Moses until the victory was won.
The second lesson we learned from this amazing word of the angel Gabriel, is that Satan divides up the world into “Principalities” or kingdoms ruled by princes. A prince is one who is promised a kingdom when a king is deposed by death or otherwise, that he will become king. The plan of Satan is therefore clear in this matter. He has promised these fallen angels a kingdom – a promise he will never be able to deliver.
In Luke 4:6 the devil offered the power and the kingdoms of the world, over which he ruled, to Jesus, saying, “..for that is delivered unto me; and to whosoever I will I give it.” The father of lies cannot be quoted as speaking truth. The kingdom was not given to Satan; it was given to Adam, and the record states that Adam never gave Satan his kingdom, but Satan took it because he defeated Adam. This is a glorious truth which will soon be working for us in the reverse. When by the blood of Jesus and the testimony of the Saints, the enemy will be cast out of the temple of the Lord forever.
It is therefore, clear from scripture that Satan has divided the world into little kingdoms, over which fallen angels rule. These kingdoms might not have the same geographical nor ethnic divisions which we know, but it would appear that they span the jurisdiction of large empires and areas of human dominion. At the time when the words, “Prince of Persia,” was spoken by the angel; Persia was the major ruler of the world. Its empire extended east as far as India, and west over the whole of Europe. This means that this vast area was controlled by devils. It means that the two-horned kingdom of Persia, ruled by Cyrus and Darius was being manipulated by satanic forces. The scriptures show that God called Cyrus His servant, but Cyrus or Darius did not control the hearts of the people and although they were king, they only controlled the people in a superficial way.
God spoke of this empire as “silver” as compared to the golden empire of Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar. It was inferior to Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon as silver is to gold. It had two kings reigning at the same time under some sort of agreement; one was a Mede and the other was a Persian. Persia is the ancient name for Iran. It actually means land of the Aryans. The name was only changed from Persia to Iran in 1935. This is the same area where the ancient Babylon existed, where the first rebellion against God, after the flood, occurred. The spirits of terror and blood which controlled Babylon, never did let go of their hold on that area and extended their authority over the whole earth. Remember the words of the Lord in Daniel:
Daniel 2:38 “And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
2:39 “And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.”
Evil spirits cannot function without human authority. They need human agents through which to manifest their evil. The amazing truth of this scripture, is that the kingdoms of men would deteriorate and become inferior to that of that ancient Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar, and down to the end of time (our time) they would get more and more inferior, as gold is to iron and clay. The same evil spirits would rule over the kingdoms, but the kingdoms would get More and More Inferior. The word inferior must be considered in a spiritual sense. Daniel’s vision showed the kingdoms deteriorating from gold down to iron and clay. In our time we are at the feet of the image. This is the place where the Kingdom of God will strike the kingdoms of the world and destroy them. Thus it is that the human deterioration is so great that the majority of humanity is distorted into something less than human and fast approaching the thing which the Bible calls – “beast”.
Once I was on a bus in New York and an old lady came in and stood in the aisle while big burly men sat complacently in their seats. The bus lurched, and sure enough the woman was thrown to the floor; I stretched my hand out and caught her, and was promptly informed that I could be prosecuted or arrested for assault – I had no right to touch her I was told. On another occasion I saw a man knifed and lay bleeding on the pavement – people just stepped on by – nobody saw anything. I later learnt that was what they called, “Minding your own business.”
The deterioration of the species is so great that our men of learning see evolultion as a possibility and teach it in our schools as a fact. While their history presents Julius Caesar in his true role as Caesar of Rome, they have brought forth a movie presenting Jesus Christ, as a harlot, and a homosexual, and what is more, millions of people will pay their money to see it, and even some ministers of the gospel laud it as good. This is the very bottom of the barrel.
Regional Operations of Devils:
“Prince of Persia” tells us that devils of all kinds are given regional control over various aspects of human life. For instance, when we first came to the United States, we were confronted by the devastating work of the spirits which controlled divorce. In going up against this spirit, we were informed, in no uncertain terms, that there was a fallen angel here in charge of divorce and family destruction.
In order to be able to successfully combat these spirits, Christians must live in the Spirit of God and be watchful in their own homes for the subtle work of division that is being fostered by evil agents.
Iran And History:
Since the time of Babylon and down to the time of the Persian empire the fallen angels which have ruled the region, have spread their tentacles over the whole earth, yet they maintain their seat of authority among the men and families and religions through which they can best operate. In modern Iran, under Ayatollah Khomeini , the ugliness of the rulership of a devil prince has been much emphasized. It is reported that millions have been killed in the war with Iraq and in internal purges. He executed some of his best friends; men who had worked to bring him into power and can be classified with Hitler and Stalin, two of the worst ‘beasts’ of modern times.
The Prince A Religious Spirit:
The Prince of Persia is a religious spirit. In Babylon, way down there in the time of Nimrod, the people were made to worship him, and there the Zodiac was made and the worship of the ‘host of heaven’ and the ‘Queen of heaven’ was instituted. Satan wants worship. The people were made to worship devils under different pretexts. Today in modern Iran the people believe they are worshipping God by the name ‘Allah’ but in truth and in fact they are worshiping Khomeini and the prince of Persia. Godliness is different from religion. Religion says do so and so, and do so and so, because it will please God and make you holy; do penance and it will wash away your sins. But Godliness says that we can only be saved by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ; no ritual that we can do will make us righteous. When Christ comes into the heart, He will change the nature of the natural man. Then “love thy neighbor as thyself; love the Lord thy God with all thy heart;” then and only can we be what we preach, if we are careful. Religiosity is a curse. The filthy garments of man’s righteousness take the place of God in the life of the individual and works havoc with the mind. The word which accurately describes this is “Cult”, but unfortunately the word “cult” in our society is only applied to the one man shows which do not have a registered “statement of faith” and a powerful lobby in most of the capitals of the world. Probably you have already seen what I am trying to say, but let me make it clearer. All the denominations with their laws and rules, bishops, popes and cardinals, vicars and vices, are in effect cults, which manipulate the minds of people to fit into their molds, and they themselves are being manipulated by the prince of Persia, or allies spirits.
From Faith To Fate:
If we keep the faith with these spirits, we are doomed to their fate. The fate of the spirits are already sealed but they continue to attract a large following through lies and subterfuge. The worse lie is one that wears the clothes of truth. The scriptures did say that, Satan himself would be transformed into an “angel of light”. Have you ever asked yourself the question that if these are the last days, where is the false church, and the false prophets, showing themselves to be Christ or Christians while they represent the devil. It is amusing that every church will tell you that some other church is the false church. All the churches are calling themselves the body of Christ which is a misnomer and an affront to the Christ of God. I can truly tell you: All the churches which are putting up some man or men as their head, and giving Christ lip service, are man-made and man run organizations. These are the false churches which Christ spoke about and which are so precisely described in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-7. It is amazing to see what Martin Luther wrote on this subject. When we read the life of Martin Luther we see how he explicitly decried the human rulership of the church.
How Shall We Escape:
It transpires that if there are spiritual forces ruling over the kingdoms of men, then it is no more men who are ruling, but spirits. That means that we are all in one or another of the areas where Satan has his ruling angels laying claim to our lives. When however, a person receives Christ he or she immediately is translated from the kingdom of the devil to the kingdom of God. We become aliens and foreigners in a system that is ruled by devils. Therefore, it is easy to see that in the places where we used to call home, and friendly neighborhoods, suddenly become war zones for us and our children. Our status is changed to soldier, or coward, if we compromise with the world and the other side. In the spiritual war it is not so obvious. One might become a prisoner to certain circumstances; a prisoner to wrong thinking; or a prisoner to self, holding his own cage around his head, and earnestly calling to others to help him, while he holds his own cage. This warfare is waged by the enemy upon many different planes at the same time. For instance the war in the mind is an entirely different game from the war against the physical. Revelation 12 speaks of the serpent casting water out of his mouth to try to engulf the woman, the church. The preponderance of false doctrines which has taken hold of the church is so great that those of us who are born and grown up in it can hardly believe that the false could be so massive and the true so small. I do not see the modern church, from the Pentecostal back to the Roman Catholic, having one true doctrine that has not been contaminated and satanized. This is a very strong statement to make, but I would love you to correct me by showing me one. The way to escape this mighty overshadowing of the enemy is to put on the whole armour of God.
Time of Deliverance:
I am convinced that we are living in the time of deliverance; that God has set a time for the deliverance of humanity from the various bondages which have held us prisoner over the years. I know for sure that we will overcome the ancient dragon and that the enemy which binds humanity, within shall be cast out, and the whole creation will be set free. The tools are in our hands, but there is work to be done yet in the mind of man to make our liberation final. This work is not of man but of Christ. Christ must descend into our innermost beings in His fullness. Christ is within us at present, but there are some areas of our being which yet lies in twilight. We must let it happen. If it were the policy of God to force man to serve Him, then all of us would have to serve Him. God’s policy, however, is to have free men who will serve him out of their freedom; men like Job, “Though you slay me, yet will I trust You.” (Job 13:15) These are the humans who God will entrust with His kingdom throughout eternity.
In the Belly of the Beast:
All of us are in geographical areas ruled by a prince of devils. Most of us were born in one area or grew up in another area, which can be described
as our Jerusalem, and now we live in another area which can be our Judea or Samaria, or world. Wherever we are, however satanic intelligence is searching out our weaknesses and capitalizing on them to either disrupt, destroy or enslave us. These weaknesses are sometimes hereditary and sometimes we inculcate them by usage.
“Rome was not built in a day, and high hills grow less as we ascend them.” It takes time and Godly patience to deal with self and to overcome our weaknesses. When you can discern your weakness, you have made the first step in overcoming. Before we can overcome the Prince of Devils, we must overcome self and the “..little foxes that destroy the vine.” (Song of Sol. 2:15) Watch yourself. Many of us are good watchmen for others; nothing passes us when it comes to behavior etc. of others, but we are blind on the inside. Let us begin to deal fairly with ourselves as we deal with others. We must remember that Satan is the “accuser of the brethren” and not allow him to show us faults that are not ours, but his. Satan will oppress you and cause you to lie or cheat and then accuse you that you are a liar. You may lie and not be a liar, but still guilty of some weakness which causes you to submit to a lying spirit.
“We can do all things through Christ which strengthens us.” (Phil. 4:13) If we submit to the Spirit of God, then we will overcome in spite of our weaknesses. How Does One Submit? One submits by first desiring to be like Jesus Christ; secondly the word of God must be studied and in your mind and heart. One must apply the word of God to every situation in life. Begin to ask yourself what does the word of God say about this or that and you will find that the word of God becomes focal in your endeavor to live a Godly life.
Jesus said: “The prince of this world comes and finds nothing in me.” (John 14:30)
Help us Lord that we can say the same thing with the same meaning, if not now, then soon. God bless you beloved.
