2 Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
3:2 “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 “Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
3:4 “Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
Sometimes we are apt to think that the greatest peril to the Church comes from Communism or from some other form of godlessness which might attack the Church from without, but this is not true. Our greatest danger today is from within. “a form of godliness” – It is very difficult to attack this in others, since it gives the appearance of attacking the Church. The subtle mixture makes it an impossible task. There is however, a way of handling this condition, and that is to deal with it in OURSELVES. Darkness cannot stand the shining of the light, therefore when we begin to examine ourselves we will be actually shining the light within, and if there is darkness it will depart. One good sign that there is darkness, is that when you read this article if you feel upset even to a slight degree, then there is something for you to pray about.
Lovers of Their Own Selves:
The love of self is a modern epidemic. It works in the Church against the “Death to self Message”, thus it keeps the believer in the Outer Court realm of the Church, where self reigns as Lord and even speaks to the believer in the voice of God. Many in this realm will tell you, “Thus saith the Lord”, in order to get you to do their bidding, and messages will be preached in the name of the Lord telling the believers that the Lord says they are to give so much in order to increase their blessing. In turn the congregations will donate sumptuously out of fear or emotion, adding to the amount of hay and wood and stubble sent up to the throne. Any giving or work done outside of the will of God or with any motive outside of His will, is not acceptable to the Lord. In short we could call this ‘christian humanism’, which is a doctrine held by most Christians, wherein they go about doing all their business and ask God to come along as an assistant.
Unholy:
Holiness is one of the abused words among Christians. The word, of course, means – divine character or of divine origin. The people and things which we today describe as holy are a far cry from true holiness.
This is the day of profanity, a profanity so deep and dark that it seems to still the conscience of those who are supposed to be holy. It is not an uncommon thing in our midst to see the profane being called holy, and the holy profane. Stain glass windows, beautiful auditoriums, beautiful altars with Babylonish crosses, or the Egyptian tau, with all the heathenic inscriptions complete with candles are all called holy, while true worship from the heart and the speaking in tongues are described in may quarters as “cult”.
Ezekiel 22:26 “Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
22:27 “Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.
22:28 “And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter , seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.”
Without Natural Affection:
God made man to be both a natural and a spiritual entity, with a spiritual image of himself, manifesting in a natural body which in itself is the natural counterpart of that spiritual image. This gives man a moral character which is above that of the animal kingdom. The soul of man therefore, with Intellect, Desire, a Will of his own, and Emotions, was constructed of God to function within certain prescribed boundaries of behavior, YET with the power to break through these barriers at his own will.
For almost six thousand years Satan has been working in the human race to disfigure man’s character, and to create UNNATURAL behavior patterns within the human race.
It is natural human behavior to love one’s parents; It is unnatural to commit adultery (take your neighbor’s wife); It is unnatural to lie to cheat, to murder, to be violent and cruel to others, to destroy, to teach false doctrines, to be homosexual, and to fornicate. YET if you should ask anyone on the street what he or she would consider natural, he or she would tell you just the opposite of what you just read. The reason for this is that we live in a fallen society which is even more fallen than it was in the beginning of man’s fall.
People are today participating in marital relationship without marriage, and this has reached epidemic proportions. It is NOT NATURAL for a woman to give up her freedom and youth without the security of a lifelong marriage contract with her mate. Christian are encouraging their children to be “NORMAL KIDS” which means that they submit to the norm of a wicked and adulterous generation. The result of this is heartbreak for parents when these kids become adolescents and a severe uphill battle for the kids to learn to submit to God. Christians are a peculiar people and are by no means normal according to the standards of the world, and our kids are the same. In short we should not let them bend to and blend with the styles of this generation.
Modernism and liberalism and secular humanism as well as Christian humanism, has taken a strangle hold on the institutions we call “Church”. Bingo parties, suppers and feasts, money raising gimmicks, divorces and adulterous marriages, sexuality and homosexuality, pleasure loving and pleasure seeking, vain and wasteful building programs, heretical twisting of doctrines to suit money raising schemes; all this and more constitute a growing attack upon the Christian mind and behavior, like the waters of a flood they engulf some, but thank God for the standard he is raising up against them.
Romans 1:20-32 adequately outlines the condition:
1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
1:21 “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
1:22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
1:23 “And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
1:24 “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
1:25 “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
1:26 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
1:27 “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
1:28 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
1:29 “Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
1:30 “Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
1:31 “Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
1:32 “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
The amazing conclusion which the Apostle Paul brings us to is: “FROM SUCH TURN AWAY”. As an appendix to this conclusion he says –
22 Timothy 3:6 “For of this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive silly women…”
In verse 8 he likens them to Janes and Jambres the two sorcerers of Egypt who withstood Moses before Pharaoh.
Judge Stumbles in Judgment:
In the Courtroom in Little Rock, Arkansas, history was recently made, when a judge ruled that “Creationism” is not a science and could not be taught with Evolution in the schools.
Creationism is described as a doctrine which states that God is responsible for making the earth and man, which agrees with the story in Genesis chapter one of the Bible.
I am of the opinion that the case for the Bible was not adequately presented in Court. Those who were presenting the case from the Bible in a secular Court of Law could not hope to win without bringing in scientific knowledge which supports the Christian position. On the other hand, they did nothing to disprove Darwin’s pseudo-scientific findings which have been passing off as science for a long time. The definition of science from the Webster’s dictionary is:
“Knowledge of facts or principles gained by systematic study; a particular branch of knowledge, especially one dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws.”
The earth is round – this is a fact; but science did not accept it until recently (500 years ago) when Columbus sailed around the world at his own peril, almost being killed by his crew who thought they were about to go over the edge of a flat universe. IF THEY HAD ONLY READ Isaiah 40:22, they would have known the world is round.
Isaiah 40:22 “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,…”
Evolution Theory:
The basic points of error in the Evolution theory are:
- It should not be regarded as a science since there are no general laws which persist in the procreation of species.
- There are genetical barriers among all species and the laws of genetics go directly against the theory of evolution.
- Evolution claims that the species developed from a one cell amphibian to man, but after millions of years, according to this theory, there cannot be found, either among the living or the dead, any continuity in the links of this chain.
- If man evolved from a lower specie, then we would be developing into a ‘super man’, but there is evidence in the world of a deteriorating life span, and moral and spiritual decay which is driving us towards extinction.
Creationism:
Scriptural evidence of creation is abundant, but since God is the maker of all things then the evidence of God and creation must be in science. Newton’s law of cause and effect states that “reaction is always equal and opposite to action: – For every effect there must be a cause. Man himself is the greatest testimony of God in the earth. “Fearfully and wonderfully made,” says the psalmist and this is another fact of science that no man can create anything greater than himself. For sure it must be a greater than us who made us.
Did We Evolve ?
Atavism:
Let us suppose that the chance which evolved us was one in a million, then for every million persons there would be at least one without mother or father. There is not such person therefore again we see the folly of man.
Webster’s dictionary describes the word thus:
“The resemblance of offspring to a remote ancestor; the return or reversion among animals to the original type.”
This means that if man came from anything else beside man, then somewhere along the line a monkey or some other specie would turn up.
“Every living creature must bring forth after its kind”, is a law of life written in Genesis 1:21, 24, 25, but also written indelibly in the DNA factor of every creature. For years scientists and perverts alike have been trying to break this law by bringing together the sperm of man and beast, but to no avail. In both the animal and vegetable kingdoms there are definite barriers put up of God which cannot be broken. A mare and a jack ass will produce a mule – the mule is barren and cannot reproduce – hybrid – this is God’s barrier. A she ass and a stallion will produce a small mule which we call ‘mule royal’. The mule royal is barren and cannot reproduce – here we hit the hybrid barrier. We can take a bud from an orange tree and engraft it into another citrus stock, but it will not take to just any other tree. Here we come up against one of God’s barriers.
What Shall We Do?
2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
In Israel they read from the Torah and pray in the schools; In all the Islamic countries they pray openly in schools and even on the streets; but here in the U.S.A. they have a law against praying in the schools; a law against teaching Creation; some hospitals have regulations against taking a Bible in their precincts, because they subscribe to the belief that the Bible helps to mentally destabilize people: Soon they intend to fetter our spiritual freedom and only accept secular religion as Christianity.
Very many families are now moving their children from the public school system into private schools, even as they deteriorate in quality, educationally, are adding subjects like ‘sex education’, ‘occult classes’, and other devious subjects, which do not help the poor grades of students, but add to their confusion.
Christians will have to rise up and provide suitable places of tuition for their children.
