Omega Message – October 1981
Cecil J. duCille
In our last issue I stated that I would explain from the scriptures the idea suggested in my article, that the angel Heylel was in the Second realm of Heaven with Michael and Gabriel. The following scripture will give us some light on the subject:
Ezekiel 28:14 “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of god; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”
The stones of fire refer to the bright angels of light which occupy the realm of heaven nearest to God. The domain of the Father would be the Highest heaven, then the next realm where the Princes of heaven dwell would be the second heaven. The scriptures however go on a little further in explaining the matter:
Ezekiel 28:1 “……Therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee O covering cherub from the midst of the stones of fire.”
Ultimate Reconciliation:
Ultimate reconciliation as a doctrine of Modernism teaches that all men will be saved eventually. Some proponents of this teaching even teach that Satan and all his hosts of fallen angels and demons will be eventually saved. They teach that hell is not eternal and that it will burn for a time and that sin will be burnt out of the devils and evil men and they will be made clean and fit for heaven, no matter how many eons it will take.
This doctrine was formulated in hell, therefore it is all dressed up to look like truth. It appeals a lot to intellectuals and those who will want to apply logic to scripture.
Modernism is built upon mostly one word. This word “AIONIOS” which is translated in some places “For an age”, means ‘eternal’ ‘everlasting’ ‘time without end’. The reconciliationists contend that this word means for a time – and so they say that hell will only be for a time.
Without going too far into the depths of this heresy I will just simply show you the word occurring as an adjective before the word God – Eternal God – This for sure could not mean for a time. It occurs before salvation – Eternal salvation – Surely my salvation is not for a time. Eternal Life – Again this is the most sturdy promise of the doctrine of Salvation. Let me give you the scriptures for these:
I Timothy 1:17 “Now unto the King eternal (aionon), immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory, for ever and ever (aionas ton aionan).”
Romans 16:26 “But now is made manifest and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.”
Luke 1:33 “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
In these examples which we are about to give, the word “aionios” is used to mean some duration of time but not eternal:
Romans 16:25 “Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret since the world began.” (aioniois)
Here is an example of the word “aionios” used to denote time unknown in the past. Here is another example of an event in the past – we know not when, where the word “aionios” is used without the meaning of everlasting.
2 Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”
Just by reading these scriptures we can see the folly of forming a doctrine on the word “aionios”, and to say that it means for a time only, this implying that all men will be saved.
Can Spirits Be Saved?
Without going too deeply into the doctrine of spirits or into demonology, let us look into the reason for spirits being lost in the first place, in order to find out God’s plan for them and whether they can be saved or not. The doctrine of reconciliation states that all things will return to their former condition, and that even the devil will return to heaven. Let us see in the scriptures if there is any foundation for this thought, and if there are any scriptures that would go against this idea:
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation – To wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
It is very important that we take note of the fact that God is reconciling ‘THE WORLD’, reconciling ‘US’, and that we have been given salvation in Jesus Christ, and the gospel of reconciliation. Angels fell before men, yet there was no provision for redeeming angels, and everything in the above scripture abundantly points to the extensive provision of God to save man. WHY? Let us look in the scripture and see if there is an light on the subject.
Philippians 2:10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly beings, and earthly beings, and infernal beings.”
No one should use this scripture to mean reconciliation, for devils will bow before the power of Christ and will recognize him without being reconciled, as it was in the case of the demoniac of Gadara who cried out “I know thee whom thou art the Christ the son of God….” They were subdued and not reconciled.
Jude 5-6 “I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed then that believed not. And the ANGELS WHICH KEPT NOT THEIR FIRST ESTATE, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”
This passage speaks for itself – Angels who fell from their first estate are bound in darkness to be judged and cast into eternal fire. This passage is therefore saying that angels will not be saved. Let us read from another scripture:
Revelation 20:10 “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Rev 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
20:15 “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
The question the reconciliationists ask is, how could a loving God condemn men and angels to everlasting punishment?
The answer is simple and without sophistication. God does not condemn anyone to hell – Sin which is contrary to the nature of God, forbids anyone from dwelling in the presence of God. Here is a scripture which adequately clears up this matter:
John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
A being who wants darkness cannot exist in light. Light would be grievous, painful and destructive to him. The angel that was the bright one in heaven, cannot now stand light.
God sent Jesus Christ our Lord to save humanity because we fell from a position of weakness. Adam gave up his position because he was beaten. Since then all men were born in sin and shaped in iniquity and did not have a choice. Jesus Christ now gives us this choice, therefore through Him we not only have Salvation, but the power to choose light or darkness.
Angels cannot be saved because they were never in a position of weakness as mankind. God had provided Sanctuaries for them and they could not fall in the sense that Adam fell. They had to choose and they had knowledge and every power that God can give to prevent one from falling. Therefore they, knowing the consequences, willfully and deliberately “kept not their first estate”.
In closing let me give you one more scripture which shows that they deliberately destroyed their sanctuaries:
Ezekiel 28:18 “Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thy iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick;…”
We will continue in our next issue with some of the heresies which are oppressing the Church.
